all the inventory for pasadena east is messed up. went there yesterday and got the same story. went to the other two story pasadena where a bunch of mules were already waiting. Then a guy about 8th in line decides he'll just run it when they open the doors and demanded an AT&T iPad. the first person in line says I was first but in the end it doesn't matter because they don't have any even though the AT&T 3G 64gb showed limited availability. The inventory checker seems to be all jacked up in this area. I gave up and luckily was able to order online at b&h..should get it by wed.

I was the first person with the purple hoodie in line and ended up getting the only 64GB white AT&T from Pasadena, CA. I checked the number on the scanner and it showed it was in the stockroom. The guy from electronics goes looking for it in the back and came up empty handed. However, the security guard says he saw it less then 30 minutes ago. I request to speak to an manager and she comes out with her handheld scanner and I give her the numbers again and she confirmed it was in the stockroom. She goes check with the guy from electronics and comes out with 1 iPad 2. The only problem was the scalper behind me in line was still there and claims he was there first. The manager requests security to view the video. They come back after a few minutes and confirmed I was indeed first. I paid for my iPad 2 and left as quickly as possible. I had commuted by bus from Silver Lake.

Thanks to the people that figured out the system. I may be Asian but I am keeping my iPad 2!!! My iPad now shows as out of stock on the inventory checker.

Called Target and they told me their shipments are random. What are the chances they re-stock tonight and I can pick one up tomorrow morning?

Found One in Dayton

Hi, Just wanted to say thanks to the OP for showing how to see stock at Target stores. Found one in Cincinnati last night showing limited availability. Decided not to drive 30 miles. Checked this morning (early am), no stock, checked late morning, showed available in Dayton, 8 miles away. Went to store and clerk had one box in his hand, one was left in the case. The clerk locked one in his desk, out of sight. I got the other one (64GB white), was looking for 32GB Black. Beggers can't be choosers. I'm happy and sinking with iTunes now. If they show stock, and you can't find it check behind the clerks desk. Thanks for the info and happy hunting. This was awesom.

They don't think that at all. Keep checking the inventory. They may have gotten more than their share for the launch so keep checking. They have been sending stores one to ten units of all flavors (the ATT seems to be the only one that they have not sent too many). Keep looking.

i've checked and called, and it's a big fat zero just about everywhere near me. none of them have gotten any shipments since last week. i'm about ready to phone it in myself and just wait a few weeks to months, because i'm starting to think south florida will be getting ipads last.:(

Check the inventory from 10PM to 7AM DST. This is when the inventory status seems to change. Make sure you check before 7am and get to the store before 8AM tomorrow (earlier might be better since it will be Saturday and many do not work on Saturday). Go to the store that has your desired unit that says available= two or more in stock vs a store that says limited inventory= one in stock. The more flavors a store has the better your odds.

Don't give up. Check tonight later is better. I noticed on Tuesday night and Wednesday night that stock was starting to show up around midnight DST.

So don't give up. Tomorrow may be your day.

Went to Target in Bloomfield, MI because it said "Available" at 715am. Went to the back and nothing was on the floor. New person in electronics so she went and got somebody. Heard a huge cart coming from the back. Lo and behold!!! Two 32gb black wifi ipad 2's!!! The one I was looking for. I got one and then another guy got one as well.

Right after I went to the Apple store at Somerset. Saw my friend who was second in line. Was there starting at 6am. Probably about 100 people waiting. This made me realize how much I love you guys lol. THANKS

ozred who used to be an upstanding citizen member has now turned into the resident troll agitator. Use the inventory checker on page 8 of this thread.

I was just curious.
I'm done running around looking for this stupid iPad.
I placed an order online yesturday and stopped going to the Apple stores early in the morning.

Honestly the iPad is not that great of a device. It's just handy to use when I go out and want to use something bigger than my iPhone to check on stuff and surf the internets.
I was caught up in the act of getting something that is hard to get.
The buzz will die down in a month after the international launch and iPads will be widely available again.

