I am getting the CoverBuddy, but can anyone tell me if the Canvas case works well as a stand for reading in bed?

Ordered Black Canvas

Having experience with the iPad 2 Canvas, I considered the differences with the new model and thought through my use over the past year. I will miss the "unadvertised" typing position, but overall, I think there are positive trade-offs with the lack of a fold in the cover as well. I was hesitant, but pulled the trigger. I figured I have 45 days to make sure I like the case and that nothing else comes out in that time that I prefer over it.

I actually felt relief after ordering the case for no other reason than I could stop thinking about it.

iPad - check
Case - check
Screen protection - check

Now I can just relax and enjoy it :)

Does anyone know if you can put the new Canvas in a typing angle/position?

No. Another member has received confirmation from Switcheasy saying that this is no longer possible. Although, I'm sure with some handy DIY craftwork and a pair of scissors this may change!!

Question for those of you who have owned an iPad and a case. How important is the typing position on a case? I'm leaning towards the Canvas but not sure without the typing position.

It's a deal breaker for me. I use mine in the typing position 80% of the time. Trying to type in the "viewing" position is too awkward because the angles are steep. Plus, it doesnt hold position too well on soft surfaces, I use m iPad a lot while laying on my bed/couch.

I'm absolutely shocked that they dropped the feature. Hopefully the new grooves have a comparable keyboard position.

since they got the canvas case i sent them another email asking when they would get the cover buddy.

I didn't realize there was an international site. I placed my order through the main site and just selected 'Canada' when I entered my billing/shipping info.

I already received the PayPal email, but i wonder if there'll be problems with my order (I only paid $4 for shipping).

Yeah, they only accept US orders from their US site. Your order will probably get canceled. I fell for that a while back.

You didn't actually enter your destination in Switcheasy's site. You did that in Paypal.

It's $15 to ship from Taiwan. They use FEDEX. Shipping is usually blazing fast, but they seem to be stumbling a bit on this transaction. Probably dealing with whole iPad 3 rush from a different angle.

Who knows, maybe you'll luck out and get one for $4/shipping. Granted, those ship from Switcheasy's US location, so probably just a matter of time before someone clues in. ;)

I'm surprised too. Luckily for me, I don't use the typing position much.

Anyone had experience with the Cover Buddy and Incipio Smart Feather? How do they compare?

Just got an email from SwitchEasy customer service and they say the cover buddy for the new ipad will be ready within 10 days.

I had the CoverBuddy for my iPad 2 and really liked it. The edges were nicely beveled and didn't come up too high over the edge of the iPad. No scratches either after taking it off and the back had a nice feel to it.

The difference between the Smart Feather and the CoverBuddy is that the Smart Feather has a retention bar that keeps the Smart Cover in place. The CoverBuddy does not (as least with the iPad 2 version) so you can easily remove the Smart Cover. Whether that's preferred is up to you. Personally I liked being able to easily pop off the Cover since I didn't like holding it too long with the Smart Cover folded back.

Well I am in a case dilemma. I originally ordered the Lexington Incipio case, then I canceled that order because the more and more I thought about the buckle, the more it seemed like a bad idea. Then I bought a dark grey polyeurerhane smart cover with the intent of buying a case for the back of it. Then I thought about that, and I can't bring myself around to spend another $20-$50 for a quality case on top of the $40 smart cover. Now that the canvas is released and it seems to be getting decent reviews, I am really tempted to return the smart cover and buy either the Canvas case or anothe folio case that has the multiple viewing angles. I am stressing out too much over these cases >.<

I'm in the same boat. I was ready to bite on the Canvas until I found out about the keyboard situation. Buying products day one definitely has its draw backs.

The buckle keeps the device from flapping around, like most cases that only have magnets. I used a Yoobao 1st gen and it had the same style as the Lexington...it was great to use and doesn't take any effort with the loop.

Don't think I'll be buying any cases with just a magnet top closing style

Interesting. Thanks for the input :)

My order arrived via USPS Priority Mail only 25 hours after I ordered it: AMAZING! The CANVAS in charcoal looks classy. The outside looks like an olive grey (more grey) and very natural color looking. The plastic back is definitely grey with little to no olive color.

I'm working with Jordan on the SwitchEasy NUDE. He will advise if the NUDE for iPad 2 fits the The New iPad as soon as he gets one in his hands tomorrow.

I sent an email to SwitchEasy this morning regarding when the Cover Buddy will be released. Someone replied back saying that yes it is but they are waiting for a new ipad to see if/how they will have to modify it to fit properly.

Having second thoughts on the CANVAS case for new iPad (2012). The lack of a typing position and the lack of flexibility in the spine (which could allow the front to bend behind the back of the case) aren't positives. I plan to return the CANVAS and wait on a Yoobao Executive Leather. In the interim, I'll use the Kensington Netbook Reversible Sleeve that I've used since first-generation iPad (2010)

these are my thoughts ... i was going to purchase the canvas till i found out that the keyboard stand is a no go ... i guess all the people buying arent concerned about that view.
