Genuinely curious. What "revolutionary products" would MacRumors members like to see Apple come out with? An industry-changing product like the iPhone isn't exactly a product that companies come out with frequently. They're relatively rare.
Yeah, I didn't add that but I agree. That F150 will actually see truck buyers buying it. Could you imagine Joe the Contractor pulling up to a construction site in his cyber truck? Are you kidding me?I think you missed out a small bit that Mach E was the 2nd most selling EV in US in 2021. It was also the 3rd highest globally.
I think Ford F150 Lighting launching much before Cybertruck would further impact Tesla sales.
I actually just got the newest Apple Watch for my wife (upgrading from the first Cellular model). It's crazy how far it has come. You don't notice with annual upgrades but if you wait a few years it really is something.Hes not wrong though, Since Tim Cook Apple has played it very safe and has not really done a lot of exciting updates to the iPhone for example. The X was the big leap but since then innovation has stalled. The Apple Watch as well. I upgrade annually, but lets be real, Apple has not innovated in a long time.
This from one of the worst automotive designers in the business... His designs range from pedestrian (model Y) to bizarre (truck).
Stick at Tesla. Mercedes, Lexus, and the others don't have a job offers.
Actually they are really popular in North America and world wide sales for the F150 series are pretty much close to total Tesla sales. So imagine what's coming for Tesla. Mach E has really proved that Ford can make a damn good EV.Yeah, I didn't add that but I agree. That F150 will actually see truck buyers buying it. You know, I paid for Logic Pro X and Final Cut X in like, 2012...and I haven't had to pay to upgrade it for 10 years even when moving to M1 macs. Having to reuse my charger from last year with my new iPhone (and Apple doesn't ask you to return chargers or cables in the upgrade program) is not nearly the issue people make it out to be. I don't even use Apple's chargers anywhere my phone goes anymore. I really don't need a 15th set of EarPods that can sit in my iPhone box either...I mean he's not wrong. While Apple has really hit a home run with their new processors, they haven't really been anything to write home about other than minor iterations of existing products each year. There's always some money-grab asterisk attached to every release that requires users to purchase upgrades for things that should be in their base models. Removal of things like headphones and the charger really hammer home the point that they're stripping out all the value-add niceties. There really isn't much of anything that I've purchased lately that made me think "wow, what a great deal". I just buy what I need and cringe while I eat the cost to do what I need to do.
Time will tell whether the world at large cares at all about virtual reality or augmented reality or if it's just going to be the next 3D TV fad. Nobody really knows what Apple has cooking with their vehicle project. Governments around the world are going after the App Store for anti-trust issues which is likely going to lead to major reform and financial losses for Apple.
I think this is pretty much the peak for Apple.
The model S has changed significantly since its inception. Interior is barely recognizable as the same car and the outside is quite different as well. They are also faster, have better range, and quite a few under the hood improvements. Its definitely a slower cadence of body type refreshes than other automakers but most of that boils down to the minimalistic approach in the first place. You can't pull a Lexus and just make the grill bigger every year if you have no grill to work with.Tesla does not even update their cars annually. In its entire run, the Model S has had only 1 iterative revision. I can barely tell the Model 3 and the Model Y apart. Only two new things they have done are Model X (which has not significantly changed since release) and the (gag) cybertruck which they have not delivered.
Of all people to complain that Apple is not doing anything new in design it should not be coming from this guy. Even copycat Samsung has done more drastic innovative designs with their foldable phones.
UPDATE: I figured out what he must have meant by “There’s Nothing to Look Forward To”. He thinks Apple should announce more products and services that they are not going to deliver for years or ever. That way you can look forward to them.
Tesla has set the example here:
- Tesla Semi
- Tesla Roadster
- Tesla Cybertruck
And the best one of all… the one you can pay for in advance while looking forward to it and hoping it will one day work:
- Tesla Full Self Driving
You'd think by now it would have significantly improved battery life.
My single biggest AW complaint.
They are not ground breaking products. They are consumer electronics. It isn’t like Apple is shipping quantum computers.Wow! Is this guy really calling out Apple like that? Is this a joke?
Trending at 2.8+ Trillion dollars in the market today. This is Apple. Trust and believe Apple has been delivering ground break products. So, yes, there is something to look forward to. All eyes are on iPhone 14

Wait a minute. Is this criticism coming from the guy that designed 4 cars that look exactly the same and the style updates have been limited to headlights. oh wait he designed a cyber truck that is fugly.
Tesla design chief Franz von Holzhausen recently commented on Apple's design principles and product launches, lamenting that Apple doesn't deliver something "to look forward to."

During a podcast interview with Spike Feresten of Spike's Car Radio (via iPhone in Canada and Sawyer Merritt), Holzhausen said that Apple's devices are "just a continuation" and a "slight refinement on the same thing."
He also said that he "hates to say it" but he wears an Apple Watch "just because of the fitness thing side to it. Otherwise I haven't really found much purpose to it, other than the fitness part."
Holzhausen is responsible for designing the Tesla Model S, the Model 3, the Model X, and the Model Y, along with the unreleased Cybertruck. He has been with Tesla since 2008, and before that, he was the chief of design at Mazda and led the design of the Mazda Kabura concept car.
Apple and Tesla have a long history of poaching employees from one another, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has also publicly sniped at Apple. Back in 2015, Musk famously called Apple the "Tesla Graveyard," and claimed that "if you don't make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple."

You realise this has absolutely nothing to do with Apple's product roadmap, right?Wow! Is this guy really calling out Apple like that? Is this a joke?

There was a year there where battery life hit a max then fell back again with the addition of more sensors and connectivity.
