Instead of betting on their data allowance as being rubbish, please go to their website and do a little research.

I currently pay $60 per month and get unlimited calling, texting and data in Canada, the US and Mexico. Speeds prior to 3GB are LTE; speeds after 3GB are much slower. Quite honestly I never make it to 3GB given WiFi. On top of that I use my phone as a Hotspot for my iPad.

Some people complain about coverage. I haven't had any issues in large metropolitan areas. I've had a few in rural areas. T-mobile is kicking butt here in the US.
A little known fact is that calling to other countries can be added for a low fee as well. My mom calls Hungary for $15 as much as she wants. That is cheaper than Skype, which was the best value before AND she can call mobile lines (with Skype it was landlines for one price and an additional price for mobile).

I'm hoping they just start slowly adding more countries into their base rate. Not that we have anyone to call elsewhere, but it's a nice value added deal to voice.

bingo. An iPhone 6 in good conditions is worth more than 18 * $15 = $270, especially if you have anything other than the base model.
All these plans will continue to cause the resale values to go down - Gazelle is paying $310 and this is for a 128GB phone - expect this go down next week.

So T-Mobile looks very competitive.

No wonder the iPhone 6S T-Mobile pre-orders are up 30% over pre-orders of the 6. This is an incredible deal for the average mobile phone customer, especially considering their attractive service plans.

T-Mobile should focus on more towers / spectrum. They do have good service plans but, the service plans are worthless when you don't have connectivity.

No catch. The consumer is the benefit of T-mobile's business strategy to aggressively grow and take market share from competitors.

Then they should spend their money on new towers / spectrum.

I was reading that people with grandfathered
Plans were able to get unlimited talk added for free. There is a large thread in it. You might take a look and give them a call, you never know!

We honestly bailed because we were on att for ages, had unlimited, went with other plans since we needed minutes, now they're offering these services because of the FCC suit and not letting those that they "muscled" out back on.

No thank you. I was loyal, he'll I even defended them, but I don't need cell service enough to be taken advantage of and then told "too bad". I'd be lying if I didn't hit the occasional dead spot and see lte drop to 4g far more often than I did with ATT, but we are also paying $80 less per month, we have 250% of the data (plus unlimited music streaming), true rollover, etc.

I also see that ATT doesn't even allow WiFi calling like T-Mobile. I honestly can't find a really good reason to stick with ATT anymore.

It was supposed to go love with iOS 9. Then for some reason it didn't. I'm pretty sure it's coming. Just not sure when.

It has saved me a few times in target in town since it's just a dead zone for all signal. I could previously send iMessages and that was it.

I think this seems like a good deal, only if you sell your old phone on your own. My question is, what happens if you lose your phone or break it? What then? Also, with this particular jump plan, does it have the insurance plan or is that separate and would either need to buy Tmobiles or Apples?

I may bite....

I'm going to try this i think, my contract just ended with verizon. So for some i see how selling your iPhone 6 would be a better deal, but for me, i have a 32gb 5S, this would be a better/about the same deal for me correct?

Also do you just get the discount on the monthly cost of phone, or do they give you money for the actual trade in value of the phone as well?

Their service and Retail presence are both spotty. These programs require you go to a T-Mobile store to buy the phone and back to return the phone so they can look at it in person and then accept all of the trade / return business right then and there.

The nearest store to me is a 2 hour drive so I have to factor in over a tank of gas in my purchase. In addition to that, the service in my town is fine T-Mobile coverage. all surrounding areas in a 60 mile radius are "partner coverage" aka Roaming on 2G/3G. So if I drive down to boston, half of my trip will be roaming and if I drive up to Quebec, 90% of my trip will be roaming..then I hit Canada and have international duty to pay.

This is a fantastic deal if you live in a city. For the rest of us, T-Mobile has a long way to go. I seriously considered this for the savings but it would be like only having a phone when I'm at work or home. Not useful as I already have an iPad w/ Verizon.
Your location would make T-Mobile a less than ideal mobile operator for you but for many (including myself), the service is fine. I haven't ever run into roaming in the U.S. (altho I am in Europe half the time using the slow but free data roaming) so it works in my case. YMMV.

I see it as only giving you $270.00 for your phone.
If you don't trade a 6s in its
$19.00 x 18=342
with a trade $4/month*18 months: -$72
so 342-72=270.00
and that is not a good deal to me

I see. I think you're right. As compared to their other promotion, it's not as good.

