Thierry Henry has invited himself to the presidential palace to speak with Sarko after the World Cup. Getting a little to big for his britches, isn't he? Since when do people invite themselves to presidential meetings?

Well, since this seems to be the biggest crisis in France since 1945 and Henry is the last French footballer to contribute to the team, it seems like a logical meeting.

:p

@Jaffa

Who wins the fashion shootout: Joachim Löw or Dunga?

Never mind the football, what about that tennis match taking place over on Wimbledon's Court 18?

(My vote goes to Joachim Löw, by the way!)

the GER v GHA game has been great. Tight defense by Ghana and strong counter attacks have left the Germans a little unorganized.
Hopefully both teams can step it up a little more in the 2nd half. Ghana might pull off an upset here.

Here's a question I have, maybe someone can answer...

Last night during the Argentina game, I noticed something about their kit, and it's the same with Germany this evening (obviously an Adidas thing).

Some of the players have a shiny cross in the material in the back of their kit (as if it were made of sticky tape), they looks a bit like the black lines on the spiderman costume, whilst some don't... Any ideas what they are?

The only one I noticed on was the French kit.

Curse the goal difference from that drubbing in the first game. It'll be the ruin of us. With Germany 1-0 up we need to win 4-0.

3 more. C'mon.. Hopefully Germany can score 2 more.. or Ghana score 2 more, and win... it's hard to keep track..

2 more.. c'mon...

I do indeed!

It's some new fangled Adidas gubbins that the tri-striped ones are calling 'Techfit Powerweb'. A number of the national shirts they're producing have this, and according to the blurb it offers the wearer...

  • 1.1% increased sprinting speed
  • Improved posture, enhanced accuracy and repeatability through increased spatial awareness.
  • 5.3% improved strength, body posture and overall average output.
  • 4% improved vertical jump height.
  • 0.8% increased efficiency and improved spatial awareness by decreasing oxygen consumption by 0.8%.

Yes, I know.

Not all the players are wearing these shirts as you say, so I'd guess that they think it's all a load of bollocks too. :p

It's part of the adidas TECHFIT Technology, which is said to improve muscle performance.

Edit: Thanks for the additional information, Jaffa. (And thx for reminding me searching for my Beautiful South records :))

Pah, wrong team just scored. For a minute there I thought the unbelievable was going to happen. Buggering Germans and Ghanaians look like they're playing a casual game in the park. Sod them both.

USA and England to win.

Increases spacial awareness?? Any shirt that can improve cognitive abilities is something I need to own!

Cracking match GER/GHA. Looks like England vs Germany in the next round. Looking forward to that already... Let's see if kick and rush can win the day!

Just in case those in England needed a review on how Group C panned out: :D:D

And just in case those in the States need a review on how things panned out the last time you met Ghana at a World Cup... :D

Germany to win. Penalties. Again.
Well, it goes without saying we'll be knocked out on penalties...

If we're to be pedantic though, you don't win or lose such games – they're officially recorded as draws. The penalties only decide which teams advance, not the actual result of the fixture. That's why we've drawn more matches than any other team in World Cup history. ;)
