I know. Where's the respect? That guy is awesome- except when he's acting.

Hey TDD, I hear rumors that Doug Weight is on his way out- either to Edmonton or Calgary.

Also, the probable future of Maple Leafs' goaltending, Justin Pogge, started tonight against the Thrashers and got his first NHL win in his debut. Hopefully he works out to be the guy, because Toskala is not the goalie to lead us deep into the playoffs.

It's ok, Marty isn't perfect.

I hear the Isles are going to be placed in the AHL. I kid. It appears to me that pretty much all the vets on the team are gonna be up for grabs. Dougie is having a good season (all things relative, of course) as he leads the team in points. Trent Hunter (my favorite player on the team) is leading the team in goals and has evolved into a strong, but appears silent type leader.

They have some major problems and we have now lost 10 straight games. The players and the new system that Gordon put into place ain't working. Something has to give. The last time we lost this many games was back during the dark ages™ from 95-01.

So, just how good are the Bruins?

They're looking good. Good goaltending, good defense, good scoring. I think they'll go a couple of rounds at least in the playoffs this year.

Hey TDD, congrats on the win tonight! You's embarrassed us. And welcome back to your 15 year goaltender...... man..... do the Leafs need a better goalie (and defense, and forwards...... Oy Vey.......)

That's a fair assessment of the Bruins.

Thank you. That was no easy feat let me tell you. He's the only reason we won and I'm surprised that we did that. Relish in the fact that we are still the worse team in the league.

Congrats to Bill Guerin, he got his 400th NHL goal last night.
Congrats to Josh Bailey, he got his 1st NHL goal.

Bruins win again today against Atlanta. Michael Ryder scored the game winning goal with 6:04 left to give them a 2-1 victory. It's their 8th win in a row.

After starting out 5-3-3 in October, they went 11-1-1 in November, and now have posted a 11-1-0 record in December with 1 game (Tues @ PIT) left in the month.

The win today puts them overall at 27-5-4, 58 points, tied with San Jose for 1st place overall in the entire NHL. They now have an 11 point lead over 2nd place (Washington & NY Rangers @ 47pts) in the Eastern Conference.

:D

:D

When Brady went down my brother sent out an email regarding the crappy season the Pats were going to have. I stayed positive but toldthem distro list if you wanted to see an excting team the Bruins were the team to watch. They all laughed at me. the other night my brother said damn boy your were right on.
They are exciting and are playng very well. I hope they keep it up.

Does anyone happen to have the picture of Carey Price's 'superman' pose that he did at the end of the game (Dec. 30th) against Tampa Bay? Or know where I could find the picture?

Hmm... I took a quick look, but couldn't find it (I checked www.montrealgazette.com and www.canadiens.com, as well as tsn.ca and sportsnet.ca). I would guess that it will start popping up tomorrow. I was, however, able to see it at www.tsn.ca in the video highlights section.

I found this pic though- pretty sweet action shot:

So The Winter Classic is upon us on January 1st. I really hope it's a good game (BTW, the Red Wings shut-out the Blackhawks tonight 4-0). It looks like the NHL has put a lot into this new annual tradition. Cool set-up videos on www.nhl.com.

Here's a really cool fact: Ty Conklin will be starting for the Red Wings. Conklin has started in all three Winter Classics (with The Oilers in '03 and last year with the Penguins).

I'd love for next year's Winter Classic to be Bruins vs. Habs at Fenway Park.

Oh, speaking of the Bruins, they won their 9th in a row tonight, a 5-2 win in Pittsburgh.

hockey at wrigley is ****in sweet

Hell yeah.

It was a good game- high scoring, good hitting, some pretty goals.

The pace seemed to slow down a bit in the third though- I don't think the ice held up late in the game.

Awesome uniforms.

Anyone catch Brent Seabrook's hit in the first period that sent Dan Cleary into the Chicago bench? Skates up- that was awesome!

that was a great hit. Didn't cause the red wings to put another skater on the ice drawing a too many men on the ice penalty?

Great game

Loved the outdoor game...great way to waste a new years afternoon. :D

Hope the bring it out east next year, Boston, New York, Montreal...any of those would be awesome.

Yes, the Wings got called for a too-many-men penalty. Cleary was in the bench and the Wings sent another player out thinking that they were short one guy.:D

first place overall in the NHL! 10th win in a row :D

Never thought I'd hear that at the beginning of this season! Wowzers.

The Winter Classic certainly didn't disappoint this year. The Hawks came out hard and fast (the Cleary hit was friggin epic) but the Wings managed to pile it on. The Hawks are 0-4 this season against the Wings. Could be a dog fight to the very end.

Hurray for Canada!

Our fifth straight World Junior Hockey Championship!!!

What a great tournament- I missed being able to watch it this year.

Did you Yanks even know it was going on?

Good for Pat Quinn. There's a fresh rumor going around that the Senators are going to clean house and make him the new GM and coach.

John Tavares was outstanding- 8G 8A- whichever NHL team lands him will be very lucky.

WOOOO!!!

That was a wicked game, but I still feel that the USA and Russia games were far better and more intense. The Swedish team was extremely chippy, and got away with a few penalties (albiet Canada could probably have had 1 or 2 more), but the punches to the head (both occasions) should have been called, they were against IIHF rules. Sweden's goalie was like a fish flopping around out there. ;)

Great to see us win it again, 5 straight baby! Always a joy to watch these games and I truly miss them when they are over. Its hard watching regular season hockey after watching this tournament. :(

The big questions now will be the draft. Who goes first? Well obviously Tavares has the edge right now, after having an amazing tournament, but don't forget Hedman wasn't playing 100%. Like TSN said during one of the whistles, pre game, or intermission (I can't remember, and forget the broadcaster  ) it's all going to depend on need.

Absolutely. Millard and Kipper were talking about that on HockeyCentral at Noon today. They gave the example of Tampa Bay, who are already really strong up front (and already have big $$$ invested in their forwards) and could use a solid big D-man like Hedman in the future. I think that the vast majority of the teams that will be up for the 1st pick will go with Tavares though.

Both jerseys were great. I really liked the Red Wings jerseys from the Winter Classic. They were really classy.

This thread is....... dying............ :( How sad.

The Islanders are really trying hard for the 1st pick overall. If they finish last and still don't get it, I think you'll have to find a new team TDD.

As usual, the Leafs are sitting right at 11th place- not good enough to make the playoffs, not bad enough to get a great pick in the draft. Business as usual in Toronto.....

Boston is still up there going back and forth with SJ for 1st/2nd place overall in the league. The Wings aren't far behind though. I bet they end up first overall at the end of the season.

Glenn Anderson's #9 is being raised to the rafters tonight by the Oil. About time. What a scorer. What a mustache.

Where are the NHL fans around here? Show yourselves, or I'll send this guy to kick your a**es...... :D
