In winter we have an iceskating rink in Kungsträdgården open to 21:00 making a café a great service for fun with the family.

If the market justified a cafe on its own there you'd have one. But it apparently doesn't or the local government wouldn't be asking Apple and TGI Fridays to prop one up.

"Apple had planned to host its own events and performances in the park, as part of its goal of having its stores double as "town squares.""

Why does Apple consider itself the center of the universe? I mean, it's not like people are tied to their produ...

Sorry.. hang on, just got an important iMessage I have to respond to. Oh and my iPhone just reminded me of my plans tonight which involves installing some airplay speakers and creating a new playlist in iTunes.

Be right back.

You guys saying that an apple store is better than the TGIF are missing the point that the TGIF already is going to be removed

Ha I never would have thought TGI Fridays would be a restaurant with an international presence. I haven't been there since high school (34 now).

What a crappy looking park anyway. You should be happy Apple would even want to be near that pathetic Christmas tree farm looking mess.

TGI Fridays is, after all, far more aesthetically pleasing, not to mention the peaceful smell of fried food.

Thought for the day: What if we launched fried food (instead of bombs) at our adversaries followed with a fusillade of their favorite beverage? Maybe throw in some BBQ stuff too. Is world peace finally achieved?

If the residents don't want a commercial establishment in a public park, then you have to respect their wishes. I would not want a public park to become commercialized either and e

Just plant some Apple trees there instead. Toss in a few Mac Pros as trash cans and it’ll look great.

That’s very large for an Apple store, thought they were suppose to blend into the environment . Kinda see why the proposal was rejected

I was going to say "well, yeah, I can understanding wanting to keep big box mega brands out of the space", because as big box mega brands go, Apple Retail stores are very uniquely and thoughtfully designed, but, uh, no way, they have a TGI Friday's there in that space. Probably the WORST big box junk I could think of!

Rumor has it that Apple has signed a deal in Lund, southern Sweden, for an entire 19th century building.
An Apple Store in Kungsan? Not cool.

The CEO of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, Andreas Hatzigeorgiou today voiced concern over an increasingly negative attitude currently being expressed toward a number of high profile projects. The Apple Store is only one of several. The Nobel Center on Blaiseholmen is another, the hosting of the 2026 Winter Olympics and a proposed beltway around Stockholm are yet other projects met with opposition. "Stockholm is the fastest growing of all the capitals within the EU and we need to complete a beltway around Stockholm. We need it to keep growing but also to route traffic away from the city."

I think more people can eat vegetarian food than generic one.

It is about the experience.

It kinda seems like an artificial limitation based on the emotional preference of a few.

Regular restaurant: meat + vegetarian options
Vegetarian restaurant: only vegetarian

Why does your dining experience depend on what others eat? Dig?

Smoke and odors around the restaurant and park.

Many people enjoy a meal at a nice veg restaurant.
