I check the Target links several times a day. There hasn't been any changing to "available" for a couple days now. I am in Colorado.

So I show up to target at 8am. When I get inside I see one guy harassing the employee to go find the ipads in the back. Eventually its like 6-8 people standing around in electronics. They find 2 and sell both to 1 dude, while 8 other people are standing around.

I am going to try to hit Holyoke and Hadley Targets first thing Sat am and hope for the best. The Apple store is nice, but no way...
FWIW, that unit in the Holyoke store is now gone, according to the inventory checker. It sounds like the Target stores are getting (and logging) new inventory in the overnight hours, so if you check the inventory first thing in the morning (before they open), you should have a pretty good idea as to whether they have what you want in stock. Then it's just a matter of getting there before someone else does. The Targets are clearly not interested/equipped in dealing with the iPad demand, so don't expect them to have an employee outside giving tickets to whoever was first in line. The winner will be whoever can run to the electronics department first. That said, as of this morning, the Target inventory clearly didn't seem to be on the radar of the average iPad shopper in the CT area, based on my experience of "competing" with just one other person at the Enfield store when they opened at 9am (we each got one), and then getting a 2nd unit in Holyoke at 9:40am (with a long line of unaware people stationed at the Apple store a few steps away). I expect that the awareness of Target's online inventory checker will expand within the next several days, though.

The awareness has been expanding since Tuesday. With so many leaving apple lines after many hours with empty hands they have looked for other sources. Even the mules must be reading this thread as they are now showing up in lines in front of Target stores. The winners seem to be the fastest runners as the electronics depts are in the back corner or side corner of the store. Too bad it has come to this.

has anyhone gone to the Pasadena East Target on Colorado? seems like they always have a few in stock according to the inventory locator. i don't know if legit or not? trying to call them but have no success getting through.

I'm beginning to think that there's more flowing throughout the supply channel than we may realize.

After my experience of yesterday (arriving upon the stores opening & getting three) I'm going to stop in again this morning as I'm driving to work. Since it's right off the freeway along my normal route, it only takes a short while to check.

It would be really hilarious if I got lucky two days in a row. I've already got several buyers lined up.

These Apple product launches are very interesting now that Apple uses regular retailers.

One also benefits from the disorganized stores like Best Buy. I was there just before closing last night, asked if they had any cancellations, and bought two more.

So, I've gone from nothing & seemingly no chance - to five iPad 2 models in less than 48 hrs. If I get two more this morning, I'm up to seven with next to no effort.

That's just crazy, and profitable since I've already made my money back which paid for ones I kept plus additional profit above what I paid for the others.

I can't believe how much people have paid me. It's insane. Thanks Apple!

Good for you.

Seriously, why do you keep coming on here and flaunting what you're doing? I could give a rat's a$$ that you are buying and reselling...it's free enterprise, but know that there are literally thousands of people who are looking for "one" for personal use and don't need this crap thrown in their faces day after day.

+1, can't stand the fact that people can be so greedy and selfish. This is one reason why it's difficult as it is to find one, because of people like you who buys in surplus for self-profit while other people out there are having difficult times just getting their hands on one.

Target inventory now proven accurate twice. Located a 16GB black AT&T when it said limited quantities. Best Buy said only in store after changing from unavailable and they didn't have any. They did say that even though they've taken reservations, if someone comes to the store looking for a specific model they would probably give it to them first come first served.

It's called competition. Welcome to the real world. Success comes from working harder and getting up earlier than your competition. Success comes from wanting it bad enough to work for it.

The imaginary world where everyone sits around singing kumbaya and sharing equally doesn't exist.

Oh, by the way -- nobody would be buying in surplus if there weren't people willing to pay over retail. Without grey-market demand, nobody would bother to supply that grey-market. Want to complain about human nature? Complain about those who are creating the demand, not those catering to that demand.

Target should play Chariots of fire during the first 5 minutes of opening. I got there 5 minutes early. At least 7 people waiting already. The inventory check indicated there should have been at least 6-7 ipads so I stuck around. As soon as the doors opened everyone started scurrying up the escalator. I ran up the stairs. Pretty much everyone started running then LOL. I got to the Electronics dept second behind a guy who was 6' 5 and fit so I figure I'm in luck. They only had 2. Inventory check was very off. At least two of the models said they had at least two in stock. Older guy came up afterwards saying he'd been there since 6:40, let him have it...as did the tall guy to his credit. I'm trying to get a WIFI model since I snagged a VZN one a few days back (prefer intl sim).

