what happened to the slots for the ipad to sit in ...

u guys think those grippy swirls will hold the ipad ?

It seems as if now there are two rubber feet on the shell that will hold it in any position you want. Click on the middle picture above "DUAL FUNCTION"

Don't know what color I want... Had the black

Red is cool but maybe too feminine
Grey is neutral - maybe it will get boring?
Brown looks good but wonder how it will look on person

I do not believe it covers accidental damage. You would have to ask them that.

The iPad 2 Canvas, while a fantastic case, had an issue with the plastic cracking on its own. I know first hand that these cracks would just develop on the corners no matter how much you "baby" the device/case. I think the stress of the tight fit along with the type of plastic used resulted in this. However, because of how awesome they were with responding to this defect, I was totally fine with the issue. It took away all hesitation for me in buying a case I couldn't "see" before I buy it.

The company really earned my loyalty in how they have handled their issues. A lot of products have defects, but rarely do companies stand behind their product like SwitchEasy. Two years worry free from defects? Sign me up!

I would be surprised if it covered accidental damage. Not many companies could survive in that scenario.

Really? I did not know this. Does it cover accidental damage? My iPad 2 fell from my night stand and landed on it's back. This cracked the back corner of my previous Canvas case.

The fall also dented the rear corner of the iPad and raised the glass on that corner by a millimeter at best, and I'm sure this was because of the snap in design of the case (the plastic forcing whatever it could 'upward'), but I'd rather have something minor like that happen versus a cracked screen or worse.

I picked up 3 of the 4 colors last time around for the iPad 2 but found i never used my red case. it was just a little too bright for me - almost like a fire truck red

Rubberized... the gray version. It did feel like the grip improved a lot over time though.

Thanks for the follow up :) Was leaning toward the rubberized versions of the cover and definitely more so now as I'm sure the clear cover would be even more slippery.

Just to change tack slightly - has anyone in Europe tried to order this new case online? When I add it to my shopping cart it says there is nothing in my cart then only gives me the option to buy screen protectors for the new iPad, no cases at all....

US site works fine, no problems at all....except that I want to buy from the Europe site!..

I was just watching your older reviews to see the colors. Nice job. You know you somewhat look like the physiatrist character from arrested development?

Hmm so grey or brown? I see the plastic color is now uniform.

Whats the point in buying a CoverBuddy when it only covers the back when they offer the Canvas that covers front and back?

Because I have a smart cover on order and it matches perfectly. Only had a back cover on my iPad 1 anyway because I didnt want anything coverIng the screen.

Interesting to hear about that defect, I wasn't aware of it when I purchased mine sometime around June. Was this a long-known defect?

I wouldn't expect them to cover accidental damage, but was curious either way. Doesn't really matter anyway as I no longer own it or the iPad that I bought it for. I agree with you on the quality of the company and the product though. In fact, that and the massive amount of praise that the company/Canvas case got for the iPad 2 is what made me purchase it in the first place.

I went ahead and cancelled my Lexington pre-order. This one just looks more my style. Think I'm going to hold off buying until Friday though. Maybe we'll see more options or a discount.

There won't be a discount; I already emailed them about it.

i dont see any pictures of this case being used as a keyboard stand ... u guys think the cover can be folded back in a way that it can be used as such ...

i was also looking at the rotating cases that can stand the case in portrait and landscape but i am guessing when would people really put in portrait .. ????

I just ordered the red as well. I found this folio case to be much sleeker than the rest, and as for color, I wanted something vibrant and nice to look at.

I was originally going to go with Apple's red leather smart cover, but it's just too damn expensive, not to mention I'd have to get an additional case for back protection.

Can anyone explain what this means again? "New and improved unique latchless self adhesive cover".

check out post 27 for the latches and self adhesive is probably with magnets as they got rid of the clasp on the side to keep closed

I own the canvas for the iPad 2, and I'm surprised to see that this version doesn't seem to allow for a typing position. The front cover looks to be one solid piece, whereas it's able to fold on the iPad 2 version.

Strange

I was surprised also. Perhaps, if you place it in viewing position, and bend the case fully, the typing position could be adequate. The rubber feet could hopefully prevent the viewing position from "falling" as the rear case bend begins to wear. =/

I agree. This is the only reason I haven't ordered it yet. I am trying to figure out if it's a deal breaker for me or not.

I don't worry about the rubber feet holding steady as much as I worry about the rear "bouncing" for lack of better support if typing while it is in the lowest stand position possible.

I will most likely still order it, but that omission baffled me as well. The unadvertised typing position of the iPad 2 version is rock solid when typing - but you can't do it without the front cover "fold".

Already starting a case collection and I don't even have the iPad yet! Geez.

After I submitted my PayPal info, it redirected me go Switcheasy and the screen simply said, "Thank you." No "place order," no confirmation screen...and no confirmation email. I got one from PayPal though.

Anyone else have this happen? I emailed them about it.

CoverBuddy or Macally Smartcase

So I've been dead set on the CoverBuddy after a week of researching other covers and threads and came across a thread from last year where it was discussed how some covers could lock in the smart cover to keep it from coming off.

Here's a short video to explain:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibT5CEvKoHM

After watching that video I don't think that would happen to me however I could totally see that happening when someone asks to see my iPad. So I'm considering purchasing the Macally Smartcase. iLounge did a review of them last year here: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/macally-smartcasec-for-ipad-2/

Their website also shows their lineup for the newest generation: http://www.macally.com/EN/Product/ipad3.asp

Anyone have any thoughts or experience with Macally? On one hand I'd like to be able to take the Smart cover off when I want easily and without taking the case off however I don't want a friend or child picking it up and dropping it like in the video.

Thanks