He's not in the US... it doesn't matter to him either way.

Looks like they're offering Watch on installment plans as well. Only a matter of time before Apple goes the installment route for iPad, Watch and Macs too.

You can trade any phone, but just like the article says, different phones appraise for different values. Don't expect to get in at $5 per month on a very old device.
How do they determine the value of the phone we are trading in. I have a Nokia Windows Mobile phone that is definitely not worth $90 ($5 * 18). So, if they can give me a $5 discount per month, i will gladly bite.

When we traded in our ATT iohone 6 devices they entered some information and the system automatically gave them an appraisal value. Since they were also paying off ETFs, anything above that (up to $650 per device) is being sent to us in a prepaid Visa card.

I've been told I was incorrect on how they are doing trade in credits by another user here. I can only tell you what they told me. We also get the trade in credit for the phones we traded in on top of etf being paid. This credit was supposed to take 1-2 cycles to make it onto our plan (and that is exactly what happened); we were able, once the credit was visible, to get them to retroactively give us said credits. So they just slapped another $21 credit into our total bill since we paid that much "out of pocket" on our first.

Adding new customers brings in more revenue that can then be spent towards adding more towers / spectrum.

If you read their quarterly/yearly financial results (or follow their CEO on Twitter, he's kind of fun), they're hardly just twiddling their thumbs when it comes to increasing their network size/quality.

This one seems very up to date. Just last week there was none by me. This week it shows live next town over.

That's the one I was looking at. The New Engkand area still had the green circle indicating that there is a TV band in the process of relocation. From what I have read that relocation happened this summer (there is very little info I could find) so I assumed the map was out of date.

I'm crossing my fingers the Reddit I looked at is accurate (along with the map). If that's the case literally everywhere we go and travel is blanketed.

I guess we will see come Friday lol.

Lets say I want to buy an iPhone 6s Plus w/64 GB and a 5GB of data a month.

if I use this plan I will pay

phone
-------
$99.99 Up front
$23 x 18 months =
$210 at end of 18 months to buy phone outright
+ whatever tax is charged on phone
= $723.99 + tax

Phone service
---------------
Unlimited Talk, Text and 5GB of LTE data a month
$70 x 18 = $1,260

Total cost for 18 months
$1,983.99 plus tax on phone and misc taxes on phone service

========================================

on T-Mobile prepaid plan (available only at WalMart or online)

buy phone outright upfront
$849 plus whatever tax is charged on phone

$30 plan - 100 minutes of talk, unlimited texts, first 5GB at up to 4G speeds; speeds reduced thereafter
$30 x 18 = $540 (misc taxes rolled into $30 cost)

Total cost for 18 months
$1389 plus tax on phone only

This is a savings of $595 over 18 months. If you can live with 100 minutes a month of talk, this seems like a much better deal.

What am I missing here?

Edited to correct the payoff at the end of 18 months.

You must speak to a sales rep. No viewing the facts on your own online.
ahhh... Thank you for the clarification. It was a few hours ago, but I think that's why I put the "push, pull, or drag your phone in" aspect of this.

I remember my grandfather saying, "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch", so when one is offered, the details matter.

Same here. I switched last December. I seriously didn't want to go through the hassle of switching, but AT&T forced me to. In middle school, it's much easier for the kids to have a smartphone. They use Google docs, classroom, etc. So I gave my son my decommissioned iPhone to use. He was using a dumb flip phone, I had data block put on it, and pop the sim into the old iPhone. A month later they slapped a data plan on it for my convenience. Yes I fully knew their policy. I moved to TMo a month later, after 10yrs with them.

They did me a huge favor forcing me to move. I combined my sister's two phone from Verizon. Our combined ATT and Verizon were $390. On TMo it's $210. Now everyone has a smartphone. My wife 5GB/mo on her iPad. Kids stream Spotify as much as they want and not worry about data. I do have to remind them occasionally when we drive through a no service area that they should be thankful - they'd still be using flip phones if it weren't for TMo.

Though I am certain that AT&T will have a reply to these leasing programs by the time the iPhone 7 ships, I am uncertain as to what form it will take.

Whats the data allowances? Bet they are Rubbish!!

Unlimited LTE, Unlimited Talk, and Text (including texting and calling, pretty much, all over the world) 7 GB monthly Tethering included, WiFi Calling... Traded in my Note 4, so my iPhone 6S+ 128GB device will be about $13 a month, with $0 down.