Checked the stock terminal in store and none of the other item numbers came up as being in stock. This was the Northridge Target on Balboa. I'm going to check to see if any of the inventory that I saw sell, every goes off on the website inventory checker.

Thanks to the OP, this thread is helpful but the inventory check is not always accurate, this one was very off.

Don't forget to pay your taxes on that extra income too.

Lol stop letting him troll you, target only has a one p customer limit (besides the rare stories mentioned here ) and they definitely aren't letting someone buy five in one blow, stop being ignorant and letting him get to you lol. Trust me, I've got buying these things down to an art, good rapport with the local target people, and have been into flipping / reselling electronics for years, he's just ****ing with you because he's a loser.

You'll get your iPad 2 , trust me, they are out there.

For some of you however, I would consider craigslist in a week or so if you haven't gotten it yet, by that time prices will only be about a hundred dollars or so above average price, and with all the gas you all have spent by now it may end up being worth it.

Found 16GB White iPad 2 at Target in Buffalo

I just want to give thanks to the contributors for the Target inventory links. I used the Firefox iMacros script and tied it to my zip code. I embedded it so when ran it would open a tab for each iPad model. This way I could just match the tab to which model could possibly show available.

I ran this morning with no luck around 8am, but ran it again around 9:30am and stock showed "Available" for my iPad 2. I called to confirm and the guy told me they had 4 16GB White iPad 2's in stock. I asked if he could reserve, but he said he couldn't do that. Finally, I just drove down there and was surprised there were still 3 available at 10:30am when I purchased. While I was checking out another person showed up and bought one, leaving one there. As of 12pm EST, the inventory is now "Out of Stock". Note: I asked if you could purchase two and he told me store policy that they could only sell one per person, FWIW. Also, he said this was their first shipment of iPads since the main launch last Friday.

On another note, I noticed B&H had stock of White Verizon iPads (16GB and 64GB) just before 12pm EST, not sure if anyone is looking for them. Apparently, you have to call them and have a Sales rep put the order in.

Thanks for the help and Good Luck!

Yikes, yet another failure. Arrived early to find three kind gentlemen ahead of me. When the store opened we treked back to electronics to be told they got none in today. Two of them left, and I headed to find a different worker to do a stockroom check. The worker walked over to electronics where I was then told again they had none. One of the four kind gentlemen stuck around as well and we asked about the "Limited Availability" and were repeatedly told they had none. When the lady checked in the stock room she had a look like she was unsure so I tracked down the store manager and asked him to do a check.

The manager checks and sees there is one but says it must be a ghost item because they have none. He says it is missing or may have been stolen. The hottest item around right now "may have been stolen?" Highly unlikely. Over the next five minutes the manager and I go back and forth, him mentioning his 17 years of service, me mentioning the 17+ stories here of Targets being sold out only to be surprised by iPads sitting in the back. After asking him if he really wasn't going to help someone trying to purchase a $700 item that they supposedly had in stock, he agreed to check, and as I suspected, found nothing. The manager had a really pissy attitude, and would turn everything I said around. Fortunately for me I used to work for Target and was able to use that to my advantage eventually get him to look. My gf called in when we left, and now the electronics clerk is stating the iPad is "missing" and they they "never received it from the truck;" aren't iPads delivered seperately from the trucks? Seems fishy, perhaps on hold for someone already.

Picked up 4 iPads at Target today.

My experience at Target today was completely different. I used the tracking links and was able to purchase 4 iPads today at a Target after I saw a location nearby indicate "available" and "limited availability" for the WiFi versions.

I immediately drove to the store and noticed that they didn't have them in the display case. I approached a salesperson and showed him their inventory system was showing them in stock on my iPhone. He went to the back and came back in approximately 5 minutes and told me that he was able to locate them.

I said I'll take them all, he went back, grabbed them, rang me up, and I was done. Whole process took 15 minutes tops.

according to the inventory link, my local Target (Pasadena East) has both 64G black AT&T and 32G white AT&T available, drove there this morning, the lady said no ipad2 in stock, the online inventory is usually 24-48 hour old. s*ck thing about it is they never answer the phone, so they could've easily tell me that over the phone, ahhh,

I've seen no stock changes for 3G models at any of the East Bay (SF) Targets in the past 2 or 3 days.... hasn't stopped me from checking compulsively though ;)
