Recap of Last Night's Action:

Avs win! Avs win! Avs win.
3-2 lead coming home.
Let's close it out at home on Saturday boys.
Theodore stood on his head, was brilliant last night.
Keeps playing like this, we could go deep.

Bummer about the Caps in double OT. Would like to see that one go longer. Desperation time in Washington. It's Ovechkin's learning year like it was for Crosby last year.

Tonight's Games:
Go Preds. Steal one.
Rangers, Stars, send em' home on their home ice.

If all goes well in the next couple games I'll be wrong on only 2 teams advancing (Caps, and Devils) however I hope the Bruins makes it a 7 game series just to make it a little more interesting.

A lot of teams are making it close this year, a lot of 3-2 series, and some good opportunities to make it 3-2. Close matches are always the most exciting. However it looks like we will be playing the Flyers, and what a match up that will be.

The Flyers played poorly on the boards last night:mad::mad::mad:
They stole that game:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Great game,bring on the Rangers:cool::cool::cool:

Keebler, if you knew anything about hockey (and I don't mean that condescendingly...lots of people just don't know) you'd know that Brodeur played for a Devils team for MANY years whose game was to get 1 goal and then trap. When you see 12 shots a game it's not hard to have a lot of wins.

It's in the new NHL where the trap has been defeated by getting rid of the two line pass and more tightly calling hooking penalties that the Devils can't adjust. Marty too. And that's what we've seen from him post-lockout.

that's true and a good point, but your best 'trap' player still has to be the goalie. if i get a chance, i'd like to research how many shots per game they averaged over those years.

Plus, regardless of whether or not a guy faces 30 or 12 shots/game, the fact that he plays a large % of the games each year is amazing.

Believe it or not, i'm not a brodeur fan boy either. He disgusts me for banging his sister-in-law and he's always come off with a bit of attitude (which I suppose is necessary to be at the top of one's game). And, i make fun of him for his pizza commercials considering it looks like he ate a bunch of them making the commercials :)

I'm a Habs fan so right now, i'm very bitter about last night's loss. I'm quite interested to see what Carey Price will bring to the rink tomorrow night. He's always been such a cool customer and he made a really dumb mistake last night.

Should be a great game.

Go Habs Go!
Cheers,
Keebler

It's crazy rumor time in the Ottawa Valley. I doubt that particular trade will happen. If anything, I think that they'll keep Spezza (he's their top line centre) and try to trade Heatley. I also doubt it because there is no GM in Vancouver right now, so who would be orchestrating such a deal?

Double OT for Washington. Too bad they couldn't pull out the win. That's what I remember from the past- long, double and triple OT games involving the Caps.

I have not. But I figured, if I'm in a glass house, I may as well throw some stones.....

The Devils are really pi**ing me off. I really didn't expect them to go down so quickly to the Rangers.

I hope they take the series. They're starting to look good. How cool would an old-school Avs/Red Wings match up be in one of the next rounds?
Theadore better be careful standing on his head- he wouldn't want the Propecia to get all over the ice..... :D

WTF was that last night, Carey Price?

I'll give ya that.

Try being an Islanders fan watching the Rags/Devils series. It's pure pain.

Tough break for the Caps. I'm hoping they can still eek it out, but that's gonna be really tough.

I have a feeling that the Avs/Wild series will go the full 7 games. The Wild are gonna wanna erase that bad taste from their mouths after last nights loss.

Here's to hoping that it doesn't. Avalanche have been strong and while they have been outplayed at times, Minny's D and speed is hard to contend with. We've been outshot in games. But we are starting to get going and with solid goaltending can really make strides towards a long 2nd round series or even getting to the conference finals and beyond. But it all starts with taking care of business Saturday night and moving on. Get a little rest while SJ-CAL and DET-NSH finish things up. We'll have the home ice and the energy. Time to do it.

Sorry for OT post, but who's got the best/worst playoff beard?:D

Peace

No team really deserves what? Having 8 of your players become unrestricted free agents all at the same time? That's a management error and is bad planning, and Murray will have to handle all of this very well in the offseason to prove that he's a good GM. They should know what is going on with their contracts. Melnyk is supposedly supporting him, so chances are he won't be fired, which will leave him there to pick up the pieces of the mess he created.

Competition? They took a big gamble- without a proven goalie- and went all in for this season. They lost. Tough s***. That's the way it goes. They have no one to blame but themselves. It's every team for themselves.

And don't think that there isn't any competition left in the East now that Ottawa is out. Don't forget the Isles! (Sorry Teh Don, I had to take a jab at someone- my post was too serious:D)

murry did pretty much build the stanley cup winning ducks team from last year so he knows what he's doing.

