I am glad Germany scored 2 more goals. That way the goal that should have been by Lampart doesn't make a difference. Germany was the far better team in this game.

I was happy to see the way that the English players acted after the loss. Much better than France or Italy for that matter.

What was funny was how much hubbub the English yellow press made over the game beforehand. The German press was quite bewildered by it. Most were like "what's the big deal here?". England really needs to get over it's old reflexes when it comes to Germany. 60 years after the war it's simply childish and ridiculous and makes you look like a fool.

As for Rooney, not only does he have to eat the words his big fat mouth spouted before the game, he also goes home without a single goal scored. Makes me very happy. The guy is the most uncouth, foulmouthed barbarian I have seen play for England in a long time. Disgusting. Frankly I am disappointed that England's celebrity these days is represented by the likes of him, Gordon Ramsay et al.. A bunch of ill mannered, foulmouthed, low class hooligans.
Pity that.
Cheers,

Ahmed

At 2-2 there is the slim chance that the numpties in defence wouldn't have been near the German penalty area, but it's slim.

As to your other comments:rolleyes:

Germany deserved it. They should have scored more. No complaints from me although im trying to work out how England manage to get worse as the tournament progresses and not better. Lets face it our forwards only scored one goal for us all campaign.

I knew Germany would win today but even i am shocked at how badly England defended. I was laughing at Denmark the other day for comical defending but i think England showed them up today

Edit: My Avatar pic reflects my pose after ANY of the mistakes for the german goals

The USA was devastated since they had high hopes to revive American soccer back in the states like in 1994 and they desperately want the world cup to come back in 2018/2022. By winning they would have brought more supporters to bring the world cup back.

They actually had the most supporters of any competing nation already. The commentator mentioned during the USA/Ghana match that besides the host nation itself, the USA accounted for the highest pre-tournament ticket sales at this WC.

It's part of the game. Perfection cannot be acomplished. Not for the players. Not for the referees.

They said the same about tennis, which is probably even more 'traditional' than football (look how long they held onto the wear white only rule), but they eventually succumbed to the inevitable looking like incompetents on TV replays.

Most sports arenas around the world now have big screens so even the crowds live at the game (and the refs and players themselves) can even see the bad calls, over and over again in slow motion. It just makes them look like bumbling fools when they immediately know it was a bad decision but can't correct it.

I would vigorously oppose the use of replay in football. Replay slows the game. Sensors on goal should be enough. Instantaneous, no replay.

To be fair, many of us in this country find it equally tiresome.

I just got back from my holidays last night, so need to catch up on a few pages of ranting. However that was the noticeable difference for a non-Englander in the country during the World Cup. Everybody I met (bar one exception) were magic, engaged in a bit of banter when they heard my accent, had realistic opinions of England's chances. I really enjoyed my time down there. However the press was unbelievable, newspaper headlines borderline racist. The criticism after the two draws was harsh, then the celebrations after the win was just completely two-faced. It's as if they believe that people will only buy their newspapers if they tell the reader that they are going to win the world cup, rather than report some realism.

How can any producer allow Danny Baker in front of a microphone ever again; "I really believe that England will make it to the final. They are too good to go out". Pillock. BBC News 24 (never the sharpest tools when it comes to sports) reported that England v Germany was 'one of the oldest sporting rivalries'. Since when? Ask any German who they'd like to cuff at football and they'll say Netherlands.

Anyway, genuinely sorry you guys are out, I thought you'd do better than that. But Cappello should stay.

for rooney i don't think the problem is exactly _him_ it's just that the english midfield constantly ignores him... lampard and gerrard: long shots on the goal or long passes on the right wing and stumpling them through the middle ... that's more or less their plan.. seriously both have to step back from the squad

and Rooney is a player which thrives on low (fast) balls played into the back of the defense line or 1 on 1 situation on the penalty box line... he a is a striker when simply requires a system playing for him .. it's simply ridiculous that he has to fall back over and over again nearly to the middle line and then more or less should be able to play a through pass to himself.... it's such a waste of an excelent striker
also his up front colleagues are hardly taking work load from him .. neither crouch, heskey or defoe have close to his abilities

england have to go the same way as germany did after 2004... they have to completley revamp the way the FA national team operates

also why nobody talking about özil: he was there last year in the under 21 team who trashed the english under 21 4-0 at the tournament.. together with neuer, boateng, khedira, aogo, badstuber etc.
if you have seen how Özil played a year ago at werder bremen together with diego ... then you wouldn't be surprised a bit by his current performances .. in fact it's rather dissapointing how he is currently missing his chances when running alone towards a keeper...

what's much more surprising is the form players like klose or podolksi show up at the world cup.. all year completly forgettable and then they play like not a day has passed since the 2006 world cup

England were very lucky to get away with 4-1. Totally outplayed by the Germans.

Our millionaire superstars, however, and the entire FA organisation that structures English football, should be thrown in a bin bag and drowned in the Thames. That is all.

Why are you letting them get off so lightly!?

Cheer up!

Nobody' complaining about the questionnable decision of the referee in the final in 1966.

Otherwise, it's the typical fiasco and business as usual - England is having a clash between self-image and reality, unable to live up to the hype.

Wow what a game.

