Agreed. I'm watching Ivory Coast vs Portugal and I have Tommy Smyth on for ESPN Radio...he made a comment that there's a very low percentage of quality crosses this WC...not many long shots of any quality...

Jabulani...or?

-J.-

How can you listen to Tommy Smyth? He (and his onion bag) irritates me no end.

Edit: Both these teams know that if they lose today they'll have to beat Brazil to qualify so they are both playing very negatively.

Is Tommy Smyth the fast talker? Get US coverage of the Premier League through Slingbox, almost appreciate Lineker after watching him.

Horrible match...I hope Portugal doesn't come out and play like that against big brother Brazil and then beat up on North Korea (actually I guarantee that's their strategy)...CIV was the better side...

I really hate to say this, I truly do, but this World Cup has been really awful so far. So boring, so few goals, go little quality, so few stories...

I'm actually hoping Brazil beat N. Korea by 8 goals this evening, just so I can remember what a goal looks like.

Actually Portugal play North Korea first, then Brazil.

Nutty Knee-Jerk World Cup Points System:

Lose = 0 points
Lose but score 2 or more = 2 points
Goal-less draw = 1 point
1-1 draw = 2 points
draw and score 2 or more = 3 points
win = 4 points
win and score more than 2 = 6 points

ITV sacks Robbie Earle for breaking ticket regulations

ITV are the British television company that missed the 1st England goal of the tournament on their HD channel because they were playing an advert. They're having a worse tournament than the England team...:rolleyes:

Good! Although God knows why one man gets 'scores' of tickets in the first place.

Just need to get rid of Andy Townsend now...

Maybe it was worth it.;)

Earle Allocated 35 to 40 tickets - heard that the Olympics is 20% local people and 80% the 'family' of the IOC.

1998 - 31 goals after 13 games (2.38 per match)
2002 - 38 goals after 13 games (2.92 per match)
2006 - 31 goals after 13 games (2.38 per match)
2010 - 20 goals after 13 games (1.54 per match)

About 36% less goals so far than 2006, and 47% than 2002. Pretty significant and the horns do not help! :eek:

I did the math myself, you I may have made a mistake

equaliser in the last moments of the game ... at least new zealand had something from this game ... the people watching it on television sure didn't

another horrible game to watch

Best game of the tournament so far imo. Only because the stadium was half empty so there were less of those f***tard horns.

Officially the worst World Cup ever in my book and we haven't even finished the first round of games. Sepp Blatter got it way wrong about the 'South African' flavour. This is the World cup, not South Africa's. They are just the hosts for the rest of the world. And very bad ones at that so far. And these horns are not even a tradition if that's his argument, only starting in the 1990s. English hooliganism is more traditional than that when it comes to football but they banned that for the good of the game..

Anyway, North Korea to beat Brazil 3-1. No Eusebio this time. ;)

PS. Australia did their best to give the goal stats a lift. Just need to score them instead of conceding them!
