Nice to see happy UK buyers!! :)

Be good to see some photos! I have my own, but I'm still a bit obsessed with seeing peoples laptops and their chosen wallpapers to show off that screen! :p

Picked mine up from John Lewis after ordering at about 7:45pm last night. Great service and the free extended warranty is a nice extra too!

Can't bring myself to open the box yet until I work out exactly what the John Lewis policy is!

You'll be fine as long as you keep it and all the packaging pristine, and restore it to factory settings if you decide to take it back.

You won't want to anyway (if your reaction to it is anything like mine). :)

Got mine. Cancelled Apple order. Then ordered from currys. Then john Lewis last night.

Apple cancelled no problem. Currys said I had to wait until it was delivered to the store to cancel! Due at the store today. It never arrived.

John Lewis order arrived at waitrose. About to turn it on for the first time!!!! :))

Thanks all for the company on the thread over the last week

Josh

Yeah, you're right.

I've tried the rMB 3 or 4 times now in the Apple Store and yearned for it every time. Guess that says something. I want an iPad with OS X - right now this is the closest thing. iMac for seriousness, rMB for nonsense.

There's just this lone nagging voice inside my head saying '£1k for a 1.1 Core M'. And I've been stung recently by the thermal issues with the 5K iMac.

Currys were terrible at doing a return. I will never shop with them again. They told me I could have a refund after they received it back and inspected it, even though I had not physically collected it. After some discussion with her manager she finally agreed to refund me there and then but it reminds me why I prefer John Lewis.

You will have no problem. I have returned a few things to John Lewis and never had a problem. You do have to keep all original packaging and it has to be in saleable condition. You often see things they sell with the prefix that it was a customer's cancelled order and they mark them down a bit. But no problem, you should enjoy it.

Let's face it, Currys are rubbish. They have been struggling in recent years for a reason. Poor customer service inevitably results in poor sales.

Sorry but my experience with Curry's has always been very good.

I understand those who haven't had a great time of it, but I've had a very poor experience with John Lewis in the past.

And lets face it, had JL not had stock you would have all kept the Currys orders and given your money to them. ;)

Your opinion is as valid as mine. Each to their own. :)

(Incidentally, my money went directly to Apple.)

Of course it is. I didn't suggest otherwise.
:)

Anyway, played around with mine more this evening. Hardly done anything with it though! I just keep marvelling at the screen and the keyboard which is so much better for fast typing. I don't think there will ever be a keyboard I can type as fluently on!

Had some router troubles before (MBr not connecting) but those seem to be ironed out now.

Would be joining you all with a JL order if it weren't for the fact I get educational discount (with extended warranty included) direct from Apple. Also ordered a 1.3Ghz/512gb but might have settled or rather been tempted with a 1.2ghz and instant gratification too from JL!

All

Just been in Apple Store Reading. They have the base model in stock. The apple guy said they have had them for days. But no one told the floor staff!!!!!

Crazy. I'm going to bath store today as need to get extra charger will see if they have any.

Mains cables

I'm after the extension cable which is shown on the online store as 'coming soon'. Has anyone seen these in store?

Have a look on eBay. Whilst this is a new item for Apple to sell individually, they've historically come with any portable machine bought in the UK.

OMG.

Currys are awful. Just been in to get my refund in the canceled order guaranteed at the store for last night and the MacBook is not there yet. So not only have they missed their delivery slot they couldn't refund me.

Called customer services and they said they would refund. We will see. Expect to be having another discussion in a few days :(

At least my John Lewis experience was as flawless as always
