There is offline, as opposed to web-based, US tax software for the Mac, but not for businesses. When there is no real competition, what is the motivation to improve? Microsoft, just like Apple, has mastered the art of doing nothing other than marketing for segments that they know they have a tight grip on. Realistically, there are only 2 consumer OSs in the world--if you're in the US and want to do your taxes offline, then you need one of them.
Interesting. So business has to be running on Windows? There is offline, as opposed to web-based, US tax software for the Mac, but not for businesses.
The business tax software does, from what I've been able to find out.Interesting. So business has to be running on Windows?
Not a bad deal...Up to $400 off on Surface Laptop 5. I'm getting tempted now. $1300 for i7/16/512 with 60 day return.
That's pretty damn cool. Congrats on your new purchase.Swapped the SSD to 1TB in the parking lot, was afraid TSA will confiscate my screwdrivers. Reinstalled everything on the plane, now downloading the rest from the cloud.
I really like my MBP, but I do think the ability and compatibility of ARM windows in parallels was oversold. My MBP is definitely at a disadvantage compared to my other laptop. It has great battery life, and performance, but if it can't run my apps, then its hard to take with me on my trips. This is just to run x86 VMs, which I can't do on my maxed out M1 Max
That's why I'm sticking with the base 13" MBP, as like or loth it much of the world runs on Windows. That and Mac's have become somewhat of a throwaway product. That said the performance & battery life is top tier and the main attaction. That's pretty damn cool. Congrats on your new purchase.

As I a long time windows user and still have one in the house for my wife, I definitely agree that windows really can't touch the macOS right now if you dont need anything thats windows specific. I have zero desire to go back to windows, I have an xbox series x that shares the desk with my Mac and I just flip over to that when I want to game and the Mac handles everything else I could ever need of it. My wife uses her laptop as a gaming machine as well and just way more bugs and glitches trying to get that to run as smooth as my set up.Sure, if you need to run Windows applications a Mac has never been optimal and is clearly a bad decision now.
If you don't need Windows it's glorious though and I don't see the Windows world getting close anytime soon in terms of performance/power consumption ratio
The 14" I use now NEVER needs to runs it's fans during my work day, unless I push it really hard with a long and expensive compilation or something. It's absolutely amazing and I have never seen this before.
Think much of the problems with Windows lies with the user as it's a very open system. I use both macOS, Windows 10 and Linux don't see much if any issue. The Apple Silicon Mac's are more limited, but that will pass in time.As I a long time windows user and still have one in the house for my wife, I definitely agree that windows really can't touch the macOS right now if you dont need anything thats windows specific. More limited in running old X86 Windows applications?Think much of the problems with Windows lies with the user as it's a very open system. I use both macOS, Windows 10 and Linux don't see much if any issue. The Apple Silicon Mac's are more limited, but that will pass in time.
Q-6
Much harder to run, and if you need you need...More limited in running old X86 Windows applications?

Green, nah.Congrats and while I too am not a green person, it doesn't look bad. You know what else is green? The color of money, that you saved by not buying it, so maybe green will grow on you![]()

It's all a bit easier to do now with Windows 11 as there is native support for androidMy primary computer is a Surface Go 3, I have both Windoes and Android installed on it. So it's both a Windoes laptop and Android tablet. That said, getting two oparing systems to play nice with eatch-other on the same computer can be a challange! I don't recomond it for most people, but this setup suits my needs.
