Those Kings 3rd jerseys are hideous. There sure are alot of BRUTAL jerseys now, none worse than the Oilers which look like practice jerseys. Sad. Some teams had classic unis and never should have switeched (Islanders, Oilers, Sabres, Canucks). The best ones are the ones that basically stayed constant like the original 6.

The Isles "new" 3rd jerseys are absolutely fantastic. Now only if we can bring back all the players that used to wear that jersey...

1st Overall Draft Pick here we come!!!

I don't know man. The Thrashers and Lightning are trying really hard for it too. I heard that the Thrashers are looking to shop Kovalchuk too. And the Lightning are just a mess. Tocchet as head coach? Geez.

I'm afraid the the Leafs will be just good enough to not get the 1st pick and not make the playoffs. Again.

I think the Kings should go back to either of these....

Oh, and they lost again tonight. Sigh.

The King's Jerseys really look poor. Their logo is cool, but their jersey isn't.

Anyway, as a SJ Sharks fan, boy am I happy right now. :)

Go Sharks!!!!

I'm a Sharks fan since day 1 at the Cow Palace. Had to dump my season tix finally in 01 (Damn dot-com bubble!!).

They're a lot like the Wings were in those late 90's early 00's. Great regular season and then fizzle in the playoffs. But then something happened and they have 3 cups to their name!

Um - seeing a similiarity there?

Yeah Boy!

wait that does not make any sense. Wings won in laste 90's and early 00's.

The soap opera is finally over.

Mats Sundin has signed a one year deal with the Vancouver Canucks.

It'll be weird to see him in a different uniform.

I guess the Rangers couldn't clear enough cap space for him.

Now we wait and see if this will put the Canucks over the top or not.

Is this where he was able to get the most money, or is this where he figures his best chance to win the Cup is at?

FINALLY! What a douche bag, honestly.

No chance in hell Vancouver is winning the cup. You have to get past the Wings and the Sharks out in the West. No chance.

The Canucks weren't even on my radar as a Cup contender. I don't really think this gets them there. I mean, Sundin is a great player, a 1-1.5 PPG kinda guy, but he's never shown that he could take a team all the way. Unless the Canucks make some serious trades before the trade deadline, I just don't see them as the Cup champs.

The Sharks are scary-mega-good, and the Wings are scary-good.

Exactly, I had the Canucks just squeaking into the playoffs. This does give them a boost, but like you said it's far from enough. Serious, serious moves have to be made to get to that level.

The Sharks are redonk, but as we've seen the playoffs aren't too kind to them. Hopefully that'll change this year. Conference Finals should be between the Sharks and Wings and it would be epic.

The Blackhawks keep improving, I do see them becoming a major threat in the West in years to come.

The Islanders will continue to prove that they should be taken out back shot.

I totally agree with you on the Blackhawks. They finally have potential. It's nice to see the team with the best jerseys in sports finally not be an embarrassment.

I made this for you TDD:

I don't see how one couldn't agree. They have a tremendous amount of potential. Agreed... that have a might fine jersey. The Winter Classic jersey is nice.

Awwwww thanks Surely. :D

*lock and loads M249 SAW and fires at the Islanders*

Believe it or not, I hadn't seen the Winter Classic jerseys yet. So I did a quick GIS, and came up with this site to see the jerseys:

Hockey Blog in Canada

I'm posting a link to it because of a few awesome YouTube videos that the guy put on his site. You just need to scroll down a little. Nice hits!

Epic!

I just re-lived the Scott Stevens hit on Paul Kariya... it sent chills down my spine.

Daaaaamn

Geez - Nabakov was playing like crap tonight. He gave up those 2 early ones and it went down hill from there fast!

Who woulda thought that the team with the most goals this season couldn't find 1 to get in the Wings net.

Probably a good thing though. Gotta keep the Sharks down to earth a bit so they don't get stupid when the playoffs hit.

The thing the Canucks and Sharks have that the Wings clearly do not is ELITE goaltending. Last year the Wings won despite Osgood; gonna be tough to pull that off again as he was playing out of his mind. The Achiles Heel of the Sharks is years and years of choking...and that goes hand in hand with Thornton...after several consecutive stellar regular seasons he absolutely disappeared in the dance last year. We'll see how Sundin meshes w/ the Canucks, chemistry is everything. I would never bet against a team that has Nabokov or Luongo; those two can go lights out...probably THE best two goalies in the world right now since Brodeur is beginning to show his age.

Osgood

I'm a Sharks fan at heart but since the Russian 5, the RedWings will always be one of my favorite teams. That said, with regards to Osgood, I'd be inclined to say Osgood was just so-so if it came down to last year, but don't forget, this is Osgood's second cup with the Wings. He did get them the 2nd of that back-to-back cup all those years ago.

So he's not a one-hit wonder.

^Thank you.

Marty Brodeur is perhaps the filthiest goalie in NHL history. IMHO, of course.

I know. Where's the respect? That guy is awesome- except when he's acting.

Hey TDD, I hear rumors that Doug Weight is on his way out- either to Edmonton or Calgary.

Also, the probable future of Maple Leafs' goaltending, Justin Pogge, started tonight against the Thrashers and got his first NHL win in his debut. Hopefully he works out to be the guy, because Toskala is not the goalie to lead us deep into the playoffs.

He won the 1st of those back to back Cups, Vernon won the 2nd. If he's so good why did they feel the need to acquire a starting goalie when he had already won? He's no "one-hit wonder" but he may be the luckiest athlete in the history of all sport for being on the Wings.

Really? He's injured. Any player could get injured at any age. This record is him "showing his age"?:

My point exactly. Brodeur has been one of those must durable goaltenders around and now he's going to miss pretty much the entire season...thus showing his age. Its a fact that athletes get injured more as they get older, its called life.

Again, getting injured can happen at any point in a career. Brodeur has been very fortunate to go as long as he has without a major injury. For a guy that has played 15 seasons in the NHL, it's amazing he hasn't had a major injury any sooner.

Plus, it is a classic injury for men in their 20s and 30s --Brodeur is 36 -- typically occurring by a “quick and violent contraction” of the biceps muscle Those age groups pretty much cover all players in the NHL.

Show me this "fact" that athletes get injured more as they get older. I'd like to see the numbers on that please.

Athletes don't get injured as they get older- they slow down, play less minutes, and get phased out.

Getting injured can happen to any player at any time. If they do or not all depends on their conditioning, playing style, and, most importantly, luck.
