Yeah, I'll never buy a Tesla product now – car or phone charger. I was a fan of Musk in years past but all this Twitter stuff has made me realize he's just an entitled narcissistic buffoon. I see someone driving a Tesla now and my gut instinct is that they are as narcissistic and insecure and assholish as Musk. That's not fair to them – and not accurate across all Tesla drivers, but it just goes to show how Musk has tarnished the Tesla brand through his antics.
Geez - what a horrible outlook on life you have. Feel sorry for you. I drive a Tesla and no where close to what you are describing.

Elon may say some weird things, but no one can dispute he thinks on a totally different level than most people and one brilliant guy. It sure would not stop me from buying another Tesla. If I had your outlook on life, I would not be buying anything or have any friends.

Think you need to spend less time on social media and try to enjoy life more. Would be a good New Years resolution! 🙂

MagSafe is an inferior product to what AirPower was meant to be, and to this charger released by Tesla. MagSafe is just a standard qi charger with a few magnets to align it. It’s not rocket science and it doesn’t charge more than a thing at once.
Then get a pad with two Qi chargers like MagSafe Duo. Mophie, for example, makes one that charges three devices.

MagSafe eliminates AirPower's killer feature which was not having to worry about the optimal charging location.

This is no doubt what some people said about Henry Ford despite the hatred and eventually the violence he helped bring into the world. I would not have bought a Ford car during his life time, and maybe for many years after that.

I like the design. The beveled surface tilts the phone up just a bit which makes it easier to see on the nightstand. All it needs is a Finsassin sticker.

Reality check

Reality Check: I got excited until I remembers that camera-bumps, sometimes large ones, exist.

Oh I get that. It just seems like an odd product for a car company. It’s as if Toyota starts making toasters.

They are best known for their cars, but Tesla is not just a car company. They make energy products, too among other things. Batteries and charging are both very much up their ally, so to speak.

Apple couldn’t do the charger. Elon landed space rockets, I’m sure he could make a phone if he wanted… after all a few dozen companies already do that to various degrees of success.
Maybe you didn’t see this in the article:
While Tesla's concept is similar to what Apple hoped to achieve with the AirPower, it is limited to Qi-based devices like the iPhone and the AirPods and it does not charge the Apple Watch.

I’m eager to see his operating system on his new phone.

They are Panasonic batteries.

Tesla fans are like Scientologists and Bitcoiners. Don’t even know about the saucy details of the stuff they shill.

i haven’t seen anyone here point out the hypocrisy of this product coming from a company that has done great things to advance battery efficiency and charging speed. Overlapping Qi coils is the essence of inefficiency, wasting a lot of power to heat, with the potential to negatively impact batteries in the devices.

Much like with Tesla vehicles (all electric vehicles), the most efficient way to charge batteries is through plugging them into the power source with a physical connection. The same is true with our phones, watches and headphones.

I don’t understand all the hate, seriously. I guess one can do a lot for climate change, space exploration, artificial inteligence, etc. But if you don’t like a thing or two they say, they’re the worst and deserve to rot in hell… 🤷‍♂️
I thinking you’re confusing marketing campaigns, 3D renders, announcements, and having a lot of investors for doing “a lot for climate change, space exploration, artificial intelligence, etc.”

Um, ok. Why?
Because their ugly truck is late to market while the Ford electric pickups are literally getting all the awards.

Alternate, or additionally, because he wants to scare Apple into not cancelling advertising on Twitter by making moves that
look like he’s going to try and enter their business.

It’s difficult to unravel the moves of an emotionally unstable person.

Because he’s a jackass. And a jackass with near unlimited resources is a danger to society.

I think the perception problem is when Musk leans in on fascist urges this gets dismissed by fans or those with confirmation bias as he’s only saying weird things.

Shame it doesn't come with an optional white cable, if it's going to be put onto a white table like in the promo photo. Tesla isn't exactly known for going the extra mile with their industrial design.

This thread is embarrassing. For the record, I’m a liberal millennial with a Tesla. I love it and respect what Elon has accomplished. I think his political antics are ridiculous, but I’m not gonna cry about it or stop buying Teslas. Not all of us are that triggered.

Not gonna buy a $300 charging pad that cant charge my watch though.

While their stock tanks and investors stream to the exits, Tesla's way of showing they're focused on success is to release a novelty phone charger that's supposed to remind people of a vehicle they still can't ship.

This is a succinct and robust analysis.
