I think that was implying that City was by far the toughest pot 3 team so teams wanted to avoid them in their group.

the even more absurd situation was that Borussia Dortmund, as champion of the german Bundesliga, was put into the pot 4. it shows how ridiculous this current drawing mathematics are

theoretical there could have been a group with

Barcelona (1. La Liga)
AC Mailand (1. Serie A)
Ajax Amsterdam ( 1. Ehredivisie)
Borussia Dortmund (1. Bundesliga)

meanwhile Arsenal, as 4th of the Premier League, or Bayern München as 3rd of the Bundesliga get thrown into Pot 1

the system should be about the champions of the top leagues getting easier draws , not the the teams which had been there the last years year getting a break.. this way teams which are often 3., 2. in the top leagues have a big advantage over the breakout team which gets that single championship

*sigh*...unbelievable. Top 4 my arse. Has to be a curse at this point.

Shocking result for Arsenal. Despite Wenger's assertions to the contrary, morale must be at rock-bottom. Liverpool had a similarly poor start last season - and finished out of the top four. Wenger's in for a rough season.

Gah! Just spied Mr Portsmouth. He won't be happy with our goal, mind. ;)

A missile from Slovenia captain Koren, no less. I'll bet the bell fell silent. :D

I can't remember if I've already had a rant about Rangers new "owner", Craig Whyte? (Owner in inverted comments due to conspiracy theories suggesting he is a puppet for others). Anyway I think he's been all talk and no wallet. The last couple of weeks has been the same as the last couple of months; the previous chief executive applied to the court to freeze some of Rangers assets pending a court case to claim back money owed to him. The tax man arrived the other day to freeze some assets pending a hearing about money owed to them. We made no real purchases in the transfer window, yet the only hope is we were offered silly money for some players but didn't take it.

On the pitch is business as usual. First Old Firm tomorrow so according to some the league will be decided tomorrow! I expect the usual, Celtic to play the better football, Rangers to win by a goal!

Arsenal's form in the league since the carling cup is relegation form, I'm surprised wenger still has a job.

Over the summer once again he didn't address his teams problem in defence. Action is not just the players he failed to address, it's the style of play arsenal have at the moment.

They simply don't defend as a team, attack as a team, there is simply no team work at all. No passion, or fight etc.

Looking forward to liver pools match tonight, we were amazing against stoke in the second half, stoke didn't get a stiff of the ball, we created a huge amount of chances, just have gotten a few penalties ( few blatent hand balls in the box) and failed to finish of a huge amount of easy chances. Just wasn't our day :(

His previous achievements are keeping him afloat at the moment. Up until the first own goal i thought arsenal did quite well. Gervinho looks a lot more direct than anything they have had for years. Not sure about Santos, Arteta took his goal well, but they are still lacking leaders. As soon as it went 2-2 Blackburn sprang into life and i thought were worthy winners

I'm going to my first futbol match... Fullham v Everton.. Oct 23rd!

I'm excited.

Day game, then DA BEARS game later that night at Wembley. I'm going to be ****kkkeddd up:D

Apparently not your day today either.

All the teams I like lost this weekend, and the teams I dislike won. (with the exception of Hull City ;)) 'Nuff said.

Man U to go undefeated this season? They are better than last season and all the hype then was about an undefeated season...waiting for the media to trot it out again...

No one else looks in Uniteds class in england. Certainly not Chelsea or Arsenal. Dont think City have what it takes to win the league either. Still expect Barcelona to win champions league

There's patter in Glasgow which kind of means you've made your bed so lay in it... "Getitrightupye!";)
Mo Edu, who's been rubbish for weeks, played a blinder today too.

Apart from standard stonewall penalty denied (for both sides) which is part of the fabric of an Old Firm, it all went really well. No dodgy refereeing decisions, no riots, the red card was deserved, the football was good as well. And everybody is talking about the football for once. It's weird.

Another load of  in the performance; can any team in the Premier League defend?

Torres is looking sharper - runs and dribbles, it'll come.

Still, good to see the Best Left Back In The World being made to look like the muppet he is - Bale did a decent job at Wembley.

Take the result, but a lot of the performance was

Cheers,
Ow

Maybe you'll be brought up short on a cold, rainy night at Stoke. There's always hope, anyway. ;)

It's a two-horse race. Right now there aren't even four teams that look "top four". Chelsea is the Villareal of the Premier league, better than the rest but way behind the leaders.

Torres has a good record against United. It's too bad people are focusing on the miss.

watching my first premiere league game since there isn't a decent NFL game on here. i can see myself becoming a fan, too bad there aren't many televised here.

There is if you have Fox Soccer Channel available to you. They carry the Barclay's Premier League, Serie A, Ligue1, and MLS.

Gol TV carries Bundesliga, and various South American games.

Check your local listings. ;)

...and be prepared to shell out some dough for the appropriate cable packages, and make sure you're ready to get up really early to watch matches (between 6-8am i you live on the West coast).

It just shows more dedication. :D

Well, we came back from being 2-1 at half time to not only scrape a draw, but come back and win. Megson must have gone home at half time ;)