Hey Sam, it is not an ethnic thing. I am glad that you got one. The mules are making it harder for all of the end users regardless. And the mules are made up of all kinds of folks so labels don't apply.

MORE SUCCESS: Be persistent if you really want it

Thanks again for this great thread. :D Last night I checked my local Target's inventory (Gainesville, VA) before closing & no iPads were available. I checked again @ 12am & the 32gb status changed to "available".

I arrived @ 7:55am to see 2 people in front of me. When they let us in, we all went to the electronic's dept. Of course the dept cashier said that they didn't have any b/c they sold them yesterday. We told him about the online inventory status & asked him to look in the store and in the backroom. He checked several places (in between answering the phone & telling people no, there were none in stock), but came back to us each time explaining that they are nowhere to be found & that they don't have any. The other 2 guys eventually became frustrated & left. I found a manager and asked him to look and he assured me that they don't have any even though the inventory system says 2. I nicely asked him if there was anyone else that would know for sure, so he got on the walkie talkie to talk to the inventory manager that was on his way out. Sure enough, he came over & said "yeah, we received 2 last night & they are in the back, still in the shipping box. I'll go get them". The manager & dept cashier apologized a couple of times & rung me up.

I did feel a little bad because had the other 2 guys stayed around, I would have missed out. This thread proves that the inventories are correct, the majority of opening associates are uninformed, and that persistence wins out every time.

at least you're getting stock nearby. here, it's been nothing. at all. for 30 miles. i'll check tomorrow, but i get nothing again, i'll likely sit out until april, as i'm starting to think that's when the next shipment is coming here.

Save your footsteps and your fuel and use the inventory checker on page 8 of this thread. If you see units appear at your local store then take a ride. If you don't then wait on your order. Up to you. I started looking at Target after 4 frustrating days of waiting for hours in line at the apple store only to be told "nope, not today. or no more left or we didn't get any and we don't know when we will". They want to keep the lines going so I finally gave up in disgust. Went to the Target inventory tracker Tuesday night and had a 32gb by 8:22AM the next morning.

Stock hasn't shown up in my area since Tuesday night. I just had a plan once it did show and went after it. No stock shows right now but when it changes I will let those here know so perhaps another member can get lucky like I did.

Yes I've been checking daily the last 3 days and nothing on the 3G AT&T model in my area. I'm sure Target is not getting too many of those units as even Apple had none yesturday.

My local Target has been saying "limited availabilty" for about three days now. I'm going there in a little bit to check it out. I've called probably six times and every time they say no, they don't have them. I haven't pressed the issue too much, because I don't want them to find it and sell it to someone else first. What do you guys think the chances are that the inventory is incorrect? Is it really possible they've had one iPad for three days and no employees have noticed it? Seems hard to believe.

Each time I call, they just say no, without looking.

Thought I'd share my success story. I failed to get an iPad this morning at the Apple Store waiting in line but came back home and did an inventory check at my local Targets and Voila! "Available" was shown at one of them and I rushed to get there, turned out they had only 6 iPad 2 (White) WiFi ones available and got mine! :) I was told they only had them for about an hour and when I called I thought they would be gone by the time I got to the Target because my drive was 20 minutes. As everyone else says, Target has the most accurate inventory availability checker. Thank you so much for giving us the guide H335. Anyhow, thought this may help keep those who really want theirs ASAP optimistic! Happy Hunting!

I think the people at Target are big fat liars! I was checking my local store last night and it said limited availability. Then this morning it said in stock so I went there. Well, the two guys said they hadnt gotten any in for a while and one of them suggested I go wait in line at Apple in the AM. Whatever. I came home and checked again and it still said available. SO I called, same story, and then I asked her to check the DCPI#. She was shocked I knew the number. Anyway, she checked and said they still had zero. I just do NOT believe them. All the other nearby targets are out of stock. It seems to be the inventory links are accurate and this chick was just lying. Something isn't right.

I went to a target that says LIMITED AVAILABILITY for 4 or 5 different models. I went in and they had nothing. The employee said they got their last shipment in 4 days ago and sold out in a few hours. Those Target links are not always accurate.

