I've seen no stock changes for 3G models at any of the East Bay (SF) Targets in the past 2 or 3 days.... hasn't stopped me from checking compulsively though ;)

Same. I haven't even seen one that said "In-Stock" either. I went to Emeryville Apple Store this morning and some people were there since 1am to be told at 8am that they received no iPads this morning. This shortage is serious, I thought it would've been figured out by now. I wonder how much longer it will stay this way.

Kudos to the initial posters

Just wanted to say thanks to the people who got this system working. After seeing no inventory anywhere in Tampa when I got up this morning, I gave up and went to work. Despondently sitting at my desk, I checked this thread and after seeing more success stories, I decided to expand my search. Saw availability for a white 64 wifi about 40 minutes away (Palm Harbor for those of you interested in details). Figured it was a lost cause (it was after 11:00 at this point), but it's a nice Friday for a drive so I figured what the heck.

By the time I got there it was nearly noon, and I felt ridiculous asking the electronics guy to check the back room. What are the odds at noon on a Friday? Score. Got the last one (they had received two last night). One thing to note is that this Target apparently kept them in the back room even though they came in last night. So don't be shy about asking.

Good luck everyone, and thanks again to H335, damixt, jreuschl, et al.

It doesn't help that we're in Apple's home turf—I'd imagine demand here is higher than elsewhere.

I'm just hoping my 3-4 week order from Apple.com can get manufactured before they run out of parts.

I'm curious why so many Targets are keeping them in the back, off the sales floor. This doesn't make any sense to me.

Today was my lucky day. After seeing there was limited availability at my local Target I rushed there arriving at 7am, making me the first person in line. By the time they opened at 8 there was a good ten people waiting. When we made our way to the elctronic section they had only one 32 wifi black which of course I got. I paid for it and ran out as the other people looked on in disbelief. Only one in the entire store and I was lucky enough to get it. :)

Thank you so much to this site for helping me in my search. Good luck to everybody else.

Found one iPad 2 in Raleigh

I'd just like to give thanks for the info posted here as it enabled me to get a 64Gb White Wifi iPad 2 this morning.
After lining up for 3 days at Apple stores in the Raleigh area without luck I read this thread and checked out the inventory at the local Targets not really expecting them to get any shipments soon. All showed out of stock last night. However this morning at 07:30 two of the stores showed "Limited Availability" and luckily one was the nearest to me. I got there at 08:10, asked the guy who was putting stuff out on the shelves in the Electronics section but he couldn't help me and directed me to other staff members. Sure enough after 5 minutes they confirmed they only had one iPad 2 delivered that evening and it was already out on the floor. I reckon the first guy didn't even look at what he was putting out as he had a load of other items to scan and display. I just count myself lucky to get there in time. Whilst I was paying the sales guy picked up a call from someone asking if they had any iPads left and he had to give him the bad news that he'd just sold it to me!

So keep checking their inventory, it's definitely accurate.

I also wanted to chime in and say Thanks to the original poster and everyone else that helped with this search. I was finally able to track one down this morning. Last night it showed out of stock and then this morning I checked at 6:30 the Target down the street from my house showed Limited Availability. Drove down at 7:30 and snagged the one 64 gb Att White they received. Thanks again and good luck to everyone else.

the West Palm Beach Target store has never gotten a shipment period. in fact, it's pretty much the same story for the past week here (expect most got an initial shipment). looks like palm beach county is getting shafted.

I think receiving takes them in overnight, usually 4-6 am and us crazy people are lining up to get them right at 8. Unless they are aware of the craziness, most Targets will get restocked as the day goes on and only a small % of the overnight deliveries will be out on the floor by 8:00 am. :) Also they have to unlock and re-lock the case, something they probably don't want to deal with early in the day.

Old people don't need the IPAD 2. j/k ;)

Target- be persistent!

Wednesday night I checked and there was "out of stock" at anything local in Indy. 6am yesterday morning, a Target close by showed available for black 32gb wifi. I showed up at opening. No one else in line. When I went to the back, none were there. When I asked the electronics person stocking she said the weren't getting any until the 22nd or later. I told them they had two, she said they didn't. At customer service, I gave them the dcpi # and it showed two. Another customer showed with this same info from the forum. I continued to tell them they had two. Finally, someone went to a manager to ask. Next thing I know the lady from electronics heads to the back room and I hear here saying "they told me not to put them out yet". Out she comes with two 32gb wifi black, one white 64gb wifi. I told her that I knew she had some and she told me she was told not to put them out. Not sure why, but if you use the link and it says they are "available" and target says they don't have any, don't leave. They are there. I told them my info hadn't been wrong yet. Hope this helps.

