Last couple of phones - I walked into a Verizon store first day - no preorder and walked out with the phone I wanted.

I wouldn't line up anyway.

Nope. Those days are gone

Nope, its a phone, not something that is life or death. If I need a new phone, I'll order it and wait it out, I'm not convinced yet that I'll take the plunge as my iPhone SE is doing fine and why spend upwards of a 1,000 for a phone
Agree totally with the above comment. Very wise!!

I expect Apple to have a device for me, regardless of shortages. I have personally steered over $50,000 in revenue to Apple over the past five years, Apple knows it, so I expect they will pull every string available to get me a device.

I wont go again ,,,, last 2 yrs i have been waiting but cant get it when my turn

I will make preorder online this year

Pre Order at midnight for me Black 256gb or 128gb iphone 8

My iphone 7 plus is a 256gb and I have 158 gb free so i might do a 128gb for my next one

Did it once at midnight until 8 am. Kind of fun being on my ipad and conversing with other nut jobs around the country. Fortunately I was in my heated car parked in front of a Verizon store in a strip mall. I was the only person until 5 am when the next guy came. When the store opened they only had 2 phones. Got the first one. I'll pre-order this time.

No I will pre-order order online at 8am (usual time they go live her in the UK).

The people that stand in line for hours and hours for an iPhone aren't the same people that hang around on macrumors. Many of us have a good reason for choosing Apple products. The people that stands in line just like the experience of standing there and waiting for a new shiny toy and being treated like a superstar when the doors open. It's a moment of glory for them. That's my guess at least.

Before preorders were a thing, standing in line was the only way to go. What model iPhone was your first?

True, but today it's just for the experience, hence why they're called stupid sheep by others. I think it's a fun occasion though for the ones who do like it.

My first was a 3GS and it was preordered :)

I personally have no desire to wait in line for the iPhone. I don’t wanna talk to the other people waiting in line and I certainly don’t want to be acknowledged by anyone for being one of the first to get the new iPhone.

Last year, even though I reserved my phone, I had to pick it up first thing in the morning because I had other stuff to do. I ended up being the first person in line at my local Apple store on launch day and a bunch of the local news outlets were there and kept asking me to do interviews and go on-camera and I refused. I even tried to keep my phone use to a minimum at work because I didn’t want people to spot the new phone and ask me about it or comment on it.

Point being, it has absolutely nothing to do with the experience of waiting in line or the “status” of being the first to get a new iPhone. In a perfect world, I could just have it sent to my apartment and wouldn’t have to interact with anyone. However, I do absolutely want the phone as soon as it’s available...which means I’ll be stuck waiting in line because I’m a T-Mobile user and won’t be able to reserve a phone.

Rather you're being completely facetious or not, Apple doesn't give a Gold standard to a customer regardless how much you have invested in their product line. It's a phone. If you're not able to purchase one when it's available, then you don't supersede the customer before you. And that's regardless if you preorder or stand in line. They treat everyone the same way, as they rightfully should.

I'll be preordering at 3 a.m., but I'm certainly not waiting online. If my preorder gets pushed back by a couple of weeks, it's not the end of the world.

I've never, and likely won't ever, stand in a long line for a device release. I feel that first batches are not worth the risk. I got a 6s that was from a fairly early batch as I'd ordered it online at release in the middle of the night. It had that battery issue where it would shut off at 30% or so.

That was the first and last time I'll do that. Now I will wait until it's available in store at my corporate carrier store.

Off topic, I'm also waiting to see which devices have Intel. This may be the year I return to Android. We'll see.

Nope, wouldn't ever wait in line, it's just a phone. I waited until a week before Christmas last year and got my wife and myself our 7+ phones online through Verizon @ $20/mo each on a promo. Sometimes it pays to wait. Also there were issues with the 7 series phones really bad in my area, so I wanted to wait until the bugs were worked out.

Being the first to have the latest and greatest isn't always the best idea. I normally wait until a phone has been out for about 6 months or so before buying just so any problems that have cropped up in the first batches are sorted out.

For the first time ever this year I preordered and was the first to have the new S8 plus and it was a nightmare! I had to exchange 2 devices as they all suffered from the red tint problem on the edges and it wasn't until the 3rd device that I had received that this problem wasn't present.

As the question states... if iPhone 8 is all of what you feel it will be... will you be lining up outside the Apple Store to get one given supply will be limited? If so, have you lined up before for other phones or will it be your first time?
this phone is scheduled to be released in 2018 ,

No, never. Is that still a thing?

I've never had a problem pre-ordering before the original release date of new iPhones even going back to the iPhone 4.

If apple have enough stock for people waiting inline i will be the first person show up their as soon as i can ...,,,

It May Sold Out in 30 minutes preorder online and that including delivery/pickup
:apple:

They won't have lines anymore. This became very obvious last year. No Apple Store worldwide had lines. People who insisted on staying were only allowed to pick up an iPhone 7 not pluses. iPhone 7 were still available for online ordering till day of launch. Making queuing up pointless

Could be because

1. Scalpers who buy 2 and have ordered 2
Online.

2. Hype not as great, shorter ques and most will prefer ordering online. media agencies will use to suggest dwindling sales