Just came back from a public viewing area here in my hometown in northern germany. People go completely nuts here. The World cup turns every city here into a big party - I love that. People really needed that after all the crap they've been through lately.

Btw all people there thought they should have given the 2:2 (but of course were glad they didn't).

Awesome game.

I'm glad that's over. Perhaps now we can get rid of all those bloody flags commemorating that Palestinian mercenary and black marketeer who for some unknown reason we adopted as our patron saint, and perhaps there'll be a few less fat, beer-swilling chain-smokers wandering around in tracksuits. I live in hope.

The goal-no-goal thing was immaterial in the end. People will look for an excuse, but the truth is our opponents were simply much better than we were.

The trouble with the self-image thing is that we see these same players performing far far better at club level. The English Premiership is a fast-paced league, yet apart from around 10 minutes of the first half the same players that normally move at that speed were just pedestrian. It's almost as if they genuinely couldn't care less.

Sign 'em up I say. Can't be any worse running down the wing than the current lot.

More than slim I reckon. Going into half time at 2-2 with Germany totally blowing a 2-0 lead would have resulted in a completely different second half to the one we saw with England chasing the game and leaving themselves open to counter attack. Both German second half goals were a direct result of this, which otherwise wouldn't have happened.

I've been reading various reactions like yours and I must say I really commend you for your attitude. It's really refreshing to see the outcome not being blamed on the referee. I really hope that you can recover and build a team that can live up to the expectations.

He was referring to the World War II usual English press beat ups whenever they play Germany.

Well some got stuffed by Germany, qualifying for England, but here's hoping:

J Hart, A Johnson, D Gosling, J Rodwell, J Wilshere, T Cleverley, T Walcott- if he's developed as a striker, C Wickham ...

I know I am just saying that a lot of the people I heard today don't blame everything on the ref.

I do and I'm not even English! The decision changed the whole outcome of the match. Starting the second half at 2-2 England wouldn't have been in the position of chasing the game. Germany's goals came in the 67 and 70 minutes when England were getting desperate with 20 minutes to go to get the equalizer they needed to just stay in the game which they already should have had anyway.

As a neutral spectator I feel somewhat robbed of not seeing the tight contest the second half should have been, like the first half was.

Yep, the press are masters at whipping up expectations well beyond what's realistic, and much of what they print around England at major tournaments is ridiculous to the point of embarrassment. The problem is, for many armchair supporters – who only watch when the World Cup or European Championships roll around – the press is their primary source of information about the teams, the players and our chances. Add into this the hype that surrounds the Premier League (best league in the world, innit) and some folk develop unrealistic expectations.

I think to be honest the tabloids relish a humiliating English defeat as much as they would us winning a tournament – rest assured they won't be pulling any punches tomorrow when it comes to dishing out the blame for this afternoon's performance, and it's obvious that the lion's share of the finger pointing will be in the direction of the officials who disallowed Lampard's goal. What else can you expect from foreign officials, they'll no doubt ask.

How can any producer allow Danny Baker in front of a microphone ever again...
You didn't need to add anything onto that.

Anyway, genuinely sorry you guys are out...
Ta muchly. On to the Euro 2012 qualifiers!

i think the problem isn't so far from the same problem germany faced ca. 1998/2000: too many years of training young players in great physical players and too little training into technical talent ... and additionally with england: mental capabilties... england has all the abilities but they are too much reduced into "overpowering the opposite side with physical strength and stamina"...
and because the english teams hear this over and over again they can't play any different anymore and believe it themselves... and when faced with teams who are equally strong at the physical level (or even excel them) it's the technical strenght or mental capabilties who come to play
and it'S especially the second one the english team has problems

in the last 15-20 minutes some on the english team pretty much had given up and others wanted... but simply were at the end of their strenght and thus couldn't fight back

i think the best difference can be seen in the comment made by Löw prior to the world cup "we are going to south africa to _play_ football" (discarding any comments about how the team should be playing more defensive)

Klinsmann put into the DFB that a national team should be:
A: led by absolute specialists in training
B: should also be coached in psychological matters
B: while playing football the team should be having fun

for example in psychological terms this 2010 DFB had a rather informal meeting on the training pitch during a break with extreme mountaineer Reinhold Messner including talking about his near death expierences and then giving everything
and for 'fun': today they were playing football-tennis, and the last days driving around in quads and visiting wild animals

BLATANTLY OFFSIDE!!!! :mad::mad::mad:

I am getting so fed up with this... now those bloody Argentines get a goal that should NOT stand.
Exact opposite and just as idiotic as the Germany - England game.

Luckily it's almost Top gear time, so I won't have to watch more bullcrap.

I so hope Mexico win.

in germany it's more like the opposite: the team too inexpierenced, first keeper injured, why has the coach left player x at home, why hasn't he anounced the squad yet, defense way to shaky, player x and y completly out of shape, with our captain injured we will be out after group stage, team to nervous, training facilities not good enough, preparation games unconvincing, too many players from club Z, ballack injured on purpose etc.

Ta muchly. On to the Euro 2012 qualifiers!

guess which team my fellow austrian team has to qualify against... yeah todays german team (and turkey which means us and the belgians won't make it) ... that's why i'm already looking forward to the 2014 qualifiers ;)

Rules-gurus again please for Tevez' goal - is there no offside in the opposition's penalty box?
