Saw that too about Southington, but it's over an hour away and after 3 days I figured it had to be a glitch in the matrix. :D

I was there last night - they looked confused, checked the store room, and then said the iPads must have been sold before an employee marked them as "received", as they had no location value set.

Huge thanks to this thread.

I used the links to check availability before bed and then this morning. The target in Gaithersburg, MD came up showing limited availability this morning so I got there at 7:15. It wasn't a big deal getting there because its right next to my work.

When I arrived there was one person there talking to an overnight stock person out front. He informed both of us none came in overnight and the other guy left. I stayed knowing that the inventory site showed limited availability. At about 15 minutes to opening a team member came to the doors and asked what I was waiting for. I told him the iPad 2 and he told me that none came in overnight. I explained to him that the stock online shows limited availability which means one. I told him I had the inventory number so he got out his scan gun and punched it in. He said that it showed 1 but that no one was aware where it was so he told me that he'd go look and come back to me. About 2 minutes before the store opened he came back and said it had been located, that one did come in overnight but no one knew and that when the doors open he'd walk me up to electronics and check me out. At that point one other person had shown up hoping to get an iPad 2 but that was all they truly only had that one.

I ended up walking out of the store at 8:05am with a 64gb White iPad WIFI.

Target in my area don't have ****!
Nothing shows up available online.
Does that mean it's not in the system yet?

Weird question. Has anybody found that the target iphone app works better or worse? I've been using the target stock checker for the last few days to find a 64GB Black ATT. Not once have any stores shown any availability. Just now, on a whim, I downloaded the app and was able to look up that model. And one store shows availability.

Guess I'm gonna go check it out. I'm on the west coast, so it's still pretty early.

And never mind. I'm just an idiot. App was showing iPad 1. It is very early, and I am going back to boring, ipadless sleep.

Woke up this AM (Friday) and saw limited availability at a Target in Anderson, SC. They had the 32GB one I wanted--and ended up getting!!

They weren't kidding about limited availability as they had the one I got as well as a 64GB white wi-fi one. That was it.

This works! Huge props and thank you to the OP! :)

Saw some "available" at several of the Fort Myers, FL stores. Walked in right at 8am and picked up 2 black 32gb wifi iPads!

I am sure there was a line of 30 people deep waiting outside of the Apple store down the street too!

Thanks gankit. Wish I could. Forestville is over 40 miles from my home and I have 2 go to work. Meeting at 10. Enjoy bud!

QUESTION: Why Did "dcmetro" go out of his way to change "gankit's' post to confuse readers to believe there were many ipad 2 available, when gankit only said two were available???

I second this... Have you tried Target method yet? I'm in Fort Myers and am I am going to try this tomorrow morning, I missed getting one at the Coconut Point Apple store this morning by 1 person.

I was shopping at Target last night (3/16) and stopped by the electronics department and the guy said they have not had any new shipments since last Friday? Am I SOL?

Oviedo Target changed from out of stock to available over night. Got there at opening this morning. Clerk and manager claimed they didn't have them. Code reader on end cap showed in stockroom. Both still claimed they didn't have them. Got home an hour later and still shows in stock.

Wrong analysis detective. Chill out. Don't know this gankit.

Anyways, missed out in Sterling, VA store by a minute. Guy in front bought the only two in stock here. :( Resisted the urge to talk to the guy sitting with coffee and not even caring about his iPads. Looks like he is just gonna sell them.

Target in Linden NJ had limited 32gb in stock. Dashed over to a line, they said the line started at 6am. Got in, no iPads in stock. Store employee said you can't trust the online inventory, sometimes they don't arrive for 2-3 days after they show in stock.

Those links worked like a champ! I saw where my local target had limited avail for a 64 gb white wifi. Went there about 840am. They said "no, we don't have any". I mentioned their online inventory said there were. So it took 15 to find the inventory number then he said "huh....". Went in the back, came back out a few minutes later with one. I asked how many he had, he said "that one, that's it". Got it!

This has not been the experience of the posters of this thread.
The inventory is scanned into the store when it is off loaded physically into the store. That is what changes the status from not in stock to either available- two or more/ limited availability=one. We have consistently proven this in the past four days.
Don't believe what the people in the store tell you. Most of them are friendly and courteous but clueless.

Wow now the whole world knows about the target tracker. This thing is suppose to be top secret and only for reseller/underground network to know about.

First, check the display case. It is a low display case in an aisle near the end of the aisle. These units have a place (usually top row) along with the ipad 1s (bottom row). Since these units are stocked in and are put on the shelves by the night crew (in most cases) the associates on the floor are not even aware that they are there. Then beg the associate in your most friendly pleading voice to check the stockroom (in case the night crew got lazy or tired and didn't bother to stock the shelves). The inventory clears itself via the computer system every night so whatever you see in the early morning in the online inventory status is usually accurate.

Don't give up.

you need to push for them to go look in back. It if it shows it is there and no one has bought it yet, it is there. They told me this morning they got none overnight but I asked them politely to please look and just like the inventory said, they had one.

I wish I could say I thought it was an honest mistake but judging by the attitude of both associates I would guess that they hoarded them for themselves. Or worse for Ebay. Neither were novice employees and I did check the display BTW, they do have 2 white 64 gig models.

The last ones we want to see at the Target stores are the resellers. Let them go stand in line for nothing at the apple stores. The fact that Target has an inventory tracker has made a huge difference to those of us who stood in line at the apple stores for hours on many days and came away empty handed. Once you understand how to use the tracker it increases your chances ten fold. It is certainly better than standing in line for hours at apple only to be told "Nope, not today". I do not want to give apple the benefit of the free advertising ("buzz") by standing in line anymore. I got my ipad2 on Wednesday morning at Target by going there at 7:30AM and waiting outside at 7:55AM till opening. First one in the door and first one with the ipad2 that I wanted. And there were no other ipad2 buyers around.

Got one

I have been checking in South Florida the past few days, and have only seen a few in inventory and none showed up new yesterday morning (wifi only models). This morning 7 64GB white wifi models showed up (1 at each store) all over South Florida. I dropped off my son at daycare at the usual time and headed over to the Hialeah store which was the closest and sure enough, one 64GB white wifi Ipad 2 was sitting in the case which i promptly bought. The electronics manager said it was the only one the got last night, and the first one since their launch allocation.

I don't really want the 64GB white, but i am tired of waiting and seeing 50 people line up at the Lincoln road apple store at 4am made me decide to just buy this one and call it a day.

Thanks for all the help from the many posters on this board.

That is all you can do. Sorry to hear. But keep trying.
I do think that there are some associates who snare the units for friends or who have successfully been bribed.

Glad to hear that you found one. Don't worry about the 64gb. That's plenty of room for anything you may want to load (photos, video, movies, etc.)
It is much better than standing in line.

I've been checking the supply of every white version for about 4 days now, numerous times a day and have yet to see any of the ten or so stores that show up have ANY stock at all.

Every store, every model, every time, OUT OF STOCK.

The couple stores in my area also only received one 64gb white WIFI and they said that was their first shipment since launch.

Luckily that's the one I have been looking for.

Looks like we'll have to do the same grind tmrw morning! Since no knows when stores get the shipment. Anyways, so what are most folks buying?32 or 64? I was bent on 64 earlier but now think 32 is a better choice since this is not really a music player. So isn't 32 enough for apps, podcats and couple of movies? iPad really cannot be used as a file storage since apple does not allow that.
