I switched to AT&T from verizon just for the iPhone 4. I've had no issues. I get coverage in all the same places with both.

Is there are mention of what percentage of this happy 73% live in the DC Metro area? I have 5 bars showing but still can't manage to make/receive a call most times. Quite intriguing....

+1 on satisfied customers

I agree with the thought that the percentage of the minority that are dissatisfied who are obnoxiously vocal about it is higher than the percentage of the majority of people who are happy who choose to speak up about it. Squeaky wheels get the grease.

I left AT&T (and the iPhone) because...

...after 3+ years of promises, they still had no 3G service in the city where I live, Santa Fe, NM. I went to Verizon and the Droid Incredible, and I'm as happy as a pig in ****.

Ironically, AT&T is promising (again) 3G coverage here within 2-3 months. We'll see if that really happens.

5 bars with 4.0.1 and you can't make/receive a call? That's weird ...

I was very happy with AT&T until the week the iphone 4 launched, since then the service in my area, chicago suburb has gone to garbage, dropped calls constantly, on ip4 and i 3g.

Strange enough.
Reading this forum I was under the impression that AT&T network is a joke.
But every time I used it (I go in the Usa 3-4 times per year, mostly Miami, new York, west palm beach, Atlanta, Seattle and Washington ), I had nothing to complain about.

Now this report.
What is the truth ?

Everything on the internet is real.

Those emails from Nigerian royalty must be real.

I'm very happy with AT&T. I've been with them for almost two years, and I've only had four dropped calls. All occurred when using my iPhone 4, never had one with my 3G.

My family was with Verizon before we switched so I could get an iPhone, and they sucked big time. We routinely had outages in our area that would only affect my phone and my grandfather's phone, and would leave my mother's phone and my grandmother's phone working perfectly. We all had the same model of phone. I could literally stand right next to my mom, try to make a call, and it wouldn't connect, but if she tried on her phone there would be no problems. My grandfather who is a contractor lost a job because clients were unable to get ahold of him while he was on the road, because of one of the outages that we had. Verizon basically told us to shove our phones, and deal with it.

Anytime we've had even the slightest problem with AT&T, my mom calls, and they'll credit our account with several hundred minutes, no matter how small the problem. AT&T sucks up to their customers, which is good business IMO.

I would love to follow the money on this one.
If you live in NY or LA, SF service is terrible.

there are few who live around those cities that would agree with these findings.

Personally, I have never met a person happy with ATT so I think unless you live next door to a tower this is total marketing BS!

I don't know anyone who's happy with AT&T - I know multiple people who are dumping the iOS platform and switching to Droid - just to get acceptable carrier performance.

Those same people have said - the moment they go somewhere other than LA - it's fine. But in LA - it's just unacceptable.

I know from first hand experience via my iPad 3G - that there is NO - ZERO 3G signal in or around my house in NE Pasadena. So an iPhone 4 isn't even an option for me.

Why dump iOS because of a 3G issue, it's not just about being wireless. Surely 3G aspects of android are just as reliant on 3G - you surely have wi-fi at home, therefore a lack of 3G at home is irrelevant?

Again, this just strengthens the fact that a majority of the complaining you hear on the web is from people who never owned an iPhone, and would never buy an iPhone (unless Google sold it).

I don't mean to say that iPhone users don't have legitimate complaints. I mean to say that most are reasonable, and try and find solutions, which, for the most part are trivial. Its the nutcases on the internet who start screaming the "end is near" when they have an unexpected dropped call.

I'm happy with the service. But im not happy they don't allow to unlock the iphone after the 2 year contract. Bull S****

I had verizon until i switched to AT&T for the iPhone 4. I was very worried about the switch since i had really good signal coverage with verizon. Right now, i have the same, if not better signal coverage for the majority of places i travel. Now, if i were to travel up north in NH, that would be a different story as cell towers are a rare commodity in those parts of the woods. So far, i am a happy customer. No complaints from me.

I live in SoCal. Been with AT&T since it was Cingular. About 8 years. Seriously... No complaints. I do love AT&T.

Suck it verizon fan boys. We have the iPhone.

Curious. This study contradicts the Consumer Reports survey published earlier this year indicating that all four major US mobile operators were mediocre at best.

Verizon score just a couple of points higher than the rest of the pack, but that margin is barely above the threshold of what CR considers to be statistically significant.

To put it another way, Verizon Wireless is a 37" giant in a land of three-foot midgets.

That's because Consumer Reports sucks. How can they give iPhone 4 no buy. Unbelievable. Now that Apple proves that every phone has this same problem Consumer Reports does not go after the other smart phones and say all these phones are no buy... Screw them!!!

I guess most people are generally pleased with lackluster service. Heck McDonalds sells the most hamburgers and nobody will call that "quality food". Fact is most people are lazy and go with the flow even if they should demand better.

+1 Insightful

Everyone knows the "shiny factor" is a rather large multiplier for Apple user satisfaction levels.

Personally, I like my phone to actually make phone calls, and to not drop calls, when and where I choose. I've heard actual iPhone users say they LIKE dropped calls because it is occasionally convenient to get rid of someone they don't want to talk to anymore. What a great feature! :p

I'm totally happy with ATT here in (ATL, GA) ... never have dropped calls or anything like that. Customer service was always friend in store and on the phone.

Like others have said.. the people who are upset or not satisfied with a service will always be the most vocal.

No Complaints from the Bay Area~

Been with them ever since I got back to the States two years ago. Great service, rarely any dropped calls, and their EDGE/3G coverage has been good for me!

AT&T has been great for me in terms of service and coverage.

Their customer support for DSL is SHOCKINGLY horrific (each person you speak to will confidently contradict everything you’ve previously been told). But I’ve never actually needed customer support for my cell plan.

So AT&T is pretty much out of sight and out of mind for me. My city does have one annoying weak-coverage spot where I have some friends, but Verizon has the same dead spot. And when I used the AT&T Mark The Spot app to report the weak coverage there, a message came back saying a new tower is going up in 60 days.

Of course, people with a problem will be the most vocal and the most visible. And we should all thank them! AT&T’s not great everywhere, and someone has to push them to improve!

The main think I like about AT&T is voice and data at the same time. I could never, ever jump to Verizon until they catch up on that.

I was skeptical of users complaining so much in SF having lived there myself for 7 years with nary a problem. I moved to DC the summer the original iphone came out and it was like all hell broke loose. I have no problems in the DC area, but when I was back in SF last month for a week, the service was truly awful. I can only imagine how bad NYC must be.
