So I've been dead set on the CoverBuddy after a week of researching other covers and threads and came across a thread from last year where it was discussed how some covers could lock in the smart cover to keep it from coming off.

Here's a short video to explain:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibT5CEvKoHM

After watching that video I don't think that would happen to me however I could totally see that happening when someone asks to see my iPad. So I'm considering purchasing the Macally Smartcase. iLounge did a review of them last year here: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/macally-smartcasec-for-ipad-2/

Their website also shows their lineup for the newest generation: http://www.macally.com/EN/Product/ipad3.asp

Anyone have any thoughts or experience with Macally? On one hand I'd like to be able to take the Smart cover off when I want easily and without taking the case off however I don't want a friend or child picking it up and dropping it like in the video.

Thanks
For $20, that is one of the better priced Smart Cover compatible cases. This is definitely worth a looking at from me. Thanks for that!

You're welcome! From the iLounge review date they said this was the best back cover case they had reviewed and they had already reviewed many of the cases that other threads are presently discussing (last years models anyway) so I'm really having a bad case of indecision

Me too =/ It was between the Cover Buddy and the Incase Mag Snap (which was winning), but this new one is surely winning right now...

I ordered a SwitchEasy CANVAS in charcoal for new iPad 2012 at 11:43 AM and received only a Paypal notice. At 2:51 PM, I received my shipping confirmation (from Viktoria?), inviting me to follow SwitchEasy on Facebook. The package is shipping to San Francisco.

Jordan at SwitchEasy kindly responded to an earlier inquiry regarding the true color of Charcoal: whether it was true grey or a grey with taupe or brown hues. He indicated that it has a dark olive/grey hue to it but does remain "very very similar to the charcoal for iPad 2 CANVAS". [The CANVAS grey for iPad 2 is lighter and can be distinguished as solely grey.] Jordan also shared photos with me, which I've included with this post.

I debated a black CANVAS, but I'm going to stick to charcoal CANVAS for the new iPad 2012. I ordered iPad in white, so I think the Charcoal will look great with the white bezel of iPad.

Now im debating getting that grey
I liked that the CANVAS in charcoal had an interior that was light (white); this suits a white iPad bezel better, IMHO. If you have a black iPad, the light (white) interior might clash and sport too much contrast, IMHO.

Check the picture on their product page, they have a black ipad in the charcoal case. Doesn't look bad to me.

Is the Switch Easy Canvas shipping now? If so might have to cancel the Lexington!

i contacted switcheasy on the keyboard stand and unfortunately its a no go for the new version case.. this case was high on my list now just went down some notches.

Hey there,

Unfortunately the Front Cover of the Canvas Case does not fold to the KeyBoard Stand any longer. The New Canvas has been redesigned fully to correct previous flaws with some of the Defective Canvas Case's for iPad 2. If purchased through SwitchEasy.com you will receive the Two Year Warranty and also have 45 Days from your purchase date to Return anything for a Full Refund. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you,

I just ordered a Canvas in black from the International store (I'm in Canada). My last Canvas got here almost overnight from HK (they use FEDEX). Am hoping it gets here by Friday to go with my pre-ordered iPad. I also have a Beyza Executive II headed by way, but it's coming in the mail from Germany and not expected for at least a week.

I'm a big fan of the Canvas. As long as they have the cracking issue addressed, I think I'll like this case a lot.

Wait...So the new SwitchEasy Canvas doesn't have a keyboard prop 'mode' like the old one? Well the thats unfortunate. Glad I didn't cancel my Lexington order yet!

The company really earned my loyalty in how they have handled their issues. A lot of products have defects, but rarely do companies stand behind their product like SwitchEasy. Two years worry free from defects? Sign me up!

Precisely. That's why I ordered a new one. Awesome customer service.

Does that mean it the front flap will cover the camera hole when folded back? The front crease used to allow you to form a wedge to take pictures.

Any idea if an ipad with this case on will fit into your typical ipad sleeve?

I use my Ipad 2 inside both a Switcheasy Canvas and then I put that inside my SF Bags "Ultimate Sleevecase". It fits snugly, but no issue getting the case/iPad in and out.

The new version looks slimmer, so it should be business as usual.

TBH Im not sure. Very disappointed if this is true though!

Already starting a case collection and I don't even have the iPad yet! Geez.

After I submitted my PayPal info, it redirected me go Switcheasy and the screen simply said, "Thank you." No "place order," no confirmation screen...and no confirmation email. I got one from PayPal though.

Anyone else have this happen? I emailed them about it.

Mine did the same thing. I'm pretty sure that's how I ordered mine last time (for the iPad 2).

I've got two cases myself!

Any idea the method the new Canvas uses to close? I don't want my cover flapping around.

My email was promptly replied to and my order was confirmed. He said I should get a shipping notice tomorrow morning.

I'm forced to use the International site so I don't think they're answering right now.

So, the fact you only got a Paypal confirmation after going through the motions was OK? My Paypal notification did have the entire order in detail in the body of the email, so I'm assuming I'm good to go.

Thanks for the info.

That is exactly my scenario and I was told that my order was received and would be shipping tomorrow. I think you should be sittin' pretty!

Edited to add: I just rechecked my email and it says I should receive tracking "no later than tomorrow morning."

I didn't realize there was an international site. I placed my order through the main site and just selected 'Canada' when I entered my billing/shipping info.

I already received the PayPal email, but i wonder if there'll be problems with my order (I only paid $4 for shipping).

This is my concern as well

Some cases have strong enough magnets the keep the case closed...which the smart cover from apple doesn't do well at all.

Think I'm gonna wait to hear from the reviews before I drop a 50 spot on this.
