macos updates are very slow to release lately. No new public release since Monterey. Not a single quick fix for over a month and with Christmas holidays coming, we can only hope that the final .1 update will fix this otherwise we’ll need to wait next year.

its not a good idea to release a major OS so late in the year. At least when it used to release in September they had more time to fix bugs before the big holiday seasons.

I downgraded to 12.1 beta 1. So much better than 12.1 beta 3 - no trackpad issues at all for me on 12.1 beta 1; I will stay on beta one until the final release of 12.1 is out to the public.

So to summarize, the bug was introduced in 12.0.x beta and arrived to the public version, then fixed on 12.1 beta1 and reappeared on 12.1 beta3 o_O

I'm really worried the next public release will not contain the fix ??????

Tap to click is 100% reliable now like in Big Sur. All Icons marked without any second attempts.

However, the swipe gestures they broke in beta 3 still are kind of unreliable.

I use 4-finger swipe to go between screens/desktops, and the issues with this appear to be fixed in this latest beta.
EDIT: Much better, not 100% fixed. It sometimes still doesn't swipe properly.

(And another confirmation that tap-to-click is fixed.)

i wish I hadn't upgraded from big sur. I did the job on my own without any problems.

Is multi gestures with trackpad also fixed? like zoom-in in Safari pages? Its not always working on 12.0.1.

I just received an email from Apple in response to a bug report I submitted weeks ago. I'm attaching a screenshot from a portion of the email which identifies a Build Number that Apple claims has fixed the issue.

Same. Thanks to everyone for filing feedbacks and bringing this issue to the front!!

I saw the update and got excited. Just updated my 14" MBP and the tap to click issue is STILL not fixed for me. `cmd + tap` is still terrible even after updating to the latest 12.1 beta 4. Easiest way for me to check is to go to YouTube and `cmd + tap` to open a bunch of videos in the background. It is consistently taking 3 taps for it to register. Holy **** I'm tired of Apple's bs now.

Are you running that exact build number?

I was wondering if I was the only one to get this email... but of course I wasn't... but the more of us that do, the more they prioritize the issue.

And now we hope Apple doesn't reintroduce the bug in Beta 5 ?
I'm joking obviously

Sadly the latest build didn't solve the issue for my MacBook pro 14.
The tap won't register and i can still reproduce this 100% of the time.
(hold cmd, do not move cursor, tap within 2 seconds)
