Anyone know if target will hold it if I call in the morning?

Found 1 near me with limited availability and one that says available.

They're not too far from me but the opposite direction i head for work, don't really want to make the trip if I don't know for certain that I will be landing one.

Got it.

Went to the Antioch Ca Target and was able to get the last two 32GB WiFi Black ipads using this thread. I was told by two electronic clerks that they did not have them, sold earlier, not willing to check the stock room. Went to customer service rep, DCPI code showed one in stock, another rep said the database may not be updated, probably not there. I asked them to have someone check. Five minutes later the stock room guy had found two. Thanks to this forum. The Target inventory seems to be fairly accurate. Good luck to everyone.

Two local targets showed "limited availability" for a 32gb white wifi only. I asked the salesman at the electronics section, and he claimed that they were out of stock. I tried to to explain to him that they probably have some in the back, he got all annoyed at me and refused to check. Same thing happened at the second target. Im asking nicely, but they dont seem to believe me. How did you guys get them to check the back?

All I can say is don't count on it. Tonight I was able to get an electronics employee to hold one specifically telling me i had 30 minutes to get here and he took down my name. I told him I would be driving from across town and for sure that he would hold it for 30 minutes starting right now. He said yes and I left. I arrived about 20 minutes later, walking in and seeing someone else checking out for the 1 ipad that "supposedly was held for me." I was ****** pissed!

for those who showed up this morning at the pasadena east location only to be turned away with $3 coupons saying that the stock lists were not accurate from the night before, they finally found the stock. i heard that the last ipad 2 sold at 11:30 or so. apparently this has happened two days in a row at this particular location.

Python script

I was able to pick up an iPad 2 thanks to the helpful information in this thread. To aid my search, I created a script with python to help me by checking the Target stock page, and emailing me if there was a local availability.

As it is set right now, this script requires Gmail.

To use the script,
  1. Unzip CheckTargetStock.zip
  2. Edit CheckTargetStock.py and fill in your email info, dcpi, and zipcode
  3. Save CheckTargetStock.py
  4. Launch Terminal.app
  5. Navigate to the directory that contains CheckTargetStock.py
  6. Run 'python CheckTargetStock.py'

I scheduled the command 'python CheckTargetStock.py' to run every 20 minutes using Lingon.

I asked the Target employees to check and explained this forum to them and that ipads are showing up approx 50 to 75 percent of the time. I am a customer and they should try to please there customers.

I found one!

Thanks to this forum I found my white 64 gb wifi iPad at the Grossmont Target store in La Mesa, CA today. Like others I called the store and they told me they had none. I went down to the store and looked it up in their system and it was there! The clerk was shocked as he had been telling people all day they had none in stock. Thanks to everyone posting to the forum! I was losing hope that I'd get one before April. I typed this on my new iPad and I love it!

I actually bought one this morning and, on my way there, I called to verify that they actually had them in stock (I'd already checked the inventory site as well) and the guy I spoke with was nice enough to take my name and promised to set it aside after I expressed my concern about someone buying it before my arrival. He assured me he'd hold on to it, and he did. Whether he did it to follow through on his word, or because nobody showed up wanting to buy one, I don't know. But he did remember my name when I approached the [electronics] counter inquiring about an iPad.

actually i went back around 12:30 and talked to guest services hoping that they would have stumbled across the inventory that they told us didn't exist. Someone actually returned an iPad an hour earlier but when they called the electronic dept they said it had already been sold. That must have been the one sold at 11:30. i seriously think the inventory is there; just misplaced or secretly hidden

Ok guys I'm at work and talked to my boss. He has no clue when we're getting more since they don't come in our trucks. He said that fed ex or ups deliver them during the day and they scan them in after that. My guess is that the deliveries are late afternoon and they don't bother scanning them in until overnight arrives or the next morning. I'll keep my ear to the ground and pass on additional info if and when I hear it.

What does it mean if the store and stock info turns red?
One of the stores shows out of stock but the text is in red.
It was in black last night when I checked.

The Southington, CT store has been showing "In Stock" for the 16GB AT&T model for the last few days, but I went there two days ago and they said it must be a mistake. They confirmed that their inventory claimed to have two, but it also indicated that they arrived on the 12th, and it would have been unlikely that they would still be in stock. Several people searched in back but weren't able to find them. Finally, a manager (?) stated that the inventory system sometimes takes a couple of days to clear (which certainly seemed like a fabrication). Two more days later and it still shows "In Stock". My guess is one of the following:
- They're there somewhere and got lost in back.
- An employee stole them
- They erroneously sold them to someone as a different model (e.g., 16GB WiFi or 16GB Verizon). That should have generated a negative number in their inventory for that other model, but since I don't work there I couldn't confirm that.

Hey dcmetro, if you want to join me I'm at the Forestville target where it says they are available this morning...

Would you mind explaining how to navigate in Terminal? Sorry, it's not something I ever do.

Also, how do you you set up the Ligon?

Thanks so much!

If you leave CheckTargetStock.py on your Desktop, just type: 'cd ~/Desktop' in Terminal.app to navigate to the Desktop directory.

As for Lingon,
  1. Click 'New'
  2. Select 'My Agents'
  3. Give it a name like: 'com.YourNameNoSpaces.CheckTargetStock'
  4. In the 'What' box, put: 'python /Users/YourUsername/Desktop/CheckTargetStock.py'
  5. Choose your interval (I used Run every 20 minutes)
  6. Click 'Save'
  7. Log out of your account and then back in

DC/MD/VA people: there are a couple white 3G ones (16 and 64) here at the Forestville target, out in the display cases too! Get em while they're hot!

Has there been any consensus about what the red highlights on some of the stores mean? All that are red today, were black yesterday.

Thanks gankit. Wish I could. Forestville is over 40 miles from my home and I have 2 go to work. Meeting at 10. Enjoy bud!

All Targets within 25 miles of 48197 are Out of Stock except Livonia.
Canton says they have a 32GB Black In Stock, but that was there yesterday as well and they do not have any. I went there, checked the DCPI, nothing.

Someone is probably holding on to it for themselves.

Saw that too about Southington, but it's over an hour away and after 3 days I figured it had to be a glitch in the matrix. :D

Weird question. Has anybody found that the target iphone app works better or worse? I've been using the target stock checker for the last few days to find a 64GB Black ATT. Not once have any stores shown any availability. Just now, on a whim, I downloaded the app and was able to look up that model. And one store shows availability.

Guess I'm gonna go check it out. I'm on the west coast, so it's still pretty early.
