My prediction:

Apple keeps MacBook Pro 13 inch and 15 inch as it is and they will present the new MacBook Pro 16inch as the way of the future (just like the introductions of the iPhone X). And next year, hopefully, we are going to get a 14 inch MacBook Pro as well as a predecessor for the 13 inch.

That means both products will be much pricier.

I was hoping for a redesigned 14" MBP instead of a 13". That's too bad. Wanted them to basically remove the bezels and keep a similar footprint. Now that I have a powerful iMac I want my next MBP to be more portable since I rely on it less for most of my work. I suppose the 13" will be closer in size to the 12" MacBook, which is probably why they removed it, so at least it should be a lot more portable.
I want that 14 inch MacBook Pro soooooo bad. Especially if it comes with a dedicated GPU.

Another 13“ update?
The only thing that would make sense is the 4-Port 13 inch being updated while keeping the low end MacBook Pro that was just updated for another year and lowering price slightly. However, this could create the strange fractured situation.

As always take stories like this with a grain of salt

Having Navi in a 13-inch / 14-inch body would be cool. However, they are probably going to ice lake and the integrated GPU performs around Vega 10/11 or Nvidia MX150 levels of performance so not sure if Apple would design in such a fashion. I personally would prefer an eGPU due to heat dissipation and performance. Additionally, TB3 integration with ice lake allows for great eGPU performance apparently... However, it would be cool to see a dGPU option, though they might be concerned about cannibalizing 15/16 inch sales

Argh. An October announcement means no free Beats (please spare me the “beats are crap” lecture). Big screen and new hotness vs. smaller screen and free headphones. If we knew the ports on the new one that would be the tiebreaker. If it’s the same four as the current models, I’d lean towards the current models. If the ports are better or the internals are upgradeable (HA!) then 16” all the way.

Sound advice for sure, but this will likely be the last major Mac notebook refresh using Intel processors. So those wanting the new design and bigger/better screen but don't want to deal with the headache of there being no support for Apple's own architecture in the next version, will actually want to go with this first gen.
I am kind of excited about the "headaches". I always prefer being the first with a new product, especially a new CPU than the last with the old one.
If anything goes wrong with a 1st gen, you can always get it swapped under warranty. That's what Applecare is for.

Seems like they'd be able to fit a 16" display just by reducing the bezels and keep the same footprint.

Saw an analysis that said this was impossible considering the leaked resolution (pixels have a minimum size) .. the sole pixel count would represent ~the same size as current 15inch body.

Pointless reminder because anyone can buy a 1st gen Apple product and:

1. Return it within 14-days if there is anything seriously wrong with it.
2. Get it fixed under warranty within the first year if there is anything wrong that develops.

I think his reminder still stands. To me, the “1st gen product” concern isn’t that you won’t like it after 14 days or that it will have a manufacturing defect appear within 1 year. For me it’d be more longevity concerns, and for Gen2 to have significant improvements based on feedback/experience with the new form factor.

Why would they update the MBA and 13” MBP when they just refreshed them in July?
I agree with respect to the MBA but regarding the MBP => remember, it was the entry-level MBP (the one that uses the 15w processors) that got updated, not the top-end one. Apple could possibly be updating the top-end 13" MBP this Fall.

Doesn't make a lot of sense. Maybe the plan was to refresh in October, plans changed and we received early spec bumps.

I think 2020's going to be a very big year---re-designed iMacs, iPhones and MacBooks, plus perhaps an ARM MacBook.

This is probably irrational thinking, but my first Retina MacBook Pro had an LG panel, and it developed very severe image retention after a couple of years...
I remember the panic over receiving an LG panel as opposed to a Samsung one.

I forget the terminal command that would let you check, but there was hysteria over which panel you got.

Maybe these new Macs will be running A Series processors. They'll have have both Intel and their own chips in 2 side by side product lines. They will push their own chips forward by introducing a design everyone drools over in exchange for legacy software support.

I agree with this prediction if these rumors are true. They'll keep the current lineup and then launch new models and designs chock full of the best tech (16in, 14in, edge to edge displays, new keyboards, DDR4, potentially with some combo of intel and ARM chips). "The MacBooks of the future!" Eventually these new models will be reduced in price and will replace the current lineup - but if you want the cutting edge now, they will make you pay. They must have had tremendous success with this during the iPhone X launch and decided to pull the same marketing stunt with the Mac lineup.

Least important to who? It will easily be Apple's biggest money maker.
where i said about money? i was saying about importance for the change, big step...the 2019 iphone will be poor and not interesting/boring...it will make money ofc, because it is an segment that everybody use everyday. But for most of us, we dont look at this iphones, but at the new macbooks and mac pro/display

I know it'll never happen, but I so very much want the 16" model to have a numeric pad (instead of just a tiny keyboard with massive wasted space to the left and right).

Wow, another MacBook Pro refresh a few months after the last one, yet the iMac still has spinning drives and no T2 chip. :(

I'm glad they're updating Macs so frequently, but I hope there's something more than just a bigger screen. How about new keyboard design, new display technology (microLED maybe?), better cooling, etc.

That MacBook Air update was barely an update, it was a price drop and a True tone screen. It had one goal and one goal only, people who are going back to school could get it for cheap.

"The supply chain industry reportedly expects the laptop to start at around $3,000, with Apple positioning it between the iMac and iMac Pro as a portable option for users with pro needs."
So the starting price seems ok and just based on current line up...i just hope that doesnt come with 128ssd...maybe starting with 512 as default
