Removed ultrasn0w and I've only lost 5% in 3 hours compared to 30 mins-1 hour. I think they're working on a fix since they've sort of gone awol.

Well just to be confusing, my battery life today has been fine. Winterboard was the only thing removed. I had restarted the phone twice yesterday. SSH wasn't even installed when my battery was poopy, I've since installed it and turned it off in SBSettings. This is just wacky. Maybe it has to age a little before it settles down. :)

My phone battery was the same as pre-JB until i installed MobileSubstrate 0.9.3228-1.

Once i reverted back to 0.9.3226-1, it was back to normal for me.

My battery life has sucked the past few days. I fully charge it at night, take it off the charger around 11, wake up at 7 with about 80% and over 3 hours of use overnight! what could be responsible for that much activity??
I'm getting less than one day of battery life with probably 2 hours of real use per day. Before the JB, I could get almost 2 full days on a charge.

Wifi on, 3G on, 50% brightness. All the usual JB apps installed

How were you able to revert back?
On my 3rd restore/ Complete setup of the week & I updated a few apps Now I'm Back to having battery issues.....
Really getting tired of this.
Never mind, Got it.Thanx

I'm positive my phone's battery problems were related to ultrasn0w. In about seven hours with light web browsing, some twitter checking and short phone calls I still have 85% of my battery left. Yesterday under the same conditions plus ultrasn0w I was below 60%.

I also have winterboard, and SBSettings. I suppose my themes aren't causing much of a drain.

If you don't need the unlock don't use it. For those of you traveling abroad, my condolences :p

Is there an app on cydia which gives out the health of the battery life, like coconutbattery does?

So from a full charge to about 2% I had 4 hours and 30 min of usage (which was only internet, phone and texting- NO GAMING or downloading) and about 20 hours of standby. I was wishing for a lot more usage time. More like 6 to 8hours.

My battery usage wont show at all since the jailbreak I dont know what to do to get it back. Any help?

OpenSSH does not come with sbsettings. I dont know where people are getting that.

To fix my battery problems I do as another poster mentioned. I manually close cydia, as well as all other apps except bite, phone, and battery doctor pro. I also free up the memory once in awhile using sbsettings. Also using sbsettings i have disabled wifi as its easy to turn back on when I need it.

All of this has led to INCREASED battery life after jb. I just went 2 days without a charge. I full cycle the battery every time using battery doctor pro.

Turning off wifi is a bad idea. Wifi uses less battery and if you turn it off, the battery will drain faster due to increased 3G use.

My battery life is still the same after jailbreaking...

3g off when I go to sleep
wifi on
location off
brightness about 1/3
less than an hour of ipod play
mostly web and apps, lots of texting, maybe 20 emails and very few calls.

have sbsettings, winterboard, ilock, etc

Consensus is ultrasn0w, then yeah? Any word from the dev team whether they know this is a problem/working on a fix?

how you get the black bar? (where it says usage)

So I've just read through all of the posts in this thread and I'm considering jailbreaking my iPhone 3G when I get a Mac within the next month. I only intend on going through this process to install the multitasking, home screen wallpaper and battery percentage that didn't come with the iOS4 update which I was a bit disappointed with. Do you think this will take a hit on the battery because nothing extra will be used in the background compared to my iPhone now (I don't think anyway).

I'm not really sure whether I'd actually use Cydia or not because the only things I probably change is the theme, but tbh I'd probably not even do that as I'm really paranoid about the placement and how the icons look. Most themes don't cater for all icons that I've got on my iPhone so that would really bug me.

Also, what is the exact test that people are doing to test their battery? On my iPhone 3G there's no way to check exact percentage (as far as I know) so how would I be able to see how much the battery dropped. I have an app installed that measures the battery but it only shows it in increments of 5%.

Thanks for any help.
