iPhone5 should worry...

as Steve Ballmer is also involved in Win8 phones :)

Well, he left Apple a 4 year plan for product designs.
So it comes to no surprise that the first iPhone after his death is actually made by him, too. :apple:

Glassed Silver:mac

iPhone, Air, MBPS, iMac etc for the next two or three generations were plans approved by SJ.

Not a surprise that he would have been involved in this design
These would be in the works for a while

I just hope it isn't the "tall" design in the mock ups
It's pretty safe to say it won't be. There's one huge thing iOS has over Android and that's no fragmentation, Apple's not going to break (perfect) compatibility with over 600,000 apps and add more work for developers, just to make the phone a little bigger -- particularly when it could be done another way which doesn't do that.

>>>>>

I hope we'll see a 4-4.4 inch 1440x960 IGZO display with a 32nm A6 w/ a quad-core Cortex A9, and tri-core SGX543 graphics. 1GB of RAM, LTE, and a big improvement in battery life.

Wasn't it already reported that he worked on the next iPhone(being this one) until the day before he passed? Make no bones about it, this iPhone will be extremely EPIC! :D

How horribly mislead.

How horribly mislead.

Say what you will, but this next iPhone will be good. Apple doesn't have to over compensate for a terrible user experience by throwing in 4-5" screen. There is a good reason why the iPhone always comes out on top of the customer satisfaction polls above every other phone on the planet. So mislead, really?

... Forward to 2012 and the ipad mini is going to be boxed with sandpaper so people can file down their fingers to use it. ;)

Cause all these millions of consumers of iPod touches and nano's have no fingers at all anymore, right?

How the larger screen iPhone came to be...

Peasant: My Lordship, the people, the people like big screens.

Lord Jobs: idiots! They know NOTHING! They will like what I tell them to like!! *pounds desk* Fetch me a fresh turtleneck!

Peasant: But, ma Lord, the EVO 4G and Galaxy S2, it sells greatly across all of the the lands. The people's faces light up with joy when they see the big screens!

Lord Jobs: *eyeroll/sigh* Nonsense! HTC and Samsung wish they could pull off a retina screen! *evil laugh*

Peasant: But, Ma Lord, the Androids, the Androids they bringeth the highest of definitions of 720p displays soon!

Lord Jobs: 720p? What sorcery is this?

Peasant: It's quite breathtaking, your highness. The HTC Rezound cometh with a grand 4.3" 720p display at 342ppi eclipsing the Retina.

Lord Jobs: (Darth Vader NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!) Fetch me some ****** Androids to study. I'll show them. I'll show them ALL!!! *Evil laugh*

Peasant: Right away your highness! Would you like a different color turtleneck as well?

Lord Jobs: *Cold stare* Off with his head!

:apple:

So yesterday a larger display iPhone was a terrible idea and today it's a great idea because that's how Steve wanted it?

Well the iPhone did come out in 2010, and he died in 2011. The 4S used the same design as the 4, and I would be surprised if Steve didn't have some hand in the next design since they were probably working on it when the iPhone 4 was released.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had this design before the 4S came out. I wouldn't even be surprised if they had this design before the 4 came out even.

All these controlled leaks. . .

These leaks make me wonder if we're looking at a launch of the next iPhone at WWDC. It seems like the release will be sooner rather than later since the "usual suspects" that spread news on behalf of Apple PR are already writing stories. It seems odd that they would release stories now for a product that won't release until late summer/early fall.

They will say Steve was attached to many projects moving forward.

a) it's most likely true for the next few years
b) it's good PR for stockholders
c) it's good PR for apple fans
d) it's good PR for the press

But - isn't it funny how so many MR posters insist that Apple would never change their size from 3.5" because STEVE (and crew) had done so much research (5 years ago folks) and determined 3.5 was optimal.

Can't wait to see all the backpeddling

Most macrumors posters (or "folks", as though you're our friend or something) users admittedly speculate. They'll tell you that.

Yes, it must be a high-probability event that the new iPhone will be launched at WWDC 2012 in consideration of the recent heavy information flowing related to the new iPhone. Let us keep our fingers crossed.

I am quoting Steve Jobs you ... Inform yourself before you roll your eyes... Didn't you notice a little wink emoticon btw?
SJ on 7.something" tablets (what will soon be the ipad mini)
.... SJ: It's meaningless unless your tablet also includes sandpaper, so that the user can sand down their fingers to around one quarter of their present...

Meh. They did it with the iPhone 4's retina display. Just as the new iPad, the apps work they just have to be updated to be prettier. This isn't the fragmentation android has going for it. When i had my htc rezound, there were certain games and apps i couldn't even download. I highly doubt the new iPhone, even if it had a new higher resolution, would just make games and apps unplayable. It would just look normal, but you would be able to tell the difference between the old apps/icons and the new updated ones.

I don't think a new resolution would be as big a deal as a lot of people are making it out to be. It's about moving forward. If this is the last resolution/screen size update for a long time, i don't think the short term headache really matters. It's about thinking long term and whats good for the customer. I don't think we should keep the screen the same resolution just because it takes extra work at first to update the graphics. We've done it with the iPhone 4, we can do it again

That's an entirely different issue though. The 'taller' iPhone that MacDawg was talking about actually changed the aspect ratio and would have existing iPhone apps with black borders on the top and bottom.

Changing the resolution to 1440x960 would be perfect as we'd get more PPI and a larger display, with developers only needing to provide higher resolution assets.

There where rapports that Steve called Tim about the next gen Iphone early morning 2 days before he passed away.

So Steve worked on these devices until his death.

I miss Steve...

Steve did not want a personal cult, so we will never see that.
But if Iphone gen 6 have a metallic back, you could engrave whatever you want.

I personally WANT to see a Steve cult. Make Apple a religion so that we can do tax write off for Apple products.

That last bit made me snort. Funny!