according to the inventory link, my local Target (Pasadena East) has both 64G black AT&T and 32G white AT&T available, drove there this morning, the lady said no ipad2 in stock, the online inventory is usually 24-48 hour old. s*ck thing about it is they never answer the phone, so they could've easily tell me that over the phone, ahhh,

all the inventory for pasadena east is messed up. went there yesterday and got the same story. went to the other two story pasadena where a bunch of mules were already waiting. Then a guy about 8th in line decides he'll just run it when they open the doors and demanded an AT&T iPad. the first person in line says I was first but in the end it doesn't matter because they don't have any even though the AT&T 3G 64gb showed limited availability. The inventory checker seems to be all jacked up in this area. I gave up and luckily was able to order online at b&h..should get it by wed.

"They told me not to put them out yet", "They must have come in overnight", etc... just excuses for overlooking it/being lazy/trying not to look bad.

It pays to be persistent, but be nice about it - after all, many employees are genuinely clueless about the issues going on with iPad availability and aren't used to customers having done this much homework.

Glad you were persistent in a nice way and that it worked out!

Win Big At Target !

No. You're stimulating your f***in' wallet!
Very True. I've always done well selling my used Apple laptops, phones, etc. But I had no idea how much money one could make on new sealed box iPads.

1) Seriously, why do you keep coming on here and flaunting what you're doing?

2) I could give a rat's a$$ that you are buying and reselling...it's free enterprise, but know that there are literally thousands of people who are looking for "one" for personal use and don't need this crap thrown in their faces day after day.

1) I'm sharing my experience just like everyone else, that should be obvious.

Apparently you feel the only person that should profit is Stevie.

2) Here's a friendly reminder that you don't have to read threads that upset you.

I must say I'm still a bit taken aback. It must be that many people in my area have given up and ordered from Apple.

Walking into Target again this morning, there were just three people in line ahead of me. When it was my turn I was fortunate enough to pickup four more black 64GB GSM models. Just what my buyer wanted.

The demand for GSM to ship out of the USA is unreal. Apple really has a hot product in the iPad 2.

Yet that said, I've always found via personal experience that the second generation Apple products are amongst their best.

Cheers :)

Without having to read through all the pages... What are people's experiences in regards to the accuracy of the online system vs. the in store system? Online my local Target says, "Limited Availability" for a 64GB White WiFi only, but in store it said Aisle = N/A, Stockroom = No.

Eh...two of the stores near me have showed "Available" for the 64GB AT&T Black since early this week. I've been to both and the scanners showed Aisle N/A / Stockroom NO. So, not sure if there is a glitch for those two stores or what, but the online system isn't foolproof...

I picked one up and the electronics guy knew they had 1, but he still didn't come out for about 15 minutes. Must be hard to find things in Target stock rooms!

What city are you located in?
Seems like a lot of iPads in your area

I suppose that if you had to outrun an old person who was ahead of you waiting outside the door to the electronics department then the old person would probably lose.
Whether an old person needs an ipod2 is another question. Some would say that the young should be out doing other things instead of sitting playing with ipads and becoming an obese population so I guess it depends on who you talk to.

I went by the target in Turnersville NJ and Deptford NJ..

Both had no stock, but the inventory said they did. I asked the dude and he said they only got two in since launch... he said the online inventory is a joke.

maybe they think only old people live here, so they skip palm beach and keep driving...that's nice. i'm starting to think we won't see ipads here again for quite a while. should i drive to miami for one?

They don't think that at all. Keep checking the inventory. They may have gotten more than their share for the launch so keep checking. They have been sending stores one to ten units of all flavors (the ATT seems to be the only one that they have not sent too many). Keep looking.

Beware: Livonia, Michigan target has Ipad2s in stock, but they're "reserved"

The Target store in at Plymouth and Middlebelt in Livonia, Michigan showed stock of Ipad2 Black 32G +wifi just before lunchtime today. The stock didn't show when I ran a search last night or early this morning.

Since I was running errands, I drove there without calling. The girl behind the counter first told me that they "Hadn't gotten any Ipads since launch." When I told her I found them on the website, she then changed the story to "Those are reserved."

After some haggling, I convinced the nice young lady to check the back. She was able to locate them, but her manager came out and told me that she would not sell me one, because they were "reserved".

Her story was that the store was supposed to receive units on launch but did not, and so they made an unspecified number of reservations for the stock that they do get in. I mentioned that no other stores are taking reservations, nor is Target corporate, and she told me that this was policy at her store only.

Frankly, I'm not sure I believe her.

It has been proven here that the inventory checker is accurate. They are either not checking the stock in the back or more likely they are hiding them because they have been bribed.
