So by that logic, why not start with 8GB for the base price? More profit, use the cloud. The phone only NEEDS 3.7 GB of space to run.

Using your argument why doesn't Apple sell the 128GB for $199 off contract.

See how going to extremes make your argument weak?

Yes, at the base price.
Okay, then find a phone that meet your price. You can get the 6 if you want, same price as 6S but you get 64GB. Or short for other phones. Apple is not the only player in town. Geez. Apple doesn't put a gun on your head and force you to buy the 6S.

What are you talking about? Marketing is how Apple have built up the brand they have today.

Oh, and to suggest that the iPhone 6's display is as good/better than the one on the S6?...well that is just a joke. It's not. I'd say the disparity is wide enough to declare that as fact.
You're calling the 6S a low end product?

Its an over $1000 phone in Australia. Nothing low end about that.

It's an arbitrary price rather than a reflection of the quality of hardware. You find better hardware in a £300 android handset than the iPhone 6.

If people like and are willing to buy the low end product, Apple would be stupid not to offer it. Don't presume that those people are uniformed as to what they are getting, it meets their needs so they buy it. Having a low end entry product is good marketing, get people into buying the product and may lead to upgrades in the future. Total profits on the low end also help to subsidize some of the prices of the higher end products. Win all around for everyone.

Actual Apple makes far less profit on the 16GB phone than the 64/128GB phones.

That's what so ironic. The 16GB phone from a gross margin perspective is actually a bargain.

I think even Apple employees know it's a ripoff. It's obviously an upsell tactic

Name me a single company that does not want to sell you their most expensive and profitable product?

Of course they will make the high end product look the most attractive. What do you expect? You want them to make the 128GB $2000 so no one buys it?

This is the same thing with EVERYTHING. Look at cars. They sell a base model that hardly anyone buys. They want to sell you the models with a ton of options.

Are you joking right now, or do you not see what you are typing? I do believe your whole argument is that Apple shouldn't give away GB "for free".

My argument is Apple should not price in a matter that will hurt their bottom line.

LOLLLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOL!

Nice joke of the day. Tell me what are these 300 android phones that have better hardware than the 6s

I'm just saying that calling the 6S a 'low end product' is incorrect, as Apple sells it as its premium smartphone.

What I expect is for them to keep up with the industry. 32GB base is standard now, and it ought to be with the iPhone by now. I honestly believe if Steve was still at helm, we'd have 64GB base by now.

With cars, the base model is rarely inadequate. They're not giving you a 600 hp monster with a 2 gallon gas tank.

Exactly. All these people grumbling about 16GB want their cake and eat it to.

You can easily get a 32 or 64GB iPhone for $650. It just won't be the top of the line model.

This is like going to a BMW dealership and expecting them to price match a Kia Rio you just test drived.

Seriously dude, abuse? WTF? It's a freaking iPhone. You need to set your priorities straight.

Do you see prices for products from brands such as Armani, Coach, BMW, etc?
I clearly made it a point to say that's not what I was pointing out here, and yet you clearly tried to focus just on that very thing that I want out of my way not to say. Gives away a clear tactic there when there's no argument to be made.

The ripoff is that it's not made in the nation where it was invented. Billions could be sent through the U.S economy. Not concerned about how much they make per item.

Car analogies aren't cutting it. Been pretty clear from the beginning of the thread. Trying to repeat the same ones only makes it worse.

No its not. Its like walking into BMW and expecting that baseline BMW (still a premium car) to have a BMW engine and not a small Kia engine.

If we're talking about Apple vs one of the high end Android manufacturers, it's more akin to asking them to come close to the price and performance of an Audi or Benz.

Also, this is off-topic, but BMW has gone much the way of Apple. They used to offer excellent cars, which weren't necessarily the best at in any one particular metric, but the overall package was one of the best. Now they're just pushing out cookie cutter cars that don't have anything near the same quality and value of their older models.

He said iPhone 6. And the OnePlus One is arguably better hardware
LOL. Then buy the OnePlus One. This is not rocket science. Buy a phone that you think is worth its price.
Heck, I did buy the OnePlus One a year ago. Now I understand I get what I paid for.
