By definition an old console is an old console; it's aging and might not be working properly. The TV might not display the image as good since older systems don't have digital connections. Generally I don't mind if a system doesn't have B/C... It's when they remove it from a perfectly good system to start with and then start rumours of an updated rerelease of an old system. That's kind of weak, y'know. Like Nintendo saying they're going to remove the GC compatibility but don't worry... They're going to rerelease a new, slim GC for £70!
Exactly, and the money you save on the BC-less PS3 you can put towards buying a PS2. One of my friends got the original 60GB PS3 when they were first available in Australia and had to pay over $1000 (Australian dollars, obviously). I got the 40GB model for $700; take out the obvious price difference for the smaller hard drive capacity (which shouldn't be too much anyway) and I'd still have enough left to buy a PS2 for myself without breaking the $1000 mark that early PS3 adopters had to.
