Easiest way for me is to pop two corners out and the rest of the iPad will lift out from there. If you think there is value in a removal video I would be happy to shoot one for you all.

Thumbs up!! I know this sounds like a silly request, but I'm just too scared of scratching it in the process of taking it out....

I also received the Switcheasy Canvas case today, along with an inexpensive eBay TPU black back that works with the Smart Cover, which I already have. First, I tried the iPad2 in the TPU back along with the Smart Cover to see how it looked and felt, and I must say I really like that combo. The tan leather Smart Cover looks really sharp with the black TPU back, and the back gives it extra grip and protects it, without adding much weight or bulk. It also fits perfectly, and all the cutouts are perfect.

I also eagerly opened and examined the Canvas case that came today. I do like the look and feel, but right now I have two concerns. The first is the clasp, which is VERY tight on mine, and the iPad's not even in the case yet. It's not terribly hard to close it, if you push the case lid toward the latch side, but flipping it open easily (like the Smart Cover does) is another story. The other concern I have is how to best remove the iPad from the case once it's in. I don't want to put it in until I know the best way to take it out without damaging or scratching the iPad. (Psychonaut, a video on that would be much appreciated.) I really thought that the Switcheasy case would be the best case solution for me, but right now I'm not so sure.

+1 A video demonstrating how to remove the ipad from the case would be great! :)

Thinking of returning the Speck case in favor of this for a few reasons. The primary reason is looks, a close second is the Speck case peels up my screen protector. I haven't read anything about the hard case interfering with protectors, is that correct?

Thanks

My Switcheasy Canvas case is going back :(

After getting the Canvas case today, I decided to go ahead and install my iPad2 in the case, even though the clasp seemed very tight even with the case empty. I got the iPad installed in the case with some effort, and it finally snapped in. I then tried to close the top and latch it with the clasp. Even with strong pulling on the top toward the latch, the clasp WILL NOT LATCH with the iPad inside. It strikes the edge of the iPad, and will not go over the case's plastic edge. I tried forcefully bending the clasp outward, but that didn't help one bit. Then came the fun job of getting the iPad out. The best way to do it is to forcefully bend both right corners down as far as possible and pull up on the iPad. It finally popped out, and I don't see any scratches or damage, thankfully. This thing is going back to Switcheasy for a refund.

Put in an order last Friday on the Switcheasy website. Although I got a Paypal acknowledgement, I still hadn't received any communication from Switcheasy by this evening, so sent them an e-mail asking about my order. Got this quick reply:

Hey Ken!

Since our warehouse is closed over the weekend, your order will be
received today. Unfortunately, the Canvas is out of stock, but we
will be getting more this week! You will receive an email once your
shipping label has printed and your order will ship.

We thank you so much for patience, understanding, and continued support.

Thanks,
Brianna

Mine arrived today as well. The clasp is is super tight, I was wondering if I was the only one that had that issue.

Mine arrived today and I'm also having an issue with the clasp. I'm going to stick with the Toblino 2, it's just better for my needs.

I don't understand after all the reviews and videos I viewed online that know one has brought up the problems in which everyone is having with this product? Could it be a bad batch that they are currently producing? Just reading all the comments about this product makes me want to ask SwitchEasy to cancel my order.

i got my case today, ordered on friday afternoon.

my case seems to open and close very easily and loosely without put in ipad.
My ipad still in back order, guess i still have to wait for my ipad to test it out.

My wife's new brown canvas arrived today ( kinda persuaded her to get this as I returned the similar Targus 360 in hopes I would prefer the switch easy canvas)

Pros and cons with a little comparison to the Targus along the way:

Pros:

1. Amazing how little bulk this adds considering what I expected. Heard others say this, but expected it to look and feel much thicker. ( Targus 360 is thicker due to the swivel back)

2. Sturdy as hell and great protection. (Targus 360 just as protective, but doesn't have the Velcro to hold the back half down, so it "feels" looser while holding one handed)

3. Who needs leather, this canvas is cool and unique! (Targus is leather)

4. I like the "idea" of the clasp closure vs the bungee/elastic strap (Targus) BUT (see cons, lol)

5. Viewing angles work well and sturdy (Targus just as well)

6. Port plugs are cool I guess, but doubt if I would bother.(Targus N/A)

7. Sleep wake is nice, but the advantage is diminished by the cumbersome clasp closure. (Targus no sleep wake)

8. Just looks great overall. ( Targus not that sexy IMO)

Cons:

1. This darn clasp closure...keeps it closed nicely, but too clumsy.

2. Because the clasp is a pain, it makes me want to lay the cover closed without snapping the clasp for brief pauses in use, but at that it wants to switch on and off.

3. I don't like having to handle the microfiber while holding the front cover back, oils etc will eventually make a difference. (one thing I really liked about the Targus, the back cover would bend in half enough and allowed the iPad to slide toward the clasp area so in one hand you were holding the leather. The canvas's back panel is to stiff for this. This also made for stood typing angle on the Targus without exposing the microfiber)

Still better than the others I've seen and tried.

I got my Black Canvas in today, and it is fantastic.

If I lay the cover over the top the clasp does lay against the iPad bezel, but I don't believe this is a flaw in manufacturing. For those having issues getting the clasp to shut properly try the following:

Push your left thumb, on the top edge of the spine, toward the right hand side of the iPad.

While pushing with your left thumb, use your right thumb to push down and right to latch the cover.

This works for me every time without fail.

Mine arrived today as well. The clasp is is super tight, I was wondering if I was the only one that had that issue.

That's too bad guys. Mine closes easily, and opening is just a matter of getting enough grip to pull apart (not much force is required, just need a place to grab).

I tried every which way but loose to close mine, and it wouldn't latch. I don't want a case that I have to do tricks with every time I want to shut it.

Got my Switcheasy Canvas in Charcoal this afternoon and tested it out. Nice looking case, and it provides great protection. The clasp is hard to close. I am not able to close it with ease, and I really have to work at it. I can hear the numerous clickings of my sleep/awake functions going on and off as I try (and fail) to close the clasp. If I clasp one side of the clasp first, it goes on easier (imagine closing the clasp by slowly edging it on, right to left) and it closes. But it does take effort to the point where I would be inclined to just leave it unclasped. I am guessing the clasp will loosen over time and close easier.

Video incoming tonight to show you how I remove the case. I also address concerns about the clasp. Basically it requires break in time. After 6 days of use mine is perfect but I also so you something to help the process along.

I expect the video to be up in about 2 hours from now or less.

Thanks for making the video its much appreciated! Any possible way when ever you do get the time to have a video on how you are placing the iPad back into the case? Much appreciated!

I was wondering that... sure mine isn't exactly easy to open/close but it's not like it takes a lot of effort. The tumb trick psychonaut showed in his removal video is exactly the first thing I tried and works like a charm.

For those of you who have the charcoal version, does your case show smudges easily? I have the black version and am finding myself cleaning off white smudges from time to time, especially right after it's been used as a stand and the outside cover is in contact with a surface.

Well my order has been cancelled.. Emailed them about it because I ordered from the US store because that was the only one which had the Charcoal version in stock and asked if this would affect my order as I lived in the UK and they told me the US store only ships to the 50 US states.

Hope UK retailers get them in soon so I can order one.
