I'm loving my charcoal canvas, mostly...

The case feels solid, the built in stand / viewing angles are work great for me, and it feels like the iPad is really protected.

But this thing is a huge pain in the ass to get closed, you have to use two hands to snap it shut. I'm hoping it'll stretch over time...

huh... it does seem to add a conderable amount of bulk. Takes away the iPad 2's advantages...

But this thing is a huge pain in the ass to get closed, you have to use two hands to snap it shut. I'm hoping it'll stretch over time...

I'm sure it will.... right??

In any event, I should be getting my charcoal case today!!

I've had mine since Monday and it's already started to get easier to open and close. Watch the video posted earlier in this thread on how to help the break in process. It works.

I've also contacted Switcheasy about it. We all have 45 days to return it altogether and 2 years to get it exchanged should anything go wrong. Sounds like a pretty good warranty to me.

That's my only real gripe with the case (and the extra thickness). If mine doesn't loosen up enough to open and close easier, I'm going to ditch it for something else.

See, I like that about it. Makes me not worry to much about putting it in a bag, and gives it a little more grip.

I can see where some would not like it though.

I received both the canvas and marware CEO hybrid today. Both are very good quality, but I give the slight nod to the marware. I love the hand strap feature on it, as well as the deeper groves for the stand feature (more stable). Plus, I feel a little uneasy when it comes to removing the iPad from the canvas due to the hard plastic. Probably can't go wrong with either though; just my 2 cents

I started using my Switcheasy Canvas on Monday, and the clasp definitely loosened up since then. It is much easier to close now. I am not concerned about the clasp being difficult to close anymore, because it will just get easier from here on out. I also have the Marware CEO Hybrid, and both are definitely good cases. But I think the Switcheasy edges out the CEO Hybrid. Having to pop out the two corners in order to tilt with the CEO Hybrid has proven cumbersome.

My black canvas came in today. I have to say I'm really impressed so far. The material is much softer feeling than I thought it would be original (much less nylon like than it's seemed in pictures/videos). Fit and finish is really nice as well.

I can't speak for everyone, but my clasp isn't difficult at all to open/close. I can easily do it with one hand and without thinking about it/doing anything special.

I just received my charcoal canvas and I must say the case is absolutely gorgeous. Clean, minimal and sexy. I love everything about this case and it feels really solid when holding it. I havent got a chance to really use it in all its glory simply because I just got it from the mail. The latch is very hard to open and close like most have mentioned but I'm sure over time it will loosen up. It requires a short break-in period. All in all I'm extremely satisfied. It was either this or the yoobao or speck fit folio and I'm glad I went with this one. I'm loving this case!

so for those that have now received their cases, which do u think would be better fit if i have ghost armor on my ipad: the Canvas or the Marware Hybrid??....if i want to take the ipad in and out of the case, i dont wanna mess up the ghost armor...will this be an issue for either the Canvas or Marware?
..or should i go for just FRONT ghost armor?

Thanks!

ordered Sat just got email that it was shipped today! Can't wait :).....oh...my iPad 2 doesn't get shipped till April 25 :(

Ok so I just received m switcheasy canvas!!! Im typing in it now. I've been messing around with it for about half an hour and I will post my first impressions. This is my first case, so I dont have anything to compare it to besides my high standards/expectations.

Positives:
Very sturdy. If you are looking for your case to give some protection this is definitely the case to choose.

I like the outer material. Feels nice and smooth on the hand. I'm not really much of a leather guy (I seriously just don't understand the appeal) so it's nice to have something different that is still good quality

Speaking of quality everything about the build quality is top notch.

The extras. Comes with the screen protector, screen wipe, and plugs for the 30 pin connector and headaphone jack.

Negatives:
comes with a chemically smell. But I'm sure that will fade

Weight and bulk. I was expecting this, but it still rings true. As someone calculated on here the case takes up 40% of the weight of the combined cover and iPad. Plus it more than doubles the thickness. For a device that is desired for it's weight and thinness this case does a good job of covering that up.

The inner material not quite what I was expecting. I mean it's good, I guess I was just expecting more (again my first case)

The stand positions. The highest stand position I will never ever use. It is an awkward angle unless your face is on the exact same level as the screen(how often does that happen) and it's not very stable. The next two notches are fine positions but I wish it would go a little bit lower so it would be easier to type on. I'm really not a fan of turning the iPad around for the other positions because I don't really like laying the inner material down on the surface and the other position seems less stable to me.

The clasp. I'm really trying to work this thing out but so far it does not want to cooperate. Takes a lot of effort to close. It seems like some don't have this issue so I do hope it will work it's way out.

The verdict: it is a great case, but I have a feeling I will be ordered the CEO hybrid to compare. I'll give this one a few more days of dedicated use before I go through the hassle of a buy/return situation.

Be careful... I have a case affected by the velcro issue (almost no grip now), but Switcheasy isn't responding to my emails (4 emails in almost a week and no response from them).

