I absolutely love my iPad. Something I might actually consider doing is selling this in the run-up to Christmas and buy myself another model when I am in Japan next year.

The iPad has really been a blessing in disguise. It's revolutionised my interaction with the internet and completely lightened the load on my MBP.

Totally off topic: I can't stop looking at that wood. Wondering why it is in such bad shape. I hope for your iPad that it will get what it deserves... proper treatment.

So you too get mesmerized by the pattern of those shiny wooden boards?
I'm trying to see a hidden message in it, but it's written in a language I don't understand.

gotta leave the library now... the sight of that iPad gives me the munchies

it's about time rumors of the new iPad are here. i was starting to get worried. i hope it gets more RAM, dual-core processor, and 2 cameras

2 cameras? A rear camera would be somewhat awkward unless the form factor changes substantially.

Here's a question for you: right now the rest of us (well, in Canada at any rate) have an upper limit of 5 GB. Are you coming even close to that in your monthly usage? (I'm not. And I use it constantly.)

If the answer is no, does it matter whether you get unlimited?

Well, I've never monitored my usage (having the unlimited plan, I never need to :D), but I do quite a bit of streaming video of various kinds on my iPad. Slingplayer, Air Video, etc have to represent a tremendous amount of bandwidth. I can't be the only one using his iPad in this manner, either: There has to be a reason AT&T dropped their unlmited data plan so quickly after the rollout of the iPad.

current ipad is really heavy for a tablet

i hope the next one would be very light (white plastic case instead of alu?)

Take a wooden dowel. Wrap a 50" piece of thin rope to it. Attach a 2lb steel weight to the other end. Using a twisting action, roll the weight up and down starting off at 6 times 3x per day. Don't let it "slide" on the downward movement.

Work your way up to 20 reps 3x per day. Give it a few weeks. Your iPad will be a feather. :apple:

Damn it.My head is about to explode.I was close to purchasing a new ipad ,then this.Steve hates me.:(

I know what you mean - - I was close to purchasing a new 2011 Ford Focus, then I heard there's gonna be a new one in 2012! Henry Ford hates me. :(

I personally think we'll see the following on the 2G iPad:

1) Higher resolution IPS LCD touchscreen. The most likely resolution: 1280x768, which would allow for native display of 720p high definition video.

2) Faster A4 CPU--possibly as high as 1.4 GHz.

3) More RAM--at least 512 MB, 1 GB possible if Apple can get a supply at reasonable prices.

4) No more 16 GB flash memory storage version. New iPads will be 32 GB and 64 GB only. 128 GB might be possible if cost kept reasonable.

5) The same front-facing camera found on the 4G iPod touch--960x720 resolution.

6) New version of iOS (4.3?) supports resolution beyond 1024x768.

7) Supports 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi at both 2.4 and 5 GHz.

8) 3G cellular network support at least includes GSM with HSDPA/HSUPA. Possible option for CDMA and LTE if Apple offers the iPad with cellular data access over the Verizon and Sprint networks.

So you are going with a physical wider screen then?
You can't stretch current apps to cover the new pixels, so there will have to be a black unused border on either side of current apps. and it you don't make the screen physically wider, then all current apps will look squashed.

Why did you think I suggest there will be an updated iOS 4 (4.3?) that will allow iOS to support resolutions beyond 1024x768? 1280x768 is perfect since it allows for true native display of 720p high definition video downloaded through the iTunes Store.

It doesn't matter if you update the OS to support resolutions beyond that, until app developers modify their existing apps to support another resolution ratio (as well as that of the original iPad) you'll have black borders on the sides of the apps that haven't been updated.

Well, this is what I want Apple:

1) VGA camera like that on the iPhone 4, as well as the same quality rear camera
2) 1GB RAM
3) 2560x1920 retina IPS display (329 PPI same as iPhone 4)
4) CPU & GPU capable of powering games at that resolution
5) Similar battery life

Yes, that's what I want. Whether it'll happen or not I can only hope, I don't need replies telling me how huge a resolution that is, etc.

I'm really looking forward to the second-generation iPad. I'm sure it will be a big update from the current model, like the iPhone to iPhone 3G.

I ve recently bought an iPad 64 gb wifi only and I would defintaly not change just for a silly camera!! Lift ur game apple

Y'all shoulda bought the first one. Had it for months, love it.

PS: If you want a camera on your iPad, you're strange. "Hey, look at me hold up this giant device and take pictures of you/myself." strange.

Not really, the front facing camera is necessary for video chat, the rear video camera (as well as front) for FaceTime, and the camera would be useful from time to time.

I don't see it being used that much, but it would be useful... And, it wouldn't look too strange in landscape -- it isn't like a netbook.

I'm just hoping they will release a 7" iPad.

The only reason why I didn't buy an iPad is because it is too large. What's the point of having an iPad if I have to carry it in a laptop bag that fits my 13" MacBook Pro as well?
