The South Loop (Clark and Roosevelt - Chicago) Target had them listed as available for about an hour. I ran over there on my lunch break but by the time I got there they were all gone. I think one person snatched them all up. Bummer.

I am out in the suburbs though...by the time I could get into the city they would be gone.

Thanks so much everyone, I got one from Target!

  • Thanks to this forum and this thread in particular, I am now the proud owner of a 64gb white iPad 2, courtesy of Target. I have been using the links on page 8 since Friday 3/18 and after a few false alarms or late finds, I came across an In Stock notice in a local target, called them up, and they said they have 5 iPad 64gb black WIFIs available. I rushed over (about a 15 minute drive) and by the time I got there, there were two left, and they were all white. They also had a few 16 and 32gb WIFI-only ones available, all white. I got my 64gb and am soooooo relieved!

Just for background, I camped out once and missed out, tried ordering on B&H, but canceled, and am one of the last to reserve at Best Buy before they stopped taking reservations. That reservation is for a black 64gb wifi, which I will now be canceling.

Thanks again to everyone on this forum and thread. Don't give up, keep trying, I am proof.

yeah, if they're listed for an hour they could have been on the shelves for only 15-20 minutes, since it takes 30-40 minutes for the inventory page to update

I finally scored one. After sitting in lines 3 times at the Apple store and getting zippo my local Target had the 16gigs in stock today. When I went the store employee said they had none. I didn't let it go at that. I asked him to scan the bar code and the scanner showed 5 in stock. He said they are not here and there is nothing he can do. I continued to insist that they must be somewhere. Five minutes later I had it in my hands.

harlem

got a notification this morning that the east harlem store had alot in stock
i called up- they said they were gone within the hour

oh well.. still looking in NYC

SE Michigan update. Sorry but I got the last of 5 at Target W.Livonia store (1st ATT 3G I've seen in a MI Target). Thanks to providers of the links and iMacro setup! Couldn't have done it without you. I saw availability pop up at lunch time, almost didn't make it. Staff was very courteous but as left said "That's the last one, let the operator know". It now shows out of stock so at least that store is accurately updating.

I've done a lot of running around, so to let you know.
- Farmington & Canton show available but they don't have any (at least that's what they said).
- the Plymouth store shows available but are holding for 14 reservations from launch date (they are not taking anymore reservations). And they do show up on the in-store scanners.
- the best place to wait in line is Somerset Mall, you can wait inside the mall by 6:30am or earlier, they were still outside at 8am @ Twelve Oaks (I struck out both places...)

PS; Finally coming back to Apple, last purchase was a MP2000

Some script help, please

Okay, I've resisted posting this becaue I'm not normally incapable. I've read this entire thread, downloaded the script, and downloaded python for Windows. I only had 15 minutes to mess with it yesterday but I couldn't get it to work. It's obviously user error as I really (ashamedly) don't know what I'm doing. I'll spend more time on it tonight and get it running. But, if someone is really looking for some good karma points, could you please give the the "dummies guide" to getting this thing started please? I've gotta be missng something very, very simple. I just know it.

Thanks in advance and good luck to all who are waiting for the iPad 2.

1. Download Python for Windows and install
2. Download TargetIpadStock.py
3. Edit TargetIpadStock.py, putting in your gmail account info and zip code(s) to check
4. Move TargetIpadStock.py to c:\temp or something easy to type
5. Start - Run - CMD
6. In the black command window that comes up type:
cd c:\temp
python TargetIpadStock.py -t
7. Check your gmail in a couple of minutes

Thank you MacMullet. May the iPad gods at Apple immediately bestow upon you and your closest Target your preferred iPad configuration in your preferred color. :D

Thank you to everybody who helped figure out how to check target inventory. After so many failed attempts, I finally got a black at&t 64g ipad for myself. Thanks!!

Thanks CobraPA! Because of your post, I called my local Target and they had 4 (out of 5) White 16GB Wifi only today. I ran over and picked one up. I've been waiting for the Black 32GB AT&T, but I think I mint just cancel that order and reorder once all they hype and supply shortages die down.

You're welcome! Was it Montco or Warrington? Those are the only two that had any I've seen in the last few days around here. Glad you found one.

Whoot ! Thank you

:) ;) :)

Couldn't run the script at work, so I was just randomly going in and clicking the link for the ATT 64G White.

Out of Stock...Out of Stock...Out of Stock... Available... Out of Stock

WHAT ?

Available? Man... It's 2pm... No way it'll be there by the time I can get there at 5pm... But... a glimmer of hope at least. And so I checked it every 20 minutes while I was waiting to leave...

And I got there and... "Nope -- we don't have them" As I turned to leave, I took a chance: "are you sure?" (refreshing the screen on my iphone and seeing that magic AVAILABLE -- which I know doesn't guarantee anything!)
The Target guy said "Let me get Carlos -- he's the electronics specialist" Up comes Carlos... "Yeah -- we have them. Which one are you looking for? We just got them today and they're almost gone"

"AT&T White 64G" "Yup -- we've got it. Here ya go."

I heard about 4 people call in during the approximately 8 minutes I was in the store. When I left, there was only one left on the shelf (also an AT&T, but a 32g)

THANK YOU !!! Never would have got this today without MacRumors !!! :D :apple:

Oh my the fanboys are grumpy today.

Like it or not it's a grand total of ..... Oh nevermind numbers confuse you

Cheers & Happy Hunting Mates :)

OK I don't get this. One of my Targets had them in today and yes I purchased one but they had a 2 per person limit not the "netted another 7 stuff" you keep saying. They sold through about 20 or so in less than an hour.

Thanks for all the target links. I was able to finally pick one up at the Target in Greenland NH.

Hey a local! I gave them a call this afternoon and was shocked when I was told they had iPads available. Unfortunately they had 16 GB's and 64 GB's only I believe. Some combination that didn't include the 32 WiFi in Black that I was looking for.

I get an error message that says python is not recognized as an internal or external command. Any suggestions on how to correct this? Thanks!

Does The Python Script Work On A Windows MAchine?
Did anyone post instructions on how to get the Python Script set up and working on a windows machine?
If so, please point me to the post.
Any Other Suggested Shortcuts?? (in addition to the individual links where you must enter the zipcode each time.)
Thank You
