Yeaaahhh..... I'm out. 17 years of service later, it's gotten to be a little too much. We've come a long way from the "Uncarrier". Hunting around and researching MVNOs now, might go with Visible.

And this is why we left T-Mobile last year, they violated their price lock guarantee even though we had the paperwork showing that it was going to remain at a set price.
We challenged them on this showing the actual paperwork when we signed up with no expiration date and they said that’s just a promotional incentive to get people to sign up not an actually guarantee.
For me to get a similar plan it went up over $100 a month for a single phone line plus hotspot and Gateway.
That’s not even counting if I want to get a new phone, that’s an additional $50 a month for three years. Insane.

Now I’m paying $25 a month for unlimited data and an additional $30 a month for a gateway.
It’s always better to buy your own phone now.

Not certain what plan on, but premium and free phone every two years. It is the “similar” that concerns me. When got the iPhone 15, remember was better to stay with old plan and even employees agreed. The new equivalent plan, while priced the same, they diluted some features and think also the “tax included.” Technically eligible for iPhone 17, but trying to wait until 18. The big issue, I travel to Europe frequently (like now) and the others can’t touch their free internet/text feature (unlimited plan or to plan limits). Will have to investigate.

Somewhat interestingly (to some, maybe?) - we just switched to US Mobile from our T-Mobile legacy plans about a month ago.

I'd recommend US Mobile just for their relatively competent help staff. But they're also cheaper, and you can pick any of the Big 3's networks (and also switch later).
I have switch things around several times, I always have two networks and play around with what combo works best.

I recently switched:
I paid $14 a month for UNLIMITED EVERYTHING including hotspot. I can choose ATT / Verizon / TMobile as the backer or have it auto switch depending on carrier that is stronger in the situation (for a few dollars extra). I brought my whole family over and its been the best service I have ever used. Both in terms of network quality and ease of setup.

Took me all of 5 minutes to switch over. I will never use another service again. Been nothing short of a 10/10
Curious how does it auto switch? How much more is that? I just wish US Mobile and Visibile+ AW plans would work for making calls/texts/data in Canada and Mexico, as is nice not to have to take your phone everywhere, as we travel to Canada quite often and sometimes Mexico.

I'm definitely not expecting to see so many US Mobile customers here. Fortunately, I'm on the legacy Unlimited All plan which comes to $25/month taxes included. Got 4 lines so that gives me 2 perks worth $15 each so currently paying only $70 after taxes for 4 lines. And this includes free international line for travel. 150GB of premium data as well.

Definitely not switching to the new premium lines just for hotspot and Apple Watch benefits. Only had to deal with CS a few times over the years but they're great. Only thing I'd like to see them implement is the 5G SA.
I have been using them for a year now, no issues, I have two networks and have played around with what works best for my area. I currenly have VZW and ATT and it only cost $54. Also, beausse I have wrap (VZW) as my main I get watch add-on for free.

T-Mobile’s former CEO, John Legere, is somewhat like Steve Jobs in that he prioritizes customers, whereas the two CEOs that succeeded Legere, first Mike Sievert and now Srini Goplan, are somewhat like Tim Cook in that they prioritize maximizing profits.
That’s not how that works. John Legere was hired to do two things and two things only: Get T-Mobile out of last place at any cost and then get the Sprint merger approved. He left immediately after. The whole plan all along from the board was to pump up the company to ridiculous heights and then pump us for all the cash we have once they’ve hoarded customers. And it worked. They’re the top dogs. They hired him for a very specific role and he played it well.

I’m paying monthly, $35 for unlimited premium on Dark Star (AT&T)

The same caveat applies to all MVNOs: you’ll show up as “Wireless Caller” instead of your name on people’s caller ID. And the various spam call stoppers only work on the actual carriers.
That is interesting. Like having my name show up when I call someone, but if someone has your contact phone number in their list of contacts, your name should still show up - right?

That still seems pricey compared to our T-Mobile Military plan that includes taxes/fees even after the price increase will be at $36 a month, plus my $5 AW plan. Plus, the other benefits that T-Mobile offers like Netflix, etc that bring the price down more.

Haven’t been contacted by T-Mobile yet about a price increase. $86 per month with unlimited data (old Simple Choice plan) for 5 lines will be hard to beat elsewhere — plus the fact that I’m tied in with various free phone or inexpensive phone credits — so unfortunately I might need to eat the price increase at least until the phone credits are done.

