How did everyone activate their phones? Just swap the sim or do some fancy sim update?
No resolution yet. Apple said maybe the servers are too busy. Best answer - try later.
So many others playing with their new 6S's...not me.
Yeah, that's not what they told me prior to ordering the device. They did say that they'd unlock it, just have to wait a few days. Will see. If it can't be unlocked I'll have to return it and I hope they won't give me any issues as I opened the box up.

That's no fun! :-( Hope that's all it is though - busy servers.
Would you mind sharing the steps you took that led up to where you are now stuck? You took it out of the box, turned it on, and then... ?
Thanks!
Followed prompts on phone to the point that you can setup as new phone, or restore from iCloud or iTunes. I opted for iTunes thinking it would be faster. iTunes prompted to Update to 9.0.1. iPhone went through the steps, setting up wifi, etc. After wifi screen, "Slide to Update" screen came up...but, unable to swipe. I tried soft reset, hard resets, and reset connected to iTunes. Nothing works. That's no fun! :-( Hope that's all it is though - busy servers.

I had that issue this morning as well along with a ton of other issue. put your iPhone on your computer and restore it to IOS 9.0.1 that will fix your issue. it is a known bug in iOS 9.0.0
Pre-Ordered on the 12th. I'm told it's on back order. WTF?! Are you kidding me? Everyone and there mother is getting there's and I'm like should I have really left my last cell provider?
I called everyday this past week after I was uncertain about the order tracking not updating under my account online. They can't tell me anything. It's always like "The system this" "the system" that like everything is out of their hands. It's reall irritating. I pre ordered 2 phones, but since they aren't coming anyway I'm thinking of jumping ship while I still can. I really just don't understand how you can mess this up.
That's where it stops for me. I get an unknown error on iTunes when I try to update. Thanks Nate. So should that be done before you even attempt to restore your data from a backup in iTunes? I'm confused on what order I should do things in.

I was (or, still am I suppose) on Cricket. Thought I was just gonna be able to cut down my micro-SIM and be able to fit it in but, nope! And according to Cricket, my unlocked (T-Mobile) iPhone isn't compatible with their network so I can't order their universal SIM… it does come with a T-Mobile SIM, but no activation code or the like, so I just spent the $1.06 on ordering a new SIM kit from them and then I'll use their 30 dollar prepaid plan — don't feel like spending an hour or so dealing with customer service. How did everyone activate their phones? Just swap the sim or do some fancy sim update?
Thanks for the details! Sounds logical and should have been seamless. SMH
Wish I knew of something that would help you! :-(
Nate, are these the same steps you took that caused you issues as well?
Here's a list of Apple's Direct Downloads for 9.01. I was able to download here and then you can use iTunes to update from the local file. That's where it stops for me. I get an unknown error on iTunes when I try to update. Apple thinks it maybe be a busy server issue.
