Awesome, thank you.

A thought -

Since TMO is a no contract service, couldn't you sign up for the $10/month plan to get the iPad with their deal, then simply cancel the SERVICE contract after 1 month and just continue to get the free 200mb offer? Since they offer the free data for the life of the tablet (in their words)

Continuing you PAYMENT plan obviously.

Then you could get the iPad for $0/99/199, pay the small monthly amount, pay the $10-15 first month, then after that have only your small monthly payment for the device itself.

You can but what's the point? I believe you can still get the 0% EIP even with the free 200MB. So far, I haven't read anywhere that a paid plan is mandatory to take advantage of the EIP.

This confirms what I'd imagined; there is little chance t-mobile is going to have the iPad Air on launch day.

:confused:How does this page (or any T-Mobile info) confirm no iPads on launch day:confused: While this may be true and I even tend to doubt they will be I don't see what you are reading. Please point to this confirmation you see.

Call your local t mobile store. Mine said yes they will have iPad air nov 1 and all they do is a credit check

How? I've checked AT&T and Verizon's website, too and they have similar sign up pages (as they've done for previous years). Both Verizon and T-Mobile don't post a specific release date but that's not to say they won't get it upon release.

Why would you need to "Sign up now and we'll send you an email as soon as iPad Air is available." if they're getting it on the day we all know it releases? That makes no sense.

It's smart marketing. Person A reads article about T-Mobile offering a deal. They can look, navigate away and forget about it. Or you can have a way to follow up with them to remind them about your deal. Follow up is critical to that kind of marketing. And even if you don't buy in right away, you are now on their e-mail list.

....so if they offered no sign up to be notified page this would indicate they would have them on launch day? Im not understanding the logic.

I guess AT&T and Verizon are not getting them either.

From T-Mobile's Web Site, listed if you go and try to buy an Android tablet:

Can I get $0 down and free data without being on a Simple Choice monthly plan?
Yes. Of course, all tablet customers are entitled to the 200MB/month free data for life offer. And if you’re a well-qualified voice customer on a Simple Choice plan you’re also eligible to get $0 down (EIP) even if you’re just on the free data. If you don’t have a Simple Choice voice plan you will need to be on a Simple Choice Mobile Internet plan or an On Demand Data plan for your tablet, in order to get $0 down.

Emphasis mine.

If you look around the TMO web site for what an "on demand data plan" means, it basically just means that you have an account set up with them where you can order on-demand data passes. Does that make sense? Does anybody know someone with the Android tablet who has done this?

Could I simply just get the ipad from TMO, then when I run out of the free data just use my iphone on ATT as a mobile hot spot to connect the TMO ipad to wifi? Not really feeling the additional $10 per month with ATT...

Assuming tethering is included in your AT&T plan, yes you can. For me, getting cellular access directly on the iPad is a matter of convenience.

Don't forget. It also says that a prepaid account works which makes it to be about 3 bucks extra a month

sheesh, you are wrong, there is no $130 interest, that is the price for the iPad Air w/ cellular data capabilities! No wonder you think you are being conned everyday, go back to elementary school :p

The OP did not clarify that this was for the cellular model but this was discussed earlier in the thread.

LOLWUT?

They had this for the 5C and 5S, and they received both of those on time.

They've also done this for a number of other highly anticipated devices. Granted, the email usually comes after they've already released, but this isn't anything new. And it definitely doesn't indicate that they won't have launch day product.

Why would T-Mobile or any carrier sell a non-cellular model ;) And in this case/thread/discussion T-Mobile is giving 200mb free, so how would the person get that data on a non cell model...
You were wrong and that is all :)

can i purchase the tmobile ipad air from the apple store for $630 instead of paying monthly payments? how exactly would this work? will the ipad automatically come with the tmobile SIM card? do i have to sign up separately somewhere on the tmobile site for the 200mb data plan? i am currently an ATT customer.

Yes, the T-Mobile iPad from the Apple Stores already comes with a T-Mobile SIM. You likely just need to go to Settings > Cellular Data to create an account and sign up for the free 200 MB data.

I am also planning the same way. Do online order and pick up instore on Nov 1st

Is TMO offering a 14-day return policy? Just in case I want to return the Air and wait for the mini.

----------

Ok, just read this article, it's from the WSJ

"In order to qualify for the financing plans, customers need to have a paying relationship with T-Mobile. That means they can’t just finance the tablet and only use the free 200 megabytes of data."

http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2013/10/23/t-mobile-offers-free-data-to-hook-ipad-users/

Is there anyone on here that works for TMO that can confirm whether or not you need to pay more than just the cost of the EIP to qualify for the financing? I know their website says other things, but this is the second article that has said, basically, you can't just walk into TMO get an ipad Air and only pay the $26 per month.

And this is the WSJ saying it, not some wordpress website like the last article.

Except T-Mobile's official website appears to contradict what they're saying. Oh well, we'll likely know come Friday from folks ordering the iPad Air on T-Mo's website.

Confused more now...

I went to my local T-Mobile store in DC yesterday; and was made even more confused by the sales rep. She said that I could get the free 200 mb (which she assured me was barely anything and therefore I should opt for a higher plan). But then she said you had to have a plan, and the cheapest one was 500mb (at $10 a month). I then said, well, that wouldn't be free and she agreed.

So essentially, she didn't really know what was going on. I was hoping to go to the store and feel confident leaving that this was my plan for Friday, but now I am unsure.

She also wasn't certain they would have the Air's in stock on Friday--this is a large store in the middle of Washington, DC, so I might need to just chalk this up to the rep not really knowing much.

I am really enticed by this T-Mo offer but am weary to put my trust here where there is a lot of uncertainty.

If you don't want to wait for delivery, just try ordering online Friday night to see if they'll allow EIP with the 200MB plan but don't finalize the purchase.