There was a time, when you couldn’t just switch over to a different carrier, as there network was set up different & if you had a phone locked to T-Mobile, you couldn’t go to Verizon. Not sure if it’s still the case

I pay $184.09 for 4 lines on T-Mobile Simple Choice. Coupled with the dining rewards, free internet on flights and the other perks, I feel it is a good deal. I don’t know how some people are paying so darn much!

I am expecting this with us soon enough. I have 860gb of data to share between all our devices. The new plans only give 5gb of tablet data and capping the hot spot at 50gb per month on my phone. THey are squeezing us here everywhere you turn since the three telecom suppliers all price fix and plan match.

If they do change my plan, I will move to the other place. Regardless if it's a dollar or a hundred dollars increase. All principal for me. I signed a contract where they can't change my plan unless I do it. Therefore, if they try to pull this **** with me I will fire back.

Only thing that sucks even more if you are screwed if you want to stick with the Apple Card payments because for whatever reason, Apple INSISTS you must have one of the big 4. Which is BS
Buy the phone from Apple and pick any provider. You don’t need a new phone every year, I go three to four years. Financing through the cell providers is a suckers play.

My plan seems to have survived, but paying more for my wife’s watch and loss of the kickback discount, coupled with the price increase last year, has me looking at moving again. Unlike last year, Verizon appears significantly cheaper.

Might be saying bye to Magenta.

The day the T-Mobile CTO put me in-touch with the executive that was able to tell me and even show me an internal map of when the tower near my house would be upgraded to 4G LTE was the day I decided to be a customer forever. Best international plans too compared to the other two.
Not disagreeing with you, but if you get a notice that your plan changed, double check the international coverage. My plan changed from free text & data in 215 countries to free texting in 215 countries & free high speed data in 11 countries. The rep kept telling me how this was an upgrade because it was high speed data. I didn't get into it except to say that I'm losing free data coverage in 204 countries. Didn't want to berate her over something she had no control over & I'm sure their CSR script makes sure to point out that those 11 countries have high speed data.

Shoot. Sorry to hear that.
It certainly matters what the specifics are that one chooses for their plan & options and other benefits they are getting on other plans/providers.
True, but it's a lot more attractive at the yearly price, especially for the first year at $299/line for a year. That's under $25 per line, so around $100 for the 4 lines, plus $20 for HBO Max is $120 instead of $220 with AT&T.

That's what I keep going back-and-forth with in my head, but it's about $1000 outlay all at once. Might have to do it though...

Update: I see USM has "perks" and with 3+ lines I can get Max for free. This helps...

Make sure that your international coverage hasn't changed. They 'upgraded' ours from free data & texts in 215 countries to free texting in 215 countries & free high speed data in 11 countries.

How recent? I've been watching USM for months, and the cheapest for the Premium has been $25/mo, and that's a limited time promo for the first year. Which plan did you get that was $14/mo for unlimited everything?

Yep, this comes up every time any US carrier plan is mentioned. Every time, some people from Europe (often quite a few) rush to tell us how much better their plans are. Every time. We get it. Your phone plans are better.

I think most Europeans have no concept of just how extremely ginormous (and in some areas, sparse) the US is. It takes an awful lot of towers in relatively unpopulated areas to cover it all, towers which still cost a lot even if they're not getting much traffic. And yeah, the industry needs more regulation and more actual competition. But, we get it: your phone plans are better.
The US Federal government has a long glorious history of helping to subsidize infrastructure, from electrification to highways and other things for the public good. Maybe instead of offering welfare to farmers and having an insanely inflated defense budget, we should start to treat telco connectivity as a utility and help to underwrite some of it. Of course, the telecoms would howl.

All of the 1st party plans are basically a hose job.

Not necessarilly, as they may offer benefits MVNO don't that are important to a customer.

It certainly matters what the specifics are that one chooses for their plan & options and other benefits they are getting on other plans/providers.

Exactly, for me, Tmob inflight wifi and included text/low speed data internationally were what was important. netflix was a nice benefit as well.

I just wish US Mobile and Visibile+ AW plans would work for making calls/texts/data in Canada and Mexico

That would likely force a price increase because they'd have to pay carriers extra for connecting their customers while traveling. The big carriers aren't going to let MVNOs offer that and compete with their higher priced plans without making it more expensive for MVNOs to offer such features.

I'm really not happy with T-Mobile. They were contracted out by my city to lay fiber throughout the county, which is fine. HOWEVER, they didn't tell anyone in advance and they dug up holes in people's property (mine included) to lay these wires, without covering them back up properly or respecting people's homes. I realize it's not entirely their fault, but my neighbors and I are still pretty ... angry.
