D* is over my friend. WTH happened to them? I did NOT expect that.

This round is just like the last one, eh?

I don't know! It makes me rather sad. It's been a hell of a run for them.

If you mean disappointing, then yes.

Pens v Wings for Lord Stanley. Please Pens, don't do me wrong.

i'm disappointed in my stars. i thought they would at least put up a fight, but it looks like we'll have to start thinking about next year since the chances of coming back from 0-3 are close to zero.

go pens/flyers!!! there is no way i'm cheering for the red wings to get their slimey hands on that trophy again.

Only 2 teams in NHL history have come back from 0-3 holes:

'42 Leafs
'75 Islanders

^^ and while it's been another 33 years as SJ was hoping against Dallas, I also don't see the D* doing it against the wings. C'mon Pens, beat the wings.

wow lots of wings hate in here. don't really get it to be honest with you. guess you could chalk it up to the same reasons why people hate the yankees and the lakers... stupid kobe.

no disrespect to my old michigan neighbor mike modano - but come on, they have cheerleaders in the stands... how could someone honestly like hockey but dislike the wings. they are the only team that still plays the same style before the new NHL.

and i would expect the pens fans to give it up to detroit too... we both won back to back cups - with the same coach!

anyway, if the wings wind up making this a short series and the pens follow suit - you've gotta feel a bit underwhelmed by the post season. the semifinals were short and now the conference finals look to be the same. its as if the teams are ridiculously unbalanced.

hey! i went to school in pittsburgh! in 1998 i went to more pens games then watching wings games on tv. me and a few friends would walk across 7th street bridge to the (then) civic center. you can't beat those student rush prices! ;)!

you weren't at cmu by any chance, were you? my last year there was 99. and yes, student rush was the greatest thing going in those days. you could see 15-20 games a year and never sit further away than section C.

i wouldn't say unbalanced, but the pens and wings are playing their best hockey of the year right now. gonna be a hell of a final if things keep going this way...

i'd also add that the pens have gotten just about every break conceivable on the injury front- alfredsen in the first round, avery in the second, and philly's top 2 defensemen now.

i think a lot of people have been expecting these penguins to turn into the second coming of the messier-gretzky oilers, but probably not this fast. i'm amazed by how well they're playing d; therrien may not be the best longterm choice at coach, but he's certainly done an amazing job keeping the young kids grounded. this team is going to be loaded for years to come. big win tonight.

....Wow! I was seriously not expecting a win tonight, but Hossa was on fire!

Interesting thought, the Pens-Wings did not play against each other this year....how freaking stupid is that?!!?! You play 82 games a year, and still don't play every team...that is stupid and the scheduling has to be maybe 1 game less of each division team and insure that everyone plays everyone at least once!!

I don't know what I'll do next round, Detroit has ALWAYS been my 2nd fav team (behind the pens, of course)...I loved the Wings when they had Osgood (still my most fav goalie) the first time and when Fedorov had the white Nike skates.....boy, was he GOOD!

Wow both Finals are 3-0. Can we say good night gracie?

"Good night, Gracie."

And I thought Round 2 was a little boring- I shouldn't have complained. Wow, it's really too bad that both series are going this way. Good for Detroit and Pittsburgh though. How have Monday and Tuesday's games been? Have they been competitive or predictable?

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to watch any weekday games- I started a new job, and because of Pacific Time, I don't get home until the game is over. Hopefully we'll see lots of long, drawn out OT games in the finals so I can see some live weekday hockey again! :D

I hope it's a good final- it's a great matchup. At this point, I don't know who would win.

Hossa is doing amazing, If I have one hope (outside the cup of course) is that we sign him after this season. I would be extatic, of course Dupis too, they have both really proven their worth to me, as I was unsure at the time of the trade deadline.

On the personal hockey level I ordered my favorite stick x2 the RBK 1K, and new inline Mission HGX. My brother is a goalie so its time to get some practice in!

i actually graduated from aip in 2000 - i really adored pittsburgh while i was there. i have a lot of great and sad memories but everyone of them i'd go through again in a heartbeat.

maybe hossa and dupuis are simply the missing pieces. after the trade deadline a lot of teams became better overnight (colorado & san jose) but last night pittsburgh didn't give philly any room to breathe. its complete dominance. the roster might very well be a combination more akin to the early 80s islanders than the messier/gretzky dynasty.

i left pittsburgh long before they started rebuilding but you have to give some respect to the pen fans. that town is definitely painted black and yellow during playoff time.

A D* game 5 win would make it nice and interesting. Follow that up with a game 6 win and I would love that. Somehow I just don't see the Wings losing 4 in a row though.

Flyers ain't done yet either! Win 4-2

I liked the rough stuff at the end of the game. Finally, some emotion between these two intrastate rivals!

Biron looked solid. Good on him.

Roberts is out with pnemonia. That sucks, I hope he pulls through fast enough to play again these playoffs.

Let's make it more interesting, Flyers and D*!

There's a game today, right? It feels like the momentum has been taken away from these playoffs. I hope D* can win this one and make it more interesting.

Canada vs. Russia tomorrow afternoon in the finals of the World Hockey Championships. Should be one hell of a game. I wish I could watch it while sipping on a large double double with milk and munching on some Timbits.

Now we've got ourselves a series in the West. Very nice job by Turco and the Stars today to get a win in a building that has been a house of horrors for them over the years.

TDD approves of the Stars winning.

This can get really interesting if the Stars win another game.

i don't think it was really turco that stole game 5. he certainly didn't stand on his head. the quality of plays for detroits offense was lacking. when they had an odd man rush they shot wide or shot it right at turcos chest. they were very slow on their transition game. and the rough play was practically non existent.

what's happening here is that the wings top scorers are losing it. i don't see dallas making any huge defensive plays, its just that the wings aren't passing or shooting accurately as they have in the first 3 games.

but the wings have to learn to get through this, they have to elevate their play. thats what the playoffs are all about. sure its a stretch to say that the stars can make history and come back from 0-3 but if any team can fall apart after having a lead like that - it is detroit.
