My S5, for the last week, with a workout a day of 60-90 minutes was averaging a lost of 5%-6% a hour. Yesterday, I unpaired and paired again including a hard reset. I did a short workout, (20mins) and today at 12:30 pm I was still at 47% after 18 hrs of standby including 2.5 hrs of usage, with very light notifications. We see if the better battery life continues after a longer workout.
Yeah it does seem the power cycles and re-pairing can help.

As a series 3 owner, I got my s5 lte two days ago, I am not sure I will keep it. The battery life is really much worse. What will happend in 1.5 years time? My series3 is noticably worse now than when it was new but still much better than my new s5.

Yiu need to give the battery a few days to settle down. It needs to go through a few charge cycles to reach its potential

They say the series 5 Battery won’t last for a marathon-

Haven't seen any major issues in battery on my series 5 44mm cellular so far. I'm jumping from a Series 0 so honestly anything is better battery than I was getting on that, surprisingly Series 0 still did usually get me through a full day though usually, although with very minimal actual use. If I use my series 5 heavily through the day, maps, music controls, weather, calls, texts, siri, etc it'll usually go below 50%. Some of that was kind of "new toy" overuse at times just fiddling with it because of how big of difference it was from my Series 0. I'm about a week into having my Series 5 now though and it and my use seem to be settling in. Through a pretty busy Friday now into Saturday at 3am it's at 54%. I have an easy 10-4 day Saturday so should easily last me through Saturday too.

Maybe I'm wrong on this but unless an iPhone is out of range on bluetooth and you're off of wifi networks on the watch, cellular should never kick in even if it's still on/activated.
well i found out why the battery drains at work.Im away from my phone but am on the schools wifi though.but it shouldn’t be drain though right because it’s on wifi?

I still get 2 days out of my Series 2, so hearing all of this is really concerning.

Because your watch is connected to your phone by Bluetooth. The watch will attempt to use the lowest energy connection available:
  1. Bluetooth to your iphone
  2. Wifi
  3. LTE

This thread alone stopped me from upgrading from my Series 3 to a Series 5. I will wait and see if future software updates fix the battery drain issue before buying (or even thinking about upgrading my Series 3 to WatchOS 6).

FWIW, I bought my S5 watch on Saturday and the battery was not good coming from my S4. I read yesterday about the 6.1 update, currently in beta, fixing the battery issues. I downloaded and installed the beta this morning and battery seems normal now. I'd still hold off for a bit, but when 6.1 drops I think it'll be fine to purchase it.

My series 2 has just suddenly gone from getting through the whole day with 40-60% of charge left, to burning through 15% per hour. No gradual change, just one day fine and the next hitting the 10% warning before lunch. Any ideas on what might be causing that? It's just normal wearing around the house/office with, no constant use, and I've even tried turning off background app refresh.

Yes with Raise to Wake off and everything else enabled I’m currently at 50 percent battery - 26 hours of use is my current pace - included some cellular and listening to music time. View attachment 867254

When I look at my usage like the image above, it is sometimes blank and sometimes has data. Why would that be? Why isn't there always some usage data?

I am currently charging about 1.5 in evening to 100% then wearing to track sleep. Watch is anywhere between 96-89% in the AM, with Theatre Mode all night. I wear the watch all day with AOD On, Raise to Wake off, Noise off. The watch is at about 45% in evening.

I've used the Apple Watch for a marathon before (~30 minutes behind the GOAT). It was okay. I had LTE on before and after the race to text my wife but turned it off during the race. As I recall, finished with around 50% battery. GPS accuracy was iffy, though, in this particular instance.

Thank you for the feedback! Much appreciated...

I have a series 4 but the same thing just started happening to me... Battery life was about the same for me after upgrading to watch os 6 the week it came out of beta. Today suddenly i got a low battery notice halfway through the day. I partially charged the watch and rebooted it and it seems to be burning about 15% per hour

I'm still on 5.3.2, since 6 isn't out yet for S2, so it seems like it's not specific to the OS version. My usage time is reporting as the entire time it's off a charger, which suggests something is constantly running and chewing up battery. No idea what though, as I've even power cycled the watch to ensure any weird processes have definitely ended, but no change to usage or rate of battery drain.

My watch lasted 22 hours on a single charge think my battery life might be fixed

Dunno if to cancel my replacement watch order

I just got an S5 on Sunday. Battery life on the watch yesterday saw it 15 hours off the charger and it ended with 23%. I understand that should get better over the next couple of days. But I was unprepared for the dramatic reduction in battery life for my phone. I have an iPhone 7. The phone usually ends the day with 70-75% charge. Yesterday it ended at about 35%. Will that get better in coming days, too? Because I really need the phone. The watch is just a fun device. But if the watch is going to kill my phone then I'll have to return it. That simply won't do.
