Looks like we'll have to do the same grind tmrw morning! Since no knows when stores get the shipment. Anyways, so what are most folks buying?32 or 64? I was bent on 64 earlier but now think 32 is a better choice since this is not really a music player. So isn't 32 enough for apps, podcats and couple of movies? iPad really cannot be used as a file storage since apple does not allow that.

Most Targets are stocking the Wi-Fi only 32GB...I have never seen a 16GB model become available in the last few days, and only few 64GB models...

The online inventory system is better than 98% accurate, but sometimes with time delay. I live in NYC so I have checked for the last few days and the only place that has shown any availability close by is a Target in Queens, where it showed 32GB White Wi-Fi available for 3 days in a row. and i went there 2 of the 3 days and they had none (even the in-store inventory check showed 0 in stock)... Even this morning it was showing availability, but as of now they have finally corrected it...so, there are definitely some inaccuracies.

I was finally able to snag one in CA (family live in CA), a 32GB White Wi-Fi, and hopefully it will get here by Monday :)

As a side note, I believe there is a reasonable chance that Target may have received a decent allocation from Apple, but decided to send them to their stores 'a few pieces at a time' to manage the crowd situation as well as make sure people go to their store on a regular basis, as opposed to places like BBY or Wal Mart which sold out of their entire inventory on the first day and have been turning customers away ever since.

The Target store in at Plymouth and Middlebelt in Livonia, Michigan showed stock of Ipad2 Black 32G +wifi just before lunchtime today. The stock didn't show when I ran a search last night or early this morning.

Since I was running errands, I drove there without calling. The girl behind the counter first told me that they "Hadn't gotten any Ipads since launch." When I told her I found them on the website, she then changed the story to "Those are reserved."

After some haggling, I convinced the nice young lady to check the back. She was able to locate them, but her manager came out and told me that she would not sell me one, because they were "reserved".

Her story was that the store was supposed to receive units on launch but did not, and so they made an unspecified number of reservations for the stock that they do get in. I mentioned that no other stores are taking reservations, nor is Target corporate, and she told me that this was policy at her store only.

Frankly, I'm not sure I believe her.

livonia and canton both show "Available" for WiFi 32GB Black models, yet calling both they "do not have any at all in stock of any model."

i'm in ann arbor... should i go bother trying to get them to find the iPads?

liv says "check store for aisle location" but the other one says aisle F5.

i'm noticing a pattern. did apple produce less of the 16 GB models over the higher capacity models?

possibly. but i haven't seen a single one around here in a week. we may be low on the priority list.:(

Just missed a 16g wht wifi in northern cincinnati about 2:00pm. Guy walked up literally a split second in front of me. Weird thing was in never showed up when I checked web site for stock. I only found out it was there cause a friend called me when he saw it.

Havent seen many posts of people snagging 16 gb wifi's at Target but just picked a white one up from Target in Champlin, mn thanks to this thread. They have one left so if you're in the area hurry on over.

I hope everyone realizes that alerting target to there own online tracking system is a sure way for them to pull this item. If your walking up to an employee and showing them where it shows "Availability" via mobile device your a ****** idiot. You do realize that tracking the ipad is not even available on the main website.

What? The fact that Target has this inventory checker has helped them sell a s load of ipads that would otherwise be sitting there. Most of us have bought accessories from them as well. So it has done nothing but help their business. They would be foolish to pull the checker. It would hurt their business and they would be no different than the apple stores. I will not go to an apple store after spending four days in line and getting nothing. I pre ordered my iphone 4 vzn 32gb from verizon online. Had it the day before the launch. Bought the cases from amazon. com. My MBP came from amazon. I will admit that I did buy my ibook through the apple store but that was only because with a 27" monitor I didn't want to take a chance.

I am a huge reseller and have seen it happen on a number of "hot" items. Wii, Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii, kinect etc...

I live in a2 as well and just ordered online. I've been to Targets the past few morning right when they opened and they showed stock, yet upon arrival they simply refused to admit they have any. I've given up.

Target in fort myers showed "available" this morning around 4 am. Went to the store at 1pm after work and they had one 32GB Black Wifi in stock. snatched it up and by 2pm the online indicator showed "out of stock". The girl at the electronics counter said they had 3 in stock when they opened.

Target Success

So, I was looking to pick up an iPad 2 as a birthday present and after reading this thread for most of the week, I started checking my local targets availabilities daily on the internet (Cherry Hill, NJ and others). Until I realized that they receive stock overnight I was just checking during the day periodically. On Thursday morning, at approximately 8:50 am I saw that two stores had models. I called them both on the phone and spoke to the person in the electronics department. One store (Cherry Hill) told me that they did have models, but that there were people considering buying them at the moment, so I didn't bother leaving work to go to the store. Another store (Voorhees, NJ), told me that despite the website showing them as having available iPads they had not received new stock since the launch date.