Very True. I've always done well selling my used Apple laptops, phones, etc. But I had no idea how much money one could make on new sealed box iPads.

1) I'm sharing my experience just like everyone else, that should be obvious.

Apparently you feel the only person that should profit is Stevie.

2) Here's a friendly reminder that you don't have to read threads that upset you.

I must say I'm still a bit taken aback. It must be that many people in my area have given up and ordered from Apple.

Walking into Target again this morning, there were just three people in line ahead of me. When it was my turn I was fortunate enough to pickup four more black 64GB GSM models. Just what my buyer wanted.

The demand for GSM to ship out of the USA is unreal. Apple really has a hot product in the iPad 2.

Yet that said, I've always found via personal experience that the second generation Apple products are amongst their best.

Cheers :)
You are so full of it. You've purchased 11 iPad 2s. RRRRRight!

Just wanted to say thanks to the people who got this system working. After seeing no inventory anywhere in Tampa when I got up this morning, I gave up and went to work. Despondently sitting at my desk, I checked this thread and after seeing more success stories, I decided to expand my search. Saw availability for a white 64 wifi about 40 minutes away (Palm Harbor for those of you interested in details). Figured it was a lost cause (it was after 11:00 at this point), but it's a nice Friday for a drive so I figured what the heck.

By the time I got there it was nearly noon, and I felt ridiculous asking the electronics guy to check the back room. What are the odds at noon on a Friday? Score. Got the last one (they had received two last night). One thing to note is that this Target apparently kept them in the back room even though they came in last night. So don't be shy about asking.

Good luck everyone, and thanks again to H335, damixt, jreuschl, et al.

I had my eye on that this morning. It is actually not too far from me, but the opposite direction from where I needed to be for work. I’m really looking for a 16gb white wifi, so was a bit on the fence about it anyways. The Palm Harbor store had 5 of them last Friday from what I heard. I should have went there first last Friday instead of the super Walmart in Oldsmar. Oh, well. Congrats!

Go to the store and check the stock number yourself at one of the price scanners. There is a keypad on the right side and you can punch in the DCPI number. It will tell you if the product is out of stock, in the aisle, or in the store room.

My store shows limited availability yesterday . I went there yesterday and they said they didn't have any. It's a white 16gb AT&T. Today i went by after work and they had it, albeit incredibly well hidden behind all the other iPads. If i didn't know the box was slightly thiner i would have missed it. Its behind all the other iPads but its there. I almost bought it but decided to just be patient and let someone else score the one they want. (I want the 64 black AT&T)

I enjoy the chase. I'll find one eventually. Either way, those links were right, its the employees who are not completely in the know, for whatever reason.

Off to the golf course i go!

I hope everyone realizes that alerting target to there own online tracking system is a sure way for them to pull this item. If your walking up to an employee and showing them where it shows "Availability" via mobile device your a ****** idiot. You do realize that tracking the ipad is not even available on the main website.

I'd just like to give thanks for the info posted here as it enabled me to get a 64Gb White Wifi iPad 2 this morning.
After lining up for 3 days at Apple stores in the Raleigh area without luck I read this thread and checked out the inventory at the local Targets not really expecting them to get any shipments soon. All showed out of stock last night. However this morning at 07:30 two of the stores showed "Limited Availability" and luckily one was the nearest to me. I got there at 08:10, asked the guy who was putting stuff out on the shelves in the Electronics section but he couldn't help me and directed me to other staff members. Sure enough after 5 minutes they confirmed they only had one iPad 2 delivered that evening and it was already out on the floor. I reckon the first guy didn't even look at what he was putting out as he had a load of other items to scan and display. I just count myself lucky to get there in time. Whilst I was paying the sales guy picked up a call from someone asking if they had any iPads left and he had to give him the bad news that he'd just sold it to me!

So keep checking their inventory, it's definitely accurate.

Hey Chippy... which Target? I'm in Raleigh as well.
