Musk criticizing Apple about “closed ecosystem” 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Looks like someone is really afraid of Apple Car finally, since it may be the real threat to Tesla for first time.

Time’s Up Musk. Time to let A REAL COMPANY show what the future of electric car looks like with true innovation. Don’t like it? Shut your mouth and start innovating with new technology then. Because competitors are catching up to your EV technology and about to give your company a can of w$&? A@&.
"Catching up..." HAHAHAHA

Not that I am aware of. And I am not sure I want one. A Tesla is a software-controlled vehicle. I don't want a poorly coded app running on my cars.

You mean like Tesla‘s own media app?

Because it’s not like Tesla has much in the way of software quality control based on my 8 years as an owner.

I own a Model S. Until it supports CarPlay, android auto, and uses a standard charge port, Elon can shut the hell up about walled gardens.

P.S.: if Tesla allows third parties to provide apps for the center screen, I must have missed that, right?
Tesla software ecosystem is developing. Great things coming.

Ford? Chevy?
Edit: that’s a genuine uestion. Lightning f-150 has more space, more charging capabilities, and is at a more reasonable price point than Tesla, not to mention 6s-to-60, which is unheard of for a work-capable vehicle. I suggest doing your research, but here’s a video:

And another:

Maverick is just a teensy truck, not a fan of it, personally.

Tesla FSD mistakes a full moon for a yellow light, so I don't think he's quite as far ahead in this race as people think he is. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

That is a tradeoff, either they can only look for lights/stop signs on intersections on the map and potentially miss new/unmapped signs. Or they can use vision to look for the light pattern and potentially mistake signs/lights for the real thing.

There hasn't been any real updates in 8 months and folks are "losing their minds" in the forums/twitter. Constant OTA is a case study that you can bet other automakers are looking at hard. Which neatly explains why none of them have done any OTA of note even though they all say they have the capability.

EDIT for Model 3 folk, you have an older S and I am pretty sure you haven't seen a real update in a few years at this point.

The major update they did to the multimedia app about a year ago (that changed the look of the buttons, etc) completely broke stuff for me for months. I brought the car in twice because it kept losing my Sirius/XM activation, and often the activation would not come back for 24 hours or more. After months of minor software revisions that problem was finally mostly solved. Then this couple of weeks they broke it so that numerous people (at least if you believe the forums - and I certainly experienced this) randomly lose Sirius entirely - the car doesn’t even acknowledge that the radio is installed.

Numerous other problems along the way caused by software updates, of course. Things like maps losing tracks of your preference for which way is up, the car constantly reverting HVAC settings to some setting it thinks you saved as your driver preference even though you didn’t, etc.

Those are just the software issues - I’ve had numerous hardware problems as well, ranging from the simple (12 V battery dying) to the complex (the entire MCU needing to replace, which worked in my favor because that’s how I got the free LTE upgrade, though they had to keep my car for a month), to the weird (strange problems with the TPUs, which again worked in my favor because I got the free upgrade to the TPU setup that allows each tire’s pressure to be displayed), to the dangerous (early on, a bolt on the axle came loose and I couldn’t control the car).

Anyway…

Would you trade all the OTA updates for having the same car that you bought in 2013?

No they don't hell the electric F-150 has less range than the Model Y which is already out. As for other manufactures coming for Tesla, with what? Tesla has the infrastructure to make the batteries etc. Not to mention a vast worldwide charging network that keeps expanding and being improved.
Your talking about a full sized truck vs. a car.... that's like saying your impressed that a Camry gets better gas mileage then a F-150, 1500 RAM, 1500 Chevorelt, insert any other full sized truck or even small truck for that matters.

The F-150 has a ****-ton more room for battery than the Model Y

I don't really use Tesla's media app. I don't like music blaring when driving, and when I do use Spotify since that plays all my playlists of music and podcasts on all my devices.

In general, software-wise I have had some minor issues with our Teslas (3 and X), but nothing major.

Elon Musk is an extremist loon who said that there would be no more covid by April 2020 according to his super smooth brain and he is said this things about the App Store because he wants to help his extremist friends like Peter Thiel and the other rightists gain access to all parts of you phone so they can install all kinds of spyware like Pegasus.

I think Ford may be pretty steep, especially if the electric F-150 is popular. It has the ability to be a backup power supply for your home like Tesla’s Powerwall but it will be 15KW instead of 10 for Tesla. No idea how much extra that will cost.

I don’t know about Volkswagen, but it sounds like they are going all-in with BEV’s world wide and in that market Volkswagen will draw customers. They are just starting to get vehicles here but their main focus has been Europe up until now.

The problem with musk is I don't trust any of his companies to succeed and it's not because he's not smart enough but he looks to push into new segments without any long term success. Yes spaceX is great but how much revenue does it bring in? I honestly don't know that answer and maybe a quick google search could tell me but if its just running off of hype then we have a financial problem. This is how I feel about Tesla, they are a great car but what separates them from other cars? I can tell you two big things that separate Tesla from other cars: It's electric and they have self-driving capabilities. The quality of their cars is no better than the current car segment and so what happens when all the other car manufactures start building electric cars? I'm sure that these big manufactures can build the same car at a cheaper price because of their infrastructure. So now the only thing separating them and these other cars is the self driving capabilities but we know that other car manufactures are already working on their own systems and you can bet that they are further on this then most people even know. This still leaves out one big thing and that is Google and Apple who have unlimited talent and unlimited money. There is no engineer they can't poach if they don't have them already. Apple nor Google need to build cars to take out Tesla because they can simply license out their self driving technology to current automobile manufactures. This is Googles current strategy with android, they build the software while they let the manufactures build the hardware. Apple on the other hand can do the same thing where they license out the software until they feel safe to build the car on their own, people forget that Motorola had iTunes built into their phones before apple built their first iPhone. Think about this, when the electric mustang came out it took about 30% of the electric market in the first three months! That is one model from one manufacture and imagine when everyone is coming at them. Then think of those people who have owned the more luxury cars like BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, ect. that switched to Tesla and decide to switch back once they show their offerings. Lets be honest Teslas are not the greatest looking cars and I can bet that if some people can get an electric car that self drives from the luxury car brands they will switch in a heartbeat.

Yes, but it’s also a ton bigger than what I really need. I currently drive a 2005 Prius with 290,000 miles on it. But we’ve lost power at our home a number of times this year and I don’t think that’s going to be unusual going forward. So I’m willing to look just for that reason.