Product is great except for this annoying velcro issue, but the after-sales service is leaving me a little worried.

Are you sure their responses aren't going in your junkmail folder? They respond to me usually within a few hours with my questions. Also, I'm still finding it hard to believe that valcro (any valcro) would just stop working.

Got the case today and really like it. I agree with the clasp being tight and that should work itself out over time. I don't understand the complaint about the stand positions, didn't people view the functionality and do their research before purchasing? Also, the smell is noticeable, if you have your nose within an inch of the case.

I love the look and its versatility. I will def need a better screen protector because this one will show fingerprints.

Definitely impressed with the response time.

Ordered around 2pm, received an email this afternoon, shipped via priority.

Damn, never thought I would look forward to a Monday :p

I ordered this case on Tuesday night and it arrived this afternoon. Pretty quick, since I received the e-mail about a 4 day delay.

Other than this case, I have bought both the Apple polyurethane smart cover and the Speck Pixelskin HD. I thought the smart cover's stand mechanism was flimsy (it fell apart on me the few times I tried it, and I checked to make sure I had folded it correctly) and was unstable on soft surfaces (lap, bed, couch). Plus it didn't cover the back, so using it as part of a case solution would've been expensive and inadequate for the way I wanted to use it.

I liked the look and material of the Pixelskin HD. It was quite slim (not much bulk) and made of a rigid but somewhat flexible, protective rubbery material. It was heavy, but that wasn't a dealbreaker. However, it didn't have the sleep wake feature, and having a stand mechanism similar to the smart cover (except without magnets), it wasn't stable on soft surfaces. Since I like to use the iPad in bed / on the couch / on my lap, that wasn't working for me. Both of those cases are getting returned.

The first thing I noticed about the Switcheasy Canvas was that the material of the cover wasn't quite what I expected, even after watching video reviews. It was more fabric-y and not as smooth and plasticky as I expected. I'm more of a leather or silicone kind of person, but I can live with this material.

It's a heavy case, even heavier than the Pixelskin HD. It's also fairly bulky - not huge, but not as slim as some other cases I've seen. While I wish those aspects were different, I will keep this case anyway. Why?

It protects all of the iPad, even while in the stand positions. It seems quite protective, as far as cases go. It is very sturdy on soft surfaces - when I'm using it in bed or on my lap, I don't have to prop it up against anything and I can tap on the screen as much as I need to without the iPad feeling like it's going to tip or collapse or shift position. The look of the case isn't quite as basic as I would prefer, but it's not unsightly.

I removed the case a couple of times after I received it, and it's not damaging as long as you're gentle with it. However, this is not a case I'd recommend if you plan on taking your iPad in and out of the case frequently.

I find each of the stand positions useful depending on the angle I'm in.

The latch that keeps the case closed has not been a problem for me. When i first got it, i tried the trick where you push slightly on the left side of the case with one thumb while you close the latch with the other. That worked fine, and even now after only opening and closing the case a handful of times, I can open and close it with one hand without much effort. Basically, it's a non-issue. Also, so far my Velcro works fine - nice and secure.

So, that's my review. It's not a perfect case for aesthetics or portability (not that it isn't portable, but it could stand to be thinner and lighter), but for security and practicality for my purposes (sturdiness, multiple positions) it's the best thing I've found so it will be the one I keep. :)

I only have one small issue - I have the black case, but the plugs that came with it appear to be the colour of the charcoal case. I assume that was an error, but I'm not going to bother contacting Switcheasy about it. For anyone else who has the black case - what colour are your plugs?

I normally use screen protectors on electronic devices, but have not felt it necessary to do so with the iPad 2 protected with the Canvas SwitchEasy. It's actually nice to view the screen... naked.:D. Fingerprints clean up much faster too.:)

I like the canvas material because it doesn't slide around when sitting on the arm of my couch.

Black.:apple:

Here's a pic of the latch. Mines is VERY difficult to close. As you can see, I would have to force it over the lip.

Thats how my latch is too, extremely tight. I find it easier to close if i start with one edge rather than trying to push the entire thing.

That's exactly how mine is too. It makes it easier to latch if I push along the hinge toward the latch as I press on the clasp. I also start on one edge of the clasp and move toward the other. It has gotten some easier with use, but I won't keep using the case if it continues to be this hard to open and close.

Yeah, I'm sure it's not in my junk folder. Still nothing from them... maybe they've decided to ignore velcro issues? Anyone else get a response specifically about the velcro?

I have had no issues with Switcheasy's customer service. I've emailed them numerous times and received a response usually within a few hours. I have the Canvas in Charcoal already. I placed an order for the Canvas in Black yesterday morning, received a shipping notice yesterday, and discovered it will be shipped today! One day delivery (via USPS Priority Mail). It ships out of Tracy, and I live in Northern California, which explains the super fast shipping. I am still impressed by their service.
