I haven’t upgraded because it’s too expensive. I won’t pay more than 700€ for 256gb top model never. In Italy this one costs 1400€, they can keep it I’ll never be interested at that price.

Lower build quality. Breakability, I consider X a downgrade because of the steel construction. Apple has established a solid standard but with Cook's missteps it will shrink from here on out.

These people know the X screen is larger than a plus screen yeah?

This has been discussed to death. There are various threads and videos and analyses of this. The short answer is that it’s really not, and anyone who is accustomed to a plus sized device and then tries the X will notice this immediately.

Still using my 6, was thinking about the 8 - but to be honest the 6 is still fine and I'll wait to see if the technology in the 8 and X merge into the 9 or whatever comes next.

Really, like hey apple, look at this SH IT economy, you see that ridiculous minimum wage and terrible pay that people are dealing with and you put out a phone with a $1000 price tag and wonder why people don't want to pay it.
Shaking head.

It's ridiculously over priced!

Bought an X - ok with the cost but really didn't like the phone.

Bought an 8 - ok with the phone but really didn't like the cost vs. my 7, meaning: the 8 really didn't do anything that my 7 didn't do just as well, and I already owned the 7.

Went back to the 7...

So cost and their existing hardware works fine. Makes sense. I always felt that cost was really the main inhibitor to X sales. If the X cost $799, the majority would buy.

I upgraded to the X but here's the problem.

As some in the survey pointed out the screen isn't a big as I'd like it to be, I would have loved to have seen a Plus version.

The new facial recognition, while pretty cool, isn't exactly faster when logging into Apps (I maybe wrong but that just my perception).

And while I like the fact Apple has tried something new (no home button, new actions) I'm not sure I have been thrilled with the overall experience. Don't get me wrong, It is not a bad phone but it's not worth the price I paid for it (256GB model).

Edit: Oh yeah, and the Notch (what were they thinking???)

I couldn't help but LOL. I know what you mean! :)

I found the 7+ to be a really great phone. I think its probably my favourite. I wasn't overly thrilled with the 6.

TouchID is coming back on iPhone 9 for sure. But if Apple is smart, they'll find a way to put back TouchID in. It is way more faster to verify than FaceID.

Yeah, thats what I thought from my experience ... facial recognition isn't as fast.

It would be pretty great if Apple somehow gave the option of both in a single phone. But I'm not sure if that would be possible or add to the expense of such a model.

Two types of people in this thread so far.

1. The ones who can’t fathom how anyone could have anything negative to say about their 1149$ smartphone. These are my personal favourite. It’s hard for someone to be honest with themselves, no one wants to hear why their 1149$ Iphone may not be worth it over other offerings. I love the Face ID argument, Face ID is SLOWER then Touch ID period and I don’t care about the “wet hands” argument. I crack up everytime I see someone say how “fast” and “better” Face ID is.

2. People who can’t justify/afford one and therefore mock anyone who gets it. Maybe even convince themselves they don’t want it. Little cognitive dissonance never hurt anyone.

I haven't "upgraded" my car because:

The new ones are too expansive
I prefer more inside room and the newer version of my vehicle has less
My current car runs just fine
Other reasons

I'm not sure why this is newsworthy. It sounds like you could apply the poll to any product and get the same results.

I bought the X, and I regret it. I do like the large screen-to-body ratio, but there are a list of things I don’t like. Not all my complaints are specific to the iPhone X, but I care about them more because I paid the premium for the most expensive iPhone.

1. Price - It isn’t worth the $1,000+ price... it just isn’t. My iPhone X cost more than some new riding lawn mowers.
2. FaceID - It works better than I expected, but not nearly as well as TouchID
3. Battery - This isn’t X specific, all iPhones are bad at battery life management. I frequently wish for extra battery life.
4. Wi-Fi Always On - This is so stupid. If I use the quick access menu to turn Wifi off, it should actually turn off.
5. Keyboard Chin - I would much rather have access to numbers than have over half of an inch of screen deficated to a Siri button and an emoji button.
6. Price - My iPhone costs more than some new MacBook Pros.
7. Slow charging - Sure, quick charging is possible, but you have to spend extra to get the USB C charge brick to make it possible. How is this not just included given Apple’s incredible markup?

I haven’t upgraded because:

  • It’s too big. Even bigger than iPhone 6/7/8 that are already too big
  • It costs too much and it doesn’t offer enough for what it costs
  • It has no touchID. FaceID is a good upgrade in limited circumstances (wet hands or gloves) and a terrible downgrade in all the other circumstances (it’s much slower and has a higher fail rate, it requires your phone to point at your face)
  • Upgrades in camera technology were underwelming (they should look into the variable aperture and higher frame rate for slomo like Samsung did)
Having three models as the ones suggested won’t solve most of these problems, so I probably won’t upgrade and stick with my iPhone 8 hoping things get better the following year.

"I haven't upgraded because I prefer a smaller form factor" notably absent...
This is the problem with polls like this. You only get to choose from the selection given. Often, the person making the poll doesn't actually make an insightful list, and just as often the person being asked isn't entirely sure of his reason for doing or wanting a thing. But faced with supplied choices he picks one. And everybody then reports those results. My own reason for not buying a phone are also not presented (decision paralysis between the 8+ and X, desire to see the X in use first, etc. Cost was a factor too but not a large one, and now it's a sense of "I'm basically halfway to September, maybe I should wait").

So people are setting with their old iPhone because it works fine and the iPhone X is to expensive. Sounds like to me there is little want factor behind the X and any want factor there is behind it, the customer looks at the price and says who needs to spend a thousand dollars when mine works fine. If it were cheaper, it wouldn’t scare people thinking of upgrading away. But this is apple, so next generation it will probably drop in price and have more features. I never buy a gen 1 Apple product.

It’s not faster for everything. And you can bet FaceID will be improved on the next iPhone just like TouchID was improved.