This morning I checked at 6:50am and found that a local store (Marlton, NJ) had "limited availability" of White WiFi Models with 32 and 64GB. I was the only person waiting in front of the store at 8am when they opened and went directly to the electronics department. The iPads were not stocked in the locked case where they normally are. They also had signs up saying that they were sorry but they did not have any iPad 2s. Undeterred, I rang on the help phone to get someone to help me. Someone came out of the back and I said, "I know your signs say that you're out of iPad 2s, but I saw online that you received new stock overnight." The helpful employee said, "yeah, we got a few in last night, I'll bring them out." She brought out two 32GB White WiFI Models and one 64GB White Wifi Model. I picked up one of the 32GB White models.

I've seen a few people say that "limited availability" means that they only have one in stock, while "available" means that they have 2 or more. My experience would seem to confirm that "limited availability" could mean up to two models since they had two 32GB White Wifi Models there.

After checking for quite a bit this week, I'd say that Targets in my area do not get 16GB models. They only seem to have 32GB and 64GB White WiFi models. I haven't seen availability for any 3g models.

I'd like to thank all who have posted on this thread in the past week that have helped me pick up this birthday present. It is much appreciated.

Go to the store and check the stock number yourself at one of the price scanners. There is a keypad on the right side and you can punch in the DCPI number. It will tell you if the product is out of stock, in the aisle, or in the store room.

Thanks! I'm going to do just that.

(

I believe it is Target's decision based on the demographic of their shoppers to get more 32GB units than 64GB...Also, most people are willing to cough up the extra $100 over the 16GB in these desperate times (I did too...was looking for a 16GB instead got the 32GB unit they had available)...this is similar to AT&T stores stocking more units of their own version than an antenna-less WiFi only (same with Verizon)

I was the first person with the purple hoodie in line and ended up getting the only 64GB white AT&T from Pasadena, CA. I checked the number on the scanner and it showed it was in the stockroom. The guy from electronics goes looking for it in the back and came up empty handed. However, the security guard says he saw it less then 30 minutes ago. I request to speak to an manager and she comes out with her handheld scanner and I give her the numbers again and she confirmed it was in the stockroom. She goes check with the guy from electronics and comes out with 1 iPad 2. The only problem was the scalper behind me in line was still there and claims he was there first. The manager requests security to view the video. They come back after a few minutes and confirmed I was indeed first. I paid for my iPad 2 and left as quickly as possible. I had commuted by bus from Silver Lake.

Thanks to the people that figured out the system. I may be Asian but I am keeping my iPad 2!!! My iPad now shows as out of stock on the inventory checker.

glad you were able to get it. i saw you, you were first in line. I can't believe that other guy that ran in there in front of you. enjoy your iPad!

FYI - I saw local Target had a black 32 gig wifi iPad 2 in stock (available). Went down there, saw electronics guy turn away one iPad hunter, but I still asked.

He said "no", but I said it showed it was in stock per Target's site. We checked the locator and it said NO.

He was nice enough to take my phone number and do some looking.

He called back to say he found two! Super nice guy to do that, so good job, Target!

I declined to go back and buy it since Best Buy had just called to say my 3G iPad had come in, but I thanked the Target guy.

So.... Even that electronic locator thing at the end of the aisle can be wrong.

Deliveries on Friday Nights?

Does anyone know if Target receives deliveries on Friday night, providing new stock for tomorrow (Saturday)?

There seems to have been no deliveries at all of any wifi ipads to any targets in San Diego all week. Its annoying.

I'm confused on how to interpret the scanner results. If it give me an aisle location does that mean it is in stock and that's where I find it or does that mean that's where it would be? It confuses me because even if it gives an aisle it says NO next to In Storeroom.

I was at both locations this morning and struck out (also farmington) It would appear their counts are off by one. I checked the scanners in store and had the lady filling the shelves check her hand held scanner with no luck in Canton. The plymouth store checked in back but didn't tell me about the "reserved" ipads. If any other stores pop up with availability tonight I'll probably see a few of you there ;) good luck!

Location just means where the products home location is. Basically where it supposed to be on the shelf. The system only shows you the Home. It could be elsewhere in the store as well. Always ask a team member if it's out on the shelf. You really never know as it's not 100% accurate.

Aisle: Section, shelf, location.
Aisle A5 5-3-1

Aisle A5
Section 5 (sections are 4 feet separated physically). Count down 5 section from the main aisle
Shelf 3 - Count up 3 from the bottom shelf which is shelf 1
Location 1 - Look at the label strip and count from the main aisle to the back. Alternatively you can see the location on the label strip at this point as you're close enough.

In Storeroom - Yes if it's in stock in the backroom as well or No if it's not in the backroom as well.