I think the entire FA situation is going to be the same. No team will stay the same year in, year out. The NHL now has become the NFL in that light. Take the Habs - sure...they've got some great young players, but they also have some restricted FA's I believe. They won't be exactly the same.

The worst thing for the Sens is their minor leagues. Hardly anyone of significance b/c they've used high draft picks in trades. I know someone who works for them who told me they better win (this was last year) or they're screwed.

they still have a good nucleus of players so a few trades or signings and they might be alright.

Go Habs Go!

Well.... regardless of the fact that he built the Ducks, he (and Muckler) also helped to create the current mess that is the Ottawa Senators. And, he sat on a roster that only had 18 wins since January. Also, keep in mind that the Ducks have had to trade away a lot of their future for their current team as well. It paid off for them- they won the Stanley Cup last season. Don't be surprised if Brian Burke bolts for Toronto or elsewhere after this season and the Ducks become a crappy team in the next couple of years. That won't be because Burke left, it will be because of the lack of talent that both Murray and Burke have left Anaheim with due to their wheeling and dealing for the present.

I don't agree that every team will have the same FA situation as the Sens have right now. Having 8 UFA's at the same time is a bit of a unique situation. It could be good or bad, depending on what kind of talent is available as replacements, and depending on the ability of the GM to acquire the right players.

Their minor league system situation ain't pretty, that's for sure. Kind of like how the Leafs' minors have been during the past decade..... but that has begun to change for Toronto in the last season or two.

The Habs having a bunch of RFA's isn't that big a deal. 99% of the time, RFA's re-sign with their team. It's very rare for another team to make an offer, and if they do, the rest of the league gets mad at them. I wouldn't worry about that. And they'll be very close to being the same team next season as they are this season. They weren't supposed to be this good yet. The Habs are still a work in progress. Good on Gainey.

Adios Devils.... :D
So after about 9:30 tonight: adios B's? The way MTL looked last game (from seeing highlights, dam NESN +) they looks awful. Tonight they are going to come out strong and i don't think 90 year old Glen Murray can keep up. I will be shocked if this goes to a game 7

Sigh.

Rangers Win 5-3. Win Series 4-1.

Wings over Preds 2-1 F/OT. Wings Lead 3-2

Ducks man handling the Stars 5-2. Stars Lead 3-2.

Today's Games:

Flyers v Caps, 1pm
Habs v B's, 7pm
Wild v Avs, 10pm

I hear ya, TDD. Not that I have anything against the Rangers, but I can relate (see my posts re:Sens) to the hate that you have for them.

I must say that I'm very disappointed in Brodeur. Both in how he played, and that he refused to shake hands with Avery. Why give that guy more attention. He could have shook his hand, leaned in close, and told him what an amateur and a douchebag he is ( and probably to go f*** himself). All he did was make himself look bad and like a sore loser. Apparently Avery was talking sh** to Brodeur about his divorce- that's what he does to throw other guys off their games. I don't blame Marty for not shaking, but he should know better than to do that when every camera in the joint would be on that handshake.

Let's Go whatever-team-plays-the-Rags-next!

I didn't know he refused to shake hands. (I was at a wedding unable to watch game, but I was provided score updates). I don't blame Marty for not doing that, but I think you have a point. I would've definitely leaned in and told him to f*** off and die.

Whatever team the Rags play next, you can bet that they will send their toughest guy against toolface.

Caps stay alive with a 3-2 win over the Flyers. :D

That's good stuff. I hope they can take it to 7 and win that one too. The Caps are so high energy- it would be good to see them continue on for another round. F the Flyers.

I didn't get to see any of today's game, but I made it home for the Habs game- I see Koivu is playing. We went hiking in Runyon Canyon, which is 5 minutes from Hollywood (see below for my iPhone pic- I felt like sharing) and then went to this awesome record store called Amoeba Records. Gotta love LA......

But now it's hockey time......

Wow. They just self-destructed. They couldn't hold one of those leads? They couldn't get up for a game that welcomed back their benevolent leader? Wow.

Keebler, WTH happened?

Game 7 will be awesome though.

I don't think anybody saw this coming.

The Habs have a really good team, there is no reason for this collapse.

Let's hope they finally end the B's dreams.

I loves me some HNIC feed on VS. The Wild seem to be playing on their heels. 1-0 Avs in the 1st.

I stayed up to 3am to watch this game and it was the first NHL game that I've watched in over a year. It was we'll worth it despite les canadiens not being able to hold onto their lead. It reminded me why I love hockey so much.

That's dedication right there. Glad you enjoyed the game and I hope you can watch a few more today.
