exactly. NO argument.

Apple knows how to run Apple and you don't. Thanks.

NEXT.
Yup, keep trying to shift the focus and covering it up. Doesn't change it. Anyway, no point in going in circles when the argument was shot down completely, and by the very person trying to make it.

Exactly. You point got shot down.

That's why Tim Cook makes $100 million and you bitch on message boards.

The 16GB variant isn't a rip-off for users who understand the implications of limited storage, but I'd imagine that there are hundreds of thousands of less 'discerning' buyers who bought a 16GB iPhone 6/6+ and, having rapidly run out of space, are less trusting of Apple than they were. Bit of a long term own goal by the company, I reckon.

warrior2000 brings all the facts to the yard...

You maybe right. But I'm sure Apple is keeping tabs on these events.

I know you are but what am I??

That is what we are doing now?

No, I'm just using your argument again you.

You say I lack creditiblity because I just joined recently. Yet you just joined recently also.

I don't care when you joined. I judge people by what they bring to the table not how long they've been a member.

You can turn off 4k video and use 1080p.

4k is an advanced feature for advanced users.

And cloud storage is so dirt cheap from Apple ( 99 cents for 50GB) and other vendors that there is no reason to keep these massive files on your phone.

I know people cry all the time that they don't want their files on the cloud but just on the device. That is stupidity. What happens when their phone crashes? They lose EVERYTHING.

Yup, let's upgrade to the iPhone 6S and turn off all it's options... :S
Then just keep the iPhone 6?

16GB is a ripoff, just face it.
In Europe the 16GB costs 850 in USD.
The 64GB will cost 960 in USD.
For these prices 16GB is a crime...

I don't care that Apple adjust the prices because of de currency rates, but make it fair and give people at least 32GB of storage for these prices...

However I'm not going to buy the 6S.
The phone costs 60 bucks more than the old 6, just to let you turn off all options because of lack of memory. No thanks.

Says who? You? Do you know how all 400,000,000 iPhone users use their phone?

I know a half dozen people who have the 16GB iPhone6 and have zero problem with the size. When they run out of space they simply upload their photos/videos to the cloud/home computer. This is a good practice. If you just leave it on your phone you could lose everything if your phone crashes or gets lost.

Uploading photo/videos every 6 months is no big deal. To these people they rather do that because they need to backup their photos on their computer anyway.

By this logic, why not just start with a 4GB model instead of 16GB? People could just unload all their pics and music everyday. I had a 16GB iphone up until the 6 - it's just too difficult to live with considering how large apps, photos etc are getting.

Also, iCloud does all the backing up for us. There's no need to have to manually unload that often just for backing up sake.

I'm not arguing for them to make the 32GB the base just so I can get a free 16GB - I've opted to go for 128GB so I don't have to ever worry about space. I just think the 16GB is basically useless except for a select few that barely store anything, but in reality how many users does that account for?

does not mean that I'm wrong if I have an unpopular opinion on this board.

Like I said the consumer will vote if this lineup is a ripoff or not. And so far with Tim Cook saying the pre-sale is selling faster than last year it sure looks like the consumer is saying the 6s is worth it.
Not necessarily... The problem is the average consumer probably doesn't realize it is a "ripoff". They'll just end up with a bad experience a year from now when their phone stops working correctly because its all filled up. The effect might not be instant but after a few phones with bad experiences they may consider switching.

Think of it this way... A huge percentage of Apple's user base has gotten by just fine with base model iphones. All of a sudden (starting with the 6 in my experience...) the base model is no longer sufficient for that user base. Technology is advancing and taking up more space, but the phone's storage capacity isn't changing. So if it's not a ripoff, Apple became the biggest liars when they said there was no price increase with the 6s, and they failed to let the consumers know that the 16GB model will no longer fit their needs as it has the last however many years they've been using one.

Most people on a forum less than a week and spouting off like you are just there to troll. That is why most sites have a post count before being allowed to start new threads. And I have been around here a lot longer than this account (I just like the new name).

Agreed with the post above me. This thread was done a looong time ago. Surprised the mods have let it go this long.

Amazing! Someone defends Apple on an Apple fansite!! What a concept.

Or should this site be called AppleBitchers or AppleCrybabies?

If you hate Apple and its policies why are you even here?

Go buy an Android already
Tim:
Over the last 10 years I've bought, or have encouraged family members to buy, something like $25000 (at least) in Apple gear.
If I bitch it's not because I hate Apple, it's more because I'm increasingly unhappy with the direction and priorities you've taken the company in.
I think Apple can do better.

The iPad Pro starts at 32GB because its a Pro device.
The AppleTV starts at 32GB because eventually it will turn on a DVR function.

Again if the 16GB is too little then buy the 64GB.

I hate when authors think EVERYONE ON THE PLANET has the same needs and usages as they do. Literally TENS OF MILLIONS of users are doing fine with 16GB or storage. My parents are 100% fine with 16GB. They take a lot of pitures but every few months they download then to their computer. Why? One to free up space on their phone but more importantly to BACK UP their photos on their computer and the cloud. If they just left it on their phone they could lose ALL THEIR PHOTOS if their phone crashed or got lost.

Of course some dude on a tech site will say 16GB is not enough. He's a tech-head. Many normal people love their 16GB phone and fine no problem in fiting everything they need in it.

I have to call bullcrap on this - my friends are tech-illiterate and have 16GB iPhones. All of them regret it and wish they had gotten the 32/64GB iPhones, because of their pictures and videos taking up space.

Did you even read my post?

If Apple's profits shrink the stock price will crash. If the stock price crashes they WILL LOSE TOP TALENT. All the top employees get 90% of their compensation from stock options.

Do you really want Apple to lose its top employees?
How come this didn't happen when they bumped the base storage from 4-8GB and from 8-16GB?

Their stock price would not crash.

32gb on the Apple TV because you claim there will be DVR support? What possible need is there to cache videos on a non-portable device? It doesn't even stream content, everything is an app.

Plus look at the price... They can put 32gb in a cheap Apple TV, but not a $750 phone?

So now your small circle of friends equals the entire world market?

If 16 GB isnt enough they can upgrade. No matter if you have 64GB you will still run out of space if take a decent amount of video.

Comparing a phone to a set top box is silly. Totally different products with different storage requirements.

Been clear for some time. This thread was done from the beginning.

For you it has. You have your mind made up that 16 GB is a ripoff and no amount of facts will change your opinion.

Others are more opened minded and can see the larger picture and long term implications.

You can run out of space with 128GB too, but that's not the point. This is why people are pissed off about 16GB:
1) We've had it for 6 years now; Apple has never gone this long without bumping storage capacity in the past
2) The phones today eat a lot more data than when 16GB became base. In the 3GS days, we only had 3MP photos and 480p videos. Now with 4K videos and 12MP live photos, that 16GB doesn't go nearly as far.
3) It limits developers to an extent. They have to keep in mind that half their user base will have bought the cheap phone, in which case they have to sacrifice some assets in their apps

You're right, the Apple TV doesn't need 32GB, there's much less reason for it to have it than the iPhone.

Just accept it. The only reason the iPhone has 16GB still as the base is because Apple can push more people to spend $100 more for 64GB, and for those that still get the 16GB they will be more likely to upgrade earlier.

Use the cloud or backup on your computer. There really isnt any reason to keep 10,000 photos and 40 GBs of video locally on a phone.
