Are you buying the 6S even after knowing a 16gb will be released?

As I mentioned before, my 16 GB 5s had over 500 mp3s, over 1000 photos, and a few dozen apps. And it was never entirely full. I think 16GB can go further than some people realize.
You have a 5mb camera... 12 mp is more than double file size For photos and videos.

Just letting you know the iPhone 5s (and iPhone 5) had a 8mp camera... not 5mp.

If people want to PUNISH Apple while staying with iOS, there the choice of buying the 32GB iPhone 5S (now $499 full retail, which will deprive Apple of $250 more they would get from a 6S 64GB sale).

It sends a double message: 16GB base storage is unacceptable, and some people still want a 4" display phone.

Of course, this means not getting Apple Pay and other new features like VoLTE support.

How would buying an overpriced 3-year old phone punish Apple?

Give them less $. $749 is the 6S price. $499 is the 5S price. The 5S is only 2 years old! Great update for people still on 4, 4S, and maybe even 5.

Or one could buy an Android. Or WP. But ignoring the new product sends a message.

Lmfao I've owned a 5s for almost two years and I always thought it was a 5mp camera. 8mp to 12mp will probably still be double the file size, but, not as bad as I thought when I thought it was 5mp lol.

Even if if you're paying less to Apple... the profit margins on such an old device (which now has much cheaper components to make) are still really high and line Apples pockets regardless. Not much punishment for Apple IMO. If you truly wanted to punish Apple you would simply purchase a competing product like you said, such as Android.

I'm not so sure. The aluminum unibody probably does not decrease in price much, and the other components probably no longer have the same economies of scale. If the A7 with discrete M7 is made on a larger fab process the silicon may not be as economical as an A9 with integration of M9.

We can ask the question: would Apple rather you buy a 5S or a 6S? I think the question is undoubtedly the latter.

If you are trying to stick it to Apple by spending money on a different Apple product you are really just sticking it to yourself.

No. If someone wants 32GB of storage and a 4" display, they are hardly injuring themselves by buying a 5S. Plenty of people don't want the big iPhones.

The OP has nearly $20,000 in apple gear, is uninterested in the 16GB version personally, but is thinking about not buying two of the 128 models because the 16GB model exists? This is a confusing protest. People shouldn't take these things so personally. As others have mentioned, it's an up-sell technique. Liking apple products while admitting that they're still a company trying to separate you from your money is not a hypocritical position. Apple is not trying be as fair as possible to their customers. They're trying to make products that their customers want and then take advantage of that desire as much as possible. Since this is the entire purpose of running a business, I'm just happy there's a company out there succeeding in making stuff I actually want.

The problem is how they implemented it. If they made a 16gb at $549 with a 32gb at $649 it would have been totally acceptable. In 2015 the standard smart phone came with 32gb minimum (that doesn't have an sd card slot). Apple deliberately choose to not upgrade upgrade to 32gb in order to force an increased $100 price increase on anyone who desires their product.

The fact that stocks fell today proves that apple is heading in the wrong direction.
Pretty sure Apple's stock usually falls when they have announcements.

Exactly. People buy the rumor and sell the news consistently with apple. The idea that a fall in the price of the stock today is related to Apple making these decisions tells me buster has never really paid attention to AAPL or the market at large.

That's nothing compared the the billions they lost. IPhone sales have already been lacking real bad and continues to hurt the company and the new 6s fails too even catch up with their competitors in basic specs. People have overlooked the fact that we never expected apple to add an SD card storage slot to the phones but it's 2015 and the iPhone has 4k video! 16GB is a slap in the face when combined with a 4k camera.

How greedy do you have to be at Apple to not think about the consumers? You can buy 128gb micro sd cards for $30 now and Apple could get it for even less. The only way this 16GB version would have been acceptable would have been a price reduction or apple finally adding an SD card slot into the phone.

iPhone sales have dropped drastically.

Apple continues to miss their projected goals because of the leadership causing them to stay behind the times,

Indeed lol.
Making Apple pay by buying another of their products and still giving them your cash?

The way to make Apple pay if you are that way inclined is to buy somebody else's product.

I think it makes sense.

Either use iCloud for less pricing with your 16gb, or buy the 64gb and use it. With the file size of pictures, videos, and music increasing year after year with more megapixels and higher bitrates, 32gb(minus the required iOS and system files amount of flash storage) really isn't very much space for what I would consider an average user. I would think @ 32gb, many people would be constantly shuffling what is stored on the phone to make room for new movies, videos, and downloading music.

So basically you're buying the product that best meets your needs? Isn't that precisely what these options are there for to allow you to do? If 16GB of storage isn't enough, you have the choice to buy a larger amount of storage. I'm afraid I don't see what the problem is.

The problem is that Apple hasn't upgraded the base storage in 6 years, despite flash memory costs being at an all time low. Are they within their rights to do that? Yes. Are they forcing anyone to buy the 16GB phone? No. Is it still a ****** move? Absolutely.

I was also going to suggest to get the 64GB. Do you really need 128GB storage. The 16GB will force many to cough up the $100 for 64GB. There's no winning. I highly doubt Apple will change its pricing plan. In fact, in tonights news, it was broadcasted that investors were disappointed of the announcement - Keynote. Sales will soon tell if today's announcement is a disappointment. I doubt it.

I don't qualify these decisions as good or bad as there's no point in getting your knickers in a twist over it. It's simply a business decision. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

What a stupid poll! Where is the "Yes but I was always planning to buy a 128gb and don't really give a s*** about the capacity of the base model!"

What 32gb model?!?!

I think I will wait for iPhone 7.
We still don't know the price in my country but is should be really close to the France's price that increased by about $40
The 6s with 16GB costs about $840 (taxes included) and the 64 model I'd buy is $960. More than $1000 if you want the Plus.
I understand most of you guys are from the US and buy the phones on contract and now you can have it from Apple with their new program, but in Europe those phones are more expensive than ever

They are complaining of having to do exactly that on 32gb model for a Samsung model on AT&T reviews. I think it was a ruggedized version of the S6.
