Both, however, are very nice looking. I'd say that Wigan's 3 jerseys this year are easily their best for some time.

The design is pretty clean, but to me ".com" sponsors still look cheesy and cheap to me - probably because our daily lives are constantly bombarded with obscure ".com" e-commerce ads everywhere.

With that being said, I'd glady accept a ".com" sponsor on a Columbus shirt if it meant money in the bank for the team. I can be bought. :D

I'm guessing that Jaffa would take a .com sponsor over Hull's current choice.

Essentially, it's like an offline version of ebay...

That white Latics shirt looks decent though – not so keen on the away shirt however.

Inter's newly unveiled away shirt meanwhile is pure class...

I love a sash shirt, so I do. :)

I have aways liked Inter's home shirt, and that is a great away shirt.

The USA shirt has grown on me, though I like the blue with red sash away shirt better than the home shirt with its "ghost" sash.

It's just been announced that all London clubs are postponing their fixtures on police orders due to the rioting in the capital – I would imagine Wednesday's England-Netherlands friendly at Wembley will be cancelled at some point today too.

Assume the underlying reason isn't that they expect trouble at the games but rather the police can't spare the officers to properly police events as they'll have parts of London in lockdown over the next couple of days. Still, that's a shocker, after all the bullishness about the Olympics being ready early now they can't organise a game of football.

That's the reason given, and also some of the grounds where matches were to be played are very close to trouble spots. If things kick off again tomorrow night you don't want thousands of match goers trying to pick their way safely through a riot.

EDIT: West ham were the first to announce the postponement, they've put a statement up on their OWS...

West Ham United have been asked by the police to postpone the Carling Cup first-round tie with Aldershot Town tomorrow night (Tuesday 9 August).

The club were contacted this evening and told that all major public events in London were to be rearranged because of the need to focus police resources elsewhere.

Whilst neither the club or police anticipate any issues around the game itself, the club has to comply with the police request.

Well, we lost tonight. 2-0. At home. To Macclesfield Town.

That's right, Macclesfield Town.

League Two Macclesfield Town.

Anyway, let's turn our thoughts away from the woefully inept performance. We had nine likely first choicers missing tonight due to injury and international call ups – so, with our options limited would Jimmy Bullard make an appearance? No, neither starting nor on the bench.

However, we had some players making their debuts tonight – including a young player by the name of Martin Pusic. His inclusion is notable for two reasons. First, he's Austrian so it will please takao greatly to see one of his countrymen playing for the mighty Tigers. Secondly, he's been allocated squad number 27 – the same number that was quietly given to Mr Bullard only a few short days ago.

There's a rumour doing the rounds that a meeting between the club and Bullard's representatives has been arranged for tomorrow, and that the club will attempt to sack him for breach of contract/bringing the club into disrepute/breaking club rules/or similar. There's talk that temporarily allocating him a number was a step taken to ensure that Bullard can't claim the decision was already taken prior to the conclusion of the investigation against him, thus shielding the club from legal action.

Spurious rumour or is there some truth in it? We might learn tomorrow...

Does Bullard qualify as one of the worst signings by any club ever?

Surely he's better than Bebe? I would say Milan Jovanovic but Liverpool got him on a free...

Speaking of losing matches, USA will take to the field in one day and two and a half hours for their inevitable 3-0 loss to a confident albeit Chicharito-less Mexico side. I expect little, so hopefully Klinsmann takes this opportunity to experiment.

From the Guardian's "The Knowledge" feature:

"Toronto FC defender Andy Iro has now conceded a penalty in three straight games, against Portland Timbers, Real Esteli, and DC United," writes Duncan Fletcher. "Has any player ever had a longer streak?"

Yep, that's the same Andy Iro that Columbus just traded to despised rivals Toronto. Your'e welcome. :)

Of course, Toronto fought back by making sure that the player they sent the other way, Tony Tchani, was injured and therefore hasn't yet made an appearance in a Columbus shirt. At least he hasn't cost us any points yet. ;)

I'll see your Bullard, and I'll raise you by one Torre Andre Flow.:eek::eek::eek:

His strike rate for Rangers (according to Wikipedia) is better than 1 in 2....sounds pretty darn good, but then you sold him for half what you paid.

EDIT: Two additional interesting news items...Jozy Altidore came on as a sub and scored against PSV in his first appearance for AZ. Well done Jozy. Hopefully the start of a long tally sheet.

But more important (at least for US fans), is the announcement of a new MLS TV deal with NBC that starts when the current arrangement with Fox Soccer Channel runs out at the end of this year. It's more money, coming from a network with a lot more viewers. The details are not all known but so far it looks like a good move for the league.

It's almost like the Crew and Toronto are trying to destroy one another from within...

The only difference of note being that Columbus sits on top of the table in the East, and Toronto...well, lets just say that any discussion of their prospects this season are going to involve the word "mathematically". ;)
