16GB is so 2009. Seriously I can't believe in 6 years Apple is so incredibly greedy that they can't make 32gb the default, how much more does it cost after 6 years of flash memory renaissance? $3 more? Unbelievable.

OP hasn't been back since his first post. Mods please ban. Thanks.

Dude man. I have a life outside of Macrumors. Seriously. My daughter died so you feel happy now? Just kidding.

My point is I have a friend who works at an Apple store and asked him about 16GB returns. He said he has not heard of anyone returning the phone because it was 16GB. He got returns from people who thought the 6s+ was too big and some who said the 6s screen was too small.

A person can only be in the store working certain hours. They wouldn't be able to formulate a true conclusion off that data.

I lost my son 10 years ago. I know how hard that can be. Not really a joke... =/

I apologize for the 'joke', in very bad taste. Should have said my dog died

I know its only a small sample size but that store he works in moves a ton of iPhones. Just one data point but I think the fear that millions will be returning 16GB iPhones is crazy.

Welcome back. Did you whoop superman's a**?

Rock over London, rock on Chicago.

Two scenarios with returns at this time:

Minimal amount of larger storage sizes available at stores and in the color and carrier one wants.
Minimal amount if any of 6s Plus variants if one prefers that instead no matter what color.

And folks would rather not be without an iphone so that is all. :)

I know that this is within Apple's policy so I can't say much, but this drives me nuts. All these frivolous returns are costing someone money - and it's not Apple. Those costs get passed to consumers. It also eats up launch stock when people pull this crap.

I get annoyed to no end when someone orders 4 iPhones, opens them all, then returns 3 of them keeping the "perfect" specimen. Give me a fricking break. Perfect does not exist no matter how valuable you think your phone is.

Okay. For anyone (probably everyone) that has no idea what I'm referring to, I direct you to:

Enjoy.

Yup it sucks. The few ruining for the many.

Each returned phone that is opened is costing the consumer at least $100 of added cost.

Your one friend working at one Apple store can't possibly provide statistically relevant data.

I'm also curious about all those *ahem* "re-sellers" out there on craigslist and eBay that seem to have better inventory than most local apple stores.......combined. I know they don't sell them all, heck, I wouldn't be surprised if some of those *ahem* "re-sellers" don't sell any. They return those i'd imagine.........

? Please show proof. Millions return iPhones all the time, so that is adding 100$ each time?

why not? His store sells thousands of iPhones a month.

How is his observations worth less than the few dozen who say 16GB is unuseable for anyone?

well they can't sell it for new after its openned.
so they need to sell it as an open box phone which is about $100 cheaper

Yes, by the time I put the apps and pinned a few playlists I wanted and took a few photos it was about 11GB. I'm going to New York in a week and obviously I wanted to take live photos without worrying.

did you just discover you need more than 16GB?

It has been two weeks, store stock is limited most anywhere adding to the issue of wanting to move to something else at this point isn't that easy so most folks stay with what they have.

Who is to say how many 16gb iphones were sold to begin with in that two week period, maybe other storage sizes were more popular.

I can go on and on, just don't know what the point is. Some folks only need 16gb so in two weeks what is the big deal anyway?

Bet a NYC or California store had returns of 16gb, they probably sell more iphones than any other locations. And besides, tomorrow is d-day for those that bought on release day anyway. Bet they get even more.

My view is that 16GB is enough for some but the other (like myself) need just a bit more and 64GB is way to much for the price increase. I think Apple should still do an 32GB option at half the price difference between the 16GB and the 64GB. But it's a good move on Apple behalf as I had no choice but to spend the extra for the 64GB.
