my battery was slowly creeping down and i also have springflash. i just removed it to see if that will fix it for me. thanks for the catch

I turned off SSH through the "more function" on SBSettings and it seems like my battery is holding up a little better.

remember SSH turns itself on every time you reboot the phone. its a safety net to get into the phone's file system in case you screw it up somehow. just remember to swipe it off.

Oh thanks. I didn't know that. Since I don't have the toggle, I'm swiping then going into more/set toggles and turning it off in there. I wasn't able to get the actual button on sbsettings. I assume it does the same thing by turning off?

You just removed the toggle for SSH, you didn't turn SSH off.

Also it's a myth openSSH uses a lot of battery when on. It's only active when it's connected, otherwise it's in a sleep like state that uses a tiny amount of battery.

Yah i thought so too, but none one seemed to listen to me in the previous posts that you actually need to get the TOGGLE itself from cydia.

Also if you dont want SSH just go into cydia and remove it, its listed as OPENSSH.

My battery was draining faster after jailbreaking also. I restored my phone as new and then jailbroke it. After several hours, the battery stayed at 100%.

I added all my Cydia apps back and tested the battery and after 5 hours, it barely dropped to 96%. Back to normal!

I then restored a backup from August 2 and charged the battery to 100% again. After two hours, it's still at 100%. To restore the backup, I right clicked on my phone in iTunes and selected restore from backup. It doesn't restore the phone but it does restore the backup. I used Time Machine to restore my phone backups to August 2nd and then selected that backup in iTunes to restore to.

I have Rock and MyWi installed just like before when the battery was draining fast.

I don't see anything in Cydia called OPENSSH. This stuff is confusing. LOL

To fix my batt. drain double click home and kill task Cydia when u are not using the program. This seemed to fix the problem for me.

You turned off the Toggle for SSH, not the program itself.

If you never downloaded OpenSSH in the first place, then I don't think you actually have any program to turn off. Just a toggle...

In other words, had you installed OpenSSH, then the toggle you're seeing would allow you to either activate or deactivate SSH on your SBSettings screen. When you go to More, then Set Toggles, you're not actually turning off SSH. You're turning off the ability to turn SSH on/off via a toggle on your Sbsettings main screen. If that makes sense.

At least that's what I think...

Ok- I never downloaded OpenSSH and just turned off the toggle. Hopefully that will help out my battery.

Lol.. I think OPENSSH comes automatically when you download sbsettings do you see it in your package list of installed app?

Nope. nothing in my cydia and if I do a search in cydia for openssh I have the install option (not the modify option) so I assume it's not installed.

My battery is alright after Jailbreaking. I charged it today which seemed to take abit longer than normal. Its been going for 6 hours and I've only gone down to 98% this is with light usage consisting of installing a few things and some SSH based activities. I'd say not much difference to normal so far.

yeah I dno what it is thats causing my battery to drain slightly more than usual. I messed witha few things hopefully it works. I dont really wanna restore and rejailbreak/download

my battery starts to drain even more after the jailbreak now also

I have sbsettings, so im to

1. Downlaod OpenSSH
2. Toggle it off using SBSettings?

No....Why would you install it just to switch it off? The toggle comes with SBSettings but not openSSH

That won't help your battery. OpenSSH is used to gain access to the phone's file system. Many people use it for changing icons without installing Winterboard, SMS tones, custom lockscreen utilities and practically anything else you'd want to manually customize.

I was having battery issues as well. I just did a complete restore & reinstalled everything with the exeption of Sbsettings and it seems better. Whats everybodys thoughts on Activator maybe causing the issues?
Sb settings seems to be the one thing that everyone with the issue has installed.
Sucks cause I miss sbsettings already:(.

OpenSSH does not come with sbsettings. I dont know where people are getting that.

To fix my battery problems I do as another poster mentioned. I manually close cydia, as well as all other apps except bite, phone, and battery doctor pro. I also free up the memory once in awhile using sbsettings. Also using sbsettings i have disabled wifi as its easy to turn back on when I need it.

All of this has led to INCREASED battery life after jb. I just went 2 days without a charge. I full cycle the battery every time using battery doctor pro.

After testing the battery again all day yesterday and all night I found one difference with my phone between the time I went to bed and the time I woke up and that was in My3G. I had it completely turned off when I went to bed. When I woke up this morning there was a green check mark near Mobile Phone. Again over night my battery used 6% and there was usage of 22 min. Again, before jailbreaking and My3G I only use to use 1% and 3 min of usage.

Well so far so good after uninstalling Backgrounder... but is 30 mins usage after 15 hours normal on standby? I mean what makes usage go up?

Installed..

Sbsettings
Mobile Terminal
OpenSSH - set to off
Lockinfo with Htc plugin for lockinfo
InifiFolders

My 32GB iPhone 4 battery is as good as ever after jailbreaking 4.0.1 several days ago. I have installed:

Lockinfo
5 Icon Dock
Cydia
Rock
iFile
MyWi
My3G
MakeItMine

My phone was at 100% battery life at midnight when I went to bed, and around 7 AM the battery level was at 99%. I'm not sure why some people complain that jailbreaking is destroying their battery life as mine seems unaffected.

My battery is shoddy as hell. I got my phone Monday gave it a full charge had nothing on it but a few games and got 3 hours and 2 days 15 hours standby until I let it die out. Second recharge jailbroke it, got cydia, installed sbsettings, at&t logo, ultrasn0w and right now i am 21 mins usage with 16.5 hours standby at 65%. I am thinking of just restoring back to normal and no jailbreaking if I am going to average these sort of times.

I've noticed that my battery drains a lot faster as well. I jb and installed mywi and my3g. Just noticed it drains a lot faster than pre-jb. I have SSH toggled off and everything.
