See, if you switched the teams round in that statement, it would normally be the case for Arsenal

I think both teams performed similarly in that regard. I watched a replay of the match last night, and I thought it was a very end-to-end game. Both teams had some great link-up play and attacked with a lot of pace, but both teams also had trouble finishing their chances. It was a pretty good match.

Welcome to Europe football Man City.

Edit: Brilliant goal by Kolarov

Ooh, Jonny, Jonny, Jonny, you might well make it worse ... and you Carrick.:(

If the B team can get a draw away at Benfica I don't see any cause for worry - you'll humiliate Basle and that other club I can't even remember the name of. Man City's result is arguably less impressive because they were at home, but I'd probably label Dortmund as tougher opposition than Benfica (though neither team are pushovers).

Inter look to be in trouble already.

Thought the draw was a fair result for City; perhaps we edged it on chances but you've got to take them at European level. The one for Yaya in the first half stands out for me, and Lescott had a free header in the second half which he should've done better with.

Thought the atmosphere was fantastic though. Filmed this before the match.

I know; hence why I said we needed to take more of the chances we had ;)
Arsenal fans have been saying the same for what, the past 6 seasons now ;)

As good as City's squad is, I personally don't think they're "the team the top table all wanted to avoid in the Champions League" at least, not this season, but hey, let's wait and see :)

Got my ticket for tonights big game at St. Andrews. Blues Vs Braga. a bit worried considering they got to the Europa Final last year

Liverpool were done by them last season, though we were very poor.

Definitely not - Barca is the draw nobody wants, and Real are just as bad from most teams' perspective. After that there is a drop to Man U and Man City, but either of them could be contenders if the Spanish teams get upset.

We lost 3-1 in the end, though to be honest we had quite a different team playing tonight - with a few new faces (we've got 5 games in 14 days - so squad rotation is understandable).

I thought we played reasonably well, just we didn't defend well enough. Their 3rd goal came from us pushing for an equaliser.

Bit cruel for Stoke City, but wait 'til Dynamo Kiev face them on a cold, wet, windy...

As you say Lord Blackadder, Manchester United should get through, and there is a bit more pressure on Manchester City now - first night nerves?

Anyway, I was tuning around for sports information and chanced upon TalkS:eek::eek:te  - catching part of an interview with Craig Johnston on the World's Favourite Airtime; Keys and Gray. If you're interested and have access, Mr. B:

Manchester City vs Bayern in munich sure will be decisive game: if bayern wins they are on the best way through already and Manchester is already halfway out

Villareal was absolutely chance-less despite having a great counterattacking line up .. gonna be interesting if Manchester City can break the Bayern field dominance

I think that was implying that City was by far the toughest pot 3 team so teams wanted to avoid them in their group.
