I hope so too. I hope Columbus squeaks by with 1 or 2 wins. One win is possible, but not 2. I realize that. I just don't like seeing any team get swept in the playoffs (particularly in the first round), and that includes teams I don't like such as Montreal.

Are the Sharks turning into the old Red Wings? You know winning during the regular season (president's trophy) and doing a first round flame out? Down 3-1 to the Ducks.

Speaking of that series, there was a small earthquake that occurred during the first intermission. Link

Ah well. A sweep it is then. 6-5..... the BJ's put up a good fight this game- they almost came back to win it. If they can add a few more pieces, they should end up at the 4 or 5 spot next season.

If the Sharks get eliminated in the first round, I'm sure Ron Wilson will have a little smirk on his face after the game.

I think the Ducks may be the dark horse this year.

I was thinking that same thing. I don't think they'll make it back, it seems like they just haven't been able to perform during the series.

It leaves as bad taste, but everyone in Vancouver is cheering the Ducks on now.

Meeting Chicago or Calgary in the next round is infinitely preferable to Detroit.

Then hopefully, we watch Anaheim beat Detroit up for 7 games, meet an exhausted team in the Western finals and keep going :)

So, umm, go Ducks.

Just a little smirk.

Ahhh like the Oilers back in '04.

They might pull off one more win but it looks like they're done.

I had to post this video clip, even though it's a few days old. The language is NSFW, so put on your headphones if you want to watch it at work.

I wish I would have seen this live!! Classic!

Flames vs. Blackhawks HockeyCentral report

EPIC WIN!!!

Surely...pls don't lump all us Habs fans in there! I have class! I wasn't booing the supposed goalie of the future. ugh! Talk about encouraging the kid to ski-daddle as soon as he can and making any UFA's think twice about signing there.

It's not the booing of your own goalie that earns the classless label, its the booing of the US national anthem.

Avery is such an idiot. He hasn't changed one iota as I figured he wouldn't.
I've heard rumours from guys who played with him before and it sounds like he is a massive loser. Looks that way from the fact he sits at the end of the bench like a loner. Either that guy needs a big hug to let him know whatever problems irk him, he can be ok or he just seriously needs to get his a** kicked time and time over again.

Lucic gave him a good pounding when the Stars visited Boston earlier in the season. I'm sure Claude Julien will tell him to be smart about when he does it, but will give him the green light. The Bruins were very good about just ignoring Avery at the end of the season when he tried his stunts, although Tim Thomas made him turtle when Avery whacked Thomas in the back of the head with his stick during a TV timeout and Thomas came after him for it. I mean seriously, turtling to a goalie?

no one from the east will win. Boston looked good, but it's not hard when the other team is decimated by injury and completely dysfunctional. I think a great East Conf. matchup will be Bos-NJ.

Bruins-Penguins would be a fast paced series and would be good, too. I'm glad NJ gets to deal with them first (assuming the Canes and Flyers don't each win 2 games in a row and the Bruins continue to be one of the teams that can actually score on Lundqvist).

Why all the habs fan hate?

<- Habs fan and not a douche.

The aforementioned booing of the US national anthem which has been going on in the playoffs at least as far back as 2004.

OK I am a HUGE Bruins fan.

I was brought up to HATE the Canadiens, not a little but with my heart.

However, tonight I have to say the Canadiens showed how much clas the organization has. Instead of coming out in the third period acting like the flyers of the 70's, the habs came out to see if they could win the game, no BS except one play.

Go B's

Maybe some of that class can rub off on the fans.

I think part of the reason they didn't come out in the third like the 70's Flyers is that the B's would have just reverted to the 70's B's and being a much bigger team would have just overpowered them. The Canadiens are not built for fighting. Plus they were the only team this season to come back when trailing the B's by 3 going into the third. It was a long-shot, but it was the only chance they had to continue their season.

the flyers let up on their game.
In the first there was far more hitting and the flyers were up 3 zip.
The second less hitting and the pens were skating circles around the flyers.
Third period more skating - less hitting which favored the pens.

Hitting teams MUST execute game plans for 60 minutes if they want to win. You can't do it for 20 minutes and sit back. Teams that have more finese simply weather the storm then take control.

Look at the habs-bruins series. habs wanted to goon it up the b's waited and then skated around them.

The Flyers absolutely collapsed today. Up 3-0 nothing and then a fight changed it all.

I was at the Flyers game . When you win a fight it should fire up YOUR team not the OTHER team. Richards and Carter basically were no-shows in this series.

It's not how you start it's how you finish...:mad::mad:

Peace

They showed the first period of the Flames/Hawks game on Versus tonight.

Check out what happened to Matt Walker's finger! Yikes!...... he blocked a shot with his hand.

Check out the girls' reaction in the first row!

sad year for me the Avs sucked :(

The Avs were disgusting this year a complete embarassment.
I have followed the Avs as my West coast team since they moved to Denver.

Since getting NHL Center ice, each year I watched at least 60 of their regular season games.
This year I couldn't stomach the 15 games i did watch. Their lack luster offense was like watching the boston Bruins of the 90's.

Try being a Leafs fan. 42 years and counting without a Stanley Cup. Sigh. :(

try being a ranger fan... 54 years.
Well it looks like the king can't hold uphold up the rangers. (not his fault that, he can play like he did in games 1,2, and 5 and still be in good shape.) Either way the rangers would have lost to boston so i saved a lot of money in tickets/food/transportation for them to get there behinds handed to them.
