Have all 3 consoles. Bought the 360 first since it was the first released here. It broke. Bought a Wii to keep me going, but was disappointed with it. The ports were ugly, and few of the originals grabbed my attention.

Received my 360 back, bought quite a few games for it, and it broke again. Bought a PS3 to keep me going, and have been very impressed with it.

I love the 360, but it's too damn noisy and FAR too unreliable. I'm sick of PC-industry QA being applied to consumer devices. (i.e. who cares if it fails? We'll fix it later..")

I'll still keep playing mine when it comes back simply because I have too many games for it now not to, but bar the 360's controller and the interface being slightly better, I'd go for the PS3 for any new cross-platform game.
Conversely, if the 360 was quiet, reliable and had a Blu-ray drive...

it really comes down to if are really into gaming and social gaming or not. Of the 30 people I know with game systems. 5 of them have Wii's and they rarely play them any more. 5 of them have PS3 and they rarely play them (mostly use them as a BR player), and the rest have 360's and most of them play it several times a week.

I know this may not be representative of other people, but that is why I have a 360. I have no interest in a PS3 because I wouldn't have anyone to play games with.

Also XBL is still a much better service than PSN. It is definitely worth the price. BTW: it can be had for $38.99 for 13 months (= $2.99/m) at Amazon.

The unified-presence across ALL games and the party system alone is worth it.

Also, PS3 users can't understand this and they typically think it is stupid, but Achievements are awesome. They are like crack. They end up giving you so much more bang for your buck for every game you purchase. An example is when GTA4 came out, myself, and one of my friends with a 360, and a friend with a PS3 all got the game. The PS3 guy finished the game and was done with it it. The 360 guy and myself played it for hours upon hours longer because we were scoring achievements. And it was a blast! A lot of the achievements are things that you would never do in normal game play. Like, blow up 10 cars in 10 seconds... Or see if you can roll a car end over end X amount of times. That stuff was so fun, but PS3 owners never had a reason to do it.

Ok, that is my opinion. Thanks.

All your ranting and yet so little truth. PS3 has e-dick awards.. its called Trophies, same thing as Achievements. GTA4 has them too on the PS3. You have unified presence with PSN, in fact there is very little that XBL has that PSN doesn't short of exclusive content.

I personally can careless about achievements or trophies, it makes no difference to me in a game. To each their own though, just stop trying to make XBL to more than what it is, PSN basically matches it feature for feature now and the best part is its free.

good points

I didn't play many videogames until I got the original Xbox and Xbox Live. Playing Live for the first time totally renewed my interest in video games. So it was a no-brainer for me. I got the 360 on the day it came out, and I couldn't be happier. Since I first got Live on the original Xbox, online play has become the most important feature for me. When I play a videogame, it's usually online with friends...I rarely play single player games anymore. I've played the PS3 online at a friends house frequently, and the online play on the Xbox is miles ahead, in my opinion. From communication to online gameplay, the PS3 online experience doesn't come close. I'll agree that the 360 has its share of cons, and certainly the ps3 has its pros and cons as well. But for me, it's the online play that keeps video games fun, fresh, and exciting, so sticking with the 360 was an easy choice.

I went for the PS3 over the 360 not only for the Blu-Ray playback, but also because I find the 360 so noisy that it is unusable as a movie player (I think the most recent version is supposed to be more quiet).

So that's why I bought it initially... But if you don't like shoot-em-up games, there is really no exclusive content that is interesting on the 360. It's the PS3-exclusives that are keeping me hooked like Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet, Motorstorm, MGS4, etc. These hits are keeping me addicted!

Thankfully with the new dashboard allowing install of games. The 360 when playing a game from HDD is quieter than the PS3 (admitedly still running from blu-ray).

But I'm playing ton's of Fallout 3 (hours) and barely hear the 360 at all even after running for hours at a time.

:)

Oh and the reason I still like the 360 is that some games really do work better on it such as the previously mentioned Fallout 3. It's far superior on the 360, than the PS3. So having all the machines allows me to avoid any crappy ports........ However most of my multi-platform games are bought on PS3.

Now all you need is a PC ;) to actually play Fallout 3 and all multiplatform games in their full glory.

I am a pretty big fan of the 360. I love how the controller feels/fits in my hands. The PS3 controller just doesn't quite do it for me. I play online pretty much exclusively, and CoD:W@W and Halo3 on Xbox Live is the shiz.

Xbox is made by Micro$oft and as expected it is deeply flawed both in hardware and software. PS3 is a the way to go, even though it might not be the most popular. At least by buying a PS3 you are different to all those sheep using the Xbox.

360 is better

360 is cheaper, more compatible and easier to use. PS3 is made for HD TVs, which not everyone has. If u don't have one, the PS3 looks Incredibly bad!

I never thought i would call a MS product compatible! :) :) :)

Actually have a top end mac pro, and I do have fallout 3 on it. However I just do not get enjoyment sitting at my computer desk to play games. For me I do that everyday for work (sitting at my computer desk), so for enjoyment and relaxation, sitting at my computer desk is a big no no.

Hence I prefer gaming on consoles. period....

(supplemental)

I have owned and played ALL 3 versions of Fallout 3 on PS3, 360 & PC.

Running Fallout 3 on HIGH settings (not ultra) with 1920 x 1200 resolution, and bloom lighting on to increase framerate instead of HDR, and 2 x AA on, and 8x Antistropic.... The game looks about the same as it does on my 42" LCD TV with the 360 outputting / scaling to 1080p.

The difference isn't really that noticeable between those two versions, unlike the difference between the PS3 and 360 versions, where there is a considerable difference in video quality.

Many friends have hi performance computers but like above prefer to enjoy their entertainment away from a desk.

We now have
1 PS2 some old games
1 PS3 bluray only
2 Wii's
2 360's
8 PCs (4 notebooks, 4 desktops) My son is the only one that plays games on PC's. We used t be soley PC but keeping up with drivers and compatability issues just got to be too much. Console put the disk in and your playing.

I prefer the PS3 to the 360 because the machine is stronger and built better, and Sony has the franchises and devs I love most, like God Of War, Metal Gear Solid, Naughty Dog, etc.

I do however want a 360 for the exclusives, but now that I have bootcamp and Windows XP on my MacBook, there is even less I'm missing. I don't need a 360 whereas I need my PS3.

Given how well other Unreal 3 Engine games run on a MB, I wouldn't be surprised if it ran quite well! Now, GoW2 on the other hand... :D

PS2 still beats both (sadly) as does a PC... I haven't played on a "next-gen" system in a while now (well unless you count the 15 minutes I spent to beat Gears 2) unless I am playing PS2 games on my PS3 (upconvert ftw) *sigh* it's kinda depressing.

I have an XBox 360 because it came down to price. A friend was selling his so I got it cheaper than I could have gotten a PS3.

I'd rather have a PS3, they're more reliable and have better unique games, but I saved some money, and for how much I play games and for how many games that I play are cross-platform, I'm alright. ;)

However, XBox Live isn't nearly what people say it is. PS2's net was pretty much just as good if you ask me just because it was free. I wish there was at least an option to play free XBL where we don't have the friends list and all that.

Metal Gear Solid and Gran Turismo anyone?
