Order Process

I have been lurking on this forum for over a month. I ordered a Portenzo but since there is product delays in hand built items i decided to get something else as well. I orderd on Thursday and received product today in Georgia. I like the quality and customer service. This is the best mass produced product I have seen so far.

I ordered mine on Wednesday and I got it in NC today!!! I love this case!!! It does add some bulk, but I think it's well worth it. The iPad feels nice and secure now. The screen protector went on almost flawlessly and was a nice added bonus.

Edit: whoops pictures are pretty big!

Very nice looking, I love the black one but decided to get charcoal instead for a change. Loving the pics! Would love to see more pics of everyone's setup with their switch easy canvas case.

Anyone else's clasp starting to "chew" into the polycarbonate where it closes?

Starting to happen to me as well. The latch has loosened up slightly, but the shell area where the latch opens and closes is starting to indent a bit. That indentation is making it easier to open and close. Still a pain to close with 1 hand though (which is what I want).

I wish I could open/close mine with one hand. It takes two hands pressing and pulling just right to make it open and close. The sad thing is that I really like the case otherwise, but the clasp issue is becoming a real pain (in the fingers).

I'm experiencing the same issues with mine as well, it's made an indentation on my shell too. I really hope it gets better soon. Such a pain to close.

This has happened to me as well. I sent them an email about it and they basically just told me I have 45 days to return it. Having a dent in the shell isn't the worst thing in the world, but I also wish it wasn't there....:)

I'm loving the design of the case. I hope that my break in period of the latch will loosen up as time goes by cause at the moment its a pain top open/close!

Frankly, I'm disappointed in the Switcheasy Canvas because of the latch. I've been using it a couple of days and the latch is pretty bad. Yes, I hope it will get better; but I think the fact that it is such a problem initially is the mark of a poor design. Guess that's what happens when cases are rushed to the market before they are ready.

Okay after about 3 days of opening and closing I can safely say that the latch is getting better, it's still tight but not as bad, I believe it will get better in the next few days. So hopefully you guys will have better luck with yours as well.

The clasp has definitely loosened over the last few days. That was the only issue I had with this case, and now it is really a non-issue. This is the best case I have seen and tested so far. I've tried out the Marware CEO Hybrid, the Speck Pixelskin, the Speck Fitfolio, and the Cygnett Lavish Earth. None compare to the Switcheasy Canvas in terms of protection and value. Yes, it is a little heavier than other cases, but the additional weight is due to the extra protection provided by the polycarbonate shell. The Canvas also looks good, IMHO. Sleek, clean, and simple. No fussiness in the looks department. With this case, I think you get more bang for the buck. The CEO Hybrid is a not so close second choice. I was annoyed having to force the two ipad corners out just to tilt it when using the CEO Hybrid.

The Canvas is the clear frontrunner for me, with no close seconds.

Those of you with continuing latch issues should email them about it. Mine has been easy to open since it came in (Friday) and has remained about the same since, maybe a little looser.

Just in case it's a closing strategy issue and not an issue with the latch itself, I thought I'd explain how I close this case (even one-handed) without a problem.

If I try to just push down on the latch area, it's really stiff and seems like it will damage the case and/or iPad if I force it. Instead, I put my thumb slightly left of the latch and my other fingers on the back of the case. I pull the cover of the case slightly to the right with my thumb, which gives the latch enough clearance to the iPad's right edge that it closes easily and doesn't grate on the polycarbonate or strike the iPad's screen.

After using it for a few days, my only problem with the utility of the case is that the grooves that create the stand positions are kind of shallow, so depending on how I'm sitting, sometimes the iPad will slip out of the higher positions into the lower ones. The only way this could probably be remedied would be for the grooves to be deeper (thus the cover being thicker), so I guess I can deal with it. I doubt I'll be switching to another case, as this one suits me pretty well.

OK, I just got my case 15 minutes ago and it is fantastic. IMHO, does not add much bulk and it is the only case I have tried that makes the ipad feel like one solid unit.

That latch IS a bitch however. MY technique to close it has been to put my thumb to the left of the latch but also at the bottom of the latch. Then I apply pressure with my thumb and push down on the bottom of the latch and work my way up. THEN it closes. Whew!

It almost seems like the cover is too short for the latch to close but that is not the case. I almost wanted to bend the latch out a bit with pliers to solve the problem but I don't want to destroy this case within the first half hour of ownership, lol.

Seems like a lot of us have figured out the best technique for opening and closing the case. But we shouldn't have to do that, if the case was properly designed. I actually have tried to forcefully bend the clasp outward with my hands to give it some more clearance. Haven't tried pliers (yet). I'm going to use mine a while longer to see if more break-in helps, and if not, I'm going to return it for a refund within the 45-day period.

The case was designed to keep itself firmly latched shut. This is better than it flopping around all the time. In fact if it were any looser then after a small "break in" period it might stop holding it all together. I'd rather it be tight at first and then become perfect instead of it being great at first but then become too loose.

Hey there's a reason that they added the up down system. It's to prevent these +1 responses. Well I mean that's one of the reasons

I went back and re-read the Ilounge review of the Switcheasy Canvas. They rate it very highly. They also mention that they received four different cases for their review:

"On three of the Canvas cases we tested, we found that the latch to hold the front lid shut requires just a little bit of extra force to be put into place—this tension helps insure that the case stays shut. But on the fourth case, it was actually hard to close the latch, requiring even more pressure, a small production issue."

So it looks like some of us have some problems with our cases, while others are OK.

Well, after opening and closing this case a hundred times I may develop the most muscled thumb on the planet.

I can tell you that there's no danger of mine ever getting too loose, unless I whack off the top cover.

I have spent countless hours reading reviews and recommendations for a case and I finally pulled the trigger on the Switcheasy Canvas last night. I will cross my fingers and hope that I don't have the same latch issue as others have experienced.

For those of you that ordered this case from Switcheasy's website, how long did it take before you received an order confirmation? I paid via Paypal and I received the automated Paypal email but nothing from Switcheasy.

Canvas with full body shield?

Does anyone use Canvas with full body protector? I came across this Canvas review and it looks nice. But I have applied the bestskinsever shield(similar to Zagg) on my ipad 2 and don't want to remove the back shield.

Many thanks!

update:
did a search on this thread and found someone already confirmed that ipad 2 with BSE does fit with Canvas.

Here is the link to the post.
